You can tell that your teacher was Bradetich. People seem to be gaining his rolls of the wrist in the left hand. Not saying that its bad but its just a signature that I've seen with all of his students.
Given that I was one of them during a few master classes.
Technique is very good, though this piece is lacking a real sense of musicality.... remember it is bel canto style writing, you must gush musicality. Also check your bridge height because your strings are rattling on the fingerboard, which will impress no judge. Overall though solid playing, keep up the good work!
@bassmandan12 I agree with what you have to say, I am playing this piece next week in a recital. I study with Jack Budrow, and this is definitely a piece that has to be sung more than anything, since bottesini did base pretty much all of his works off of opera. Also, the performance seems rather mono dynamic to me, not sure if it could just be the recording or not, but overall, it is very impressive technique wise, but it deserves more musicality.
@lilmatty33059 i studied with mr. budrow at interlochen last summer!!!! he was GREAT! I worked on the prelude from the first bach cello suite with him mostly, though. I worked on this with Mr. Hurst. Yea, I've been really trying to get more emotional with the music. I guess the notes just kinda scare me so I forget about the music sometimes XD. I've been working on it haha
@orchdork775 You're welcome, it's really nice to see the bass being represented so well by someone your age. I would look into standing(with a Laborie), I think standing is much more engaging for the audience and that if you can stand, you should. Paul is a great guy for that if you decide to go down that road. Keep on keeping on, you're doing great work.
