Yeah, it's uncomfortable to watch, but the animal isn't being hurt. He just looks terrorized because he is scared and is looking to defend himself. Hopefully he was set out into the wild where he can run around free without worrying about getting hit by a car, etc.
This coyote most likely got released. Chicago has one of the largest Urban Coyote program. They keep the rat population down when they venture out at night. This was a rare occurrence. They're usually not out during the day.
@pthizzy12 Well, obviously if someone believes that God is the creator of everything then they are going to think every situation has to do with God. Why so angry...
@peonpiate prove that god exists. we are NOT superior over all animals. (we are animals too, mammals, strange ones but still). animals rule the planet not us. FUCK you!
I think the coyote looks cute! And I believe that animal control released it back into the wild; if not, then that's sad, but one less isn't going to hurt. There needs to be a balance, and sadly, we as humans have a hard time with finding balance.
Animal control brought it out to release it in the wild. Bullshit. Animal control only does one thing to coyotes and that;s kill them. Animal control are a bunch of killers. They probably got hard ons when they killed this coyote. NEVER call animal control unless you want an animal killed. That's what they do.
@hyzercreek he was released they let him go in a forest preserve just out side Chicago my cousin lives near the forest where they let him go. he was see a week ago with a female and their pups.
You people are idiots. Have you never seen an Animal Cops episode? The catch pole is as humane as your grama's apple pie. It keeps everyone and everything safe and unharmed. Geez.
that's right a wounded animal is a million times more likely to attack and coyotes carry rabies. thanks for educating the people coz some people don't know. although between you and I who knows if they didn't finish him off later. I hear that city is overrun by coyotes and that they are becoming more aggressive. some coyotes killed a woman hiking on the trail in Maine recently.
He looks like he's waiting calmly for assistance and then they drag him out like that all shamefully; they were supposed to bring a cage into the place and close the resteraunt doors behind them so they can walk him into a kennal then bring him out in a kennal. Those workers look like they did that for the cameras while risking it getting away into the public those idiots. I should sign up again and work for animal control those people suck at their job.
Mr Willy coyote probably heard they were taking orders from PETA and HSUS.Thought he would be safe there.Wait till the wild animals start coming after kids and small pets.Wont be too funny then.
Please read the post again. But with the ARA movement there will be more like this with attacks. When we have no guns and the population is not controled it wont be nice.
Coyotes are everywhere in Chicago. They usually come out at night, so they aren't seen too often. But you'll find them by train tracks, sometimes in parks. No need to shed tears over this little guy. He was taken to a vet and then let go. I don't think it was obvious it was hurt because there were plenty of witnesses who saw the thing running down Jackson Blvd. before entering the Quiznos.
@HeyAtlas there would have been less stress if they just lured him into a caige, or tranqed him. But no one ever things of drugging the guy before taking em to a safe place, they always resort to choaking the poor thing near death....>:(
Coyotes are extremely territorial,& will kill other coyotes that attempt to intrude so I hope he"s not dead now(since he was released into the wild.)He was very "special" & some kind person in a special setting should have adopted him.
On the news a video was shown of the owner of the sandwich shop delivering a big, yummy, footlong sandwich to the coyote prior to its release in the wild.Coyotes are extremely intelligent which is maybe the reason he went there( to seek help for the wounded leg.)
I agree. And if the coyote had a wounded leg why did they carry him out like that and just "release him in the wild"? They should have tranquilized him, took him to a vet at least. Release him into the wild so he can die of his wounds??
Second, after they get done being 'so fucking cruel' with it, they will give it the best of care, bandage its leg and prepare it for life in the wild again. Third, grow a pair, its a fucking wild animal, it can handle being dragged a little bit. Cry me a river you PETA fascists.
Im stunned at some of the idiocy im reading in these comments. Animal control is cruel? First off, that coyote would be pretty damn cruel if they didnt have it collared up like that, bite the shit out of anyone that came near it.
augh dam animal control my friend's dogs used to play with a coyote on their daily walks but i guess the coyote went and found a new home...i wonder if that was the same coyote
It must have been a frightening experience for the coyote. In this VIDEO, the reporter said the animal had an injured leg. I really hope we're told when the coyote has been safely released into the wild. I suppose they'll put some kind of a chip or electronic monitor on the coyote, and maybe even give it a name.
It was a wild animal, they have to put those control collars around their necks and then get it quickly into a cage so that it doesn't bite anyone or hurt itself. They are trained professionals who choose to work with animals. It wouldn't be in their interests to be cruel because they would lose their jobs.
