  • Geeeezzz I can write something about as complex (structurally) that I'm able to play with my current guitar abilities (which are way lower than Mick's!) but after the piece gets to be around 15 seconds long I can't remember what I'm playing. It's so impressive how he writes stuff that's MUCH more difficult to play, and much longer, and he can remember it all. I wish I could play at his level, but I guess my first aspiration should be to get better at memorizing : )

  • and they r playin together and never lost in structure. awesomm.

  • @gredesandman yea, thats what im saying. i think i could noodle like this, itd just be really counter intuitive.

  • Incredibly complex, but that doesn't make it sound good.

  • @deluge71 its taken me more than a few listens haha. I would absolutely love to see it live though because i think it would be a thousand times better

  • OMG this song is way better than the 45 minute one!! I would definatley listen to this daily

  • @hofoshizzle it's not a single song, it's 4 songs played in rapid succession

  • Is this all you have of this concert? Love to see/hear more. "Iorxhscimtor"!!!

  • People don't realise how unbelievably complicated this is to play, the complexity is incredible!

  • @kingjamie721 yes sir it is! if anyone out there thinks they are just noodling you are sadly mistaken. check the japanese band Ruins if you dig this

  • Better than the horrible trash I've heard from them in the past (mostly the OV album). What is track from?

  • @Muloc7253 Pretty sure it's from Asristir Vieldriox.

  • Standing ovation.

  • rjtgu sdki aldso zmsdpd frog. got dsle olrf ksdj ! pdelf oro if.. ..fdkri

  • ties mpougkar fegka ti milare os fackare dos

  • there's nothing sick about this, this is okay (sick)

  • that guy can play the f*&^ing drums!!!

  • ACDC? Really? I could play that shit on a trumpet if i had to. Besides, how do you define talent? If you look at it from a strictly technical standpoint then these guys are gods.

If you define talent by who writes more appealing music to you, then you're an idiot.

  • excellent. one of my favorite Orthrelm clips i've yet found. note to folks into this: be sure to check out OCRILIM , OCTIS (both= Mick Barr)...also ZACH HILL / MICK BARR ( they have an album entitled: Shred Earthship ) also: THE FLYING LUTTENBACHERS , YOWIE....just a few i-deers, y'all.

  • This music is like an abstract painting, takes just as much skill (sometimes more) as conventional music, it's just much more creative.

  • Those of us who are fans of this music (Orthrelm, Hella, Behold The Arctopus, etc.) are quite accustomed to the kind of abuse that is so amply displayed here. What makes this particular instance so hurtful is that we are being bashed by such intelligent people! "Sucks horrible donkey dick"? I truly hope this comment came from someone who is either sterile or too young to contribute to the gene pool.

  • @deluge71 Well i guess you can laugh knowing that Mick Barr got a 25,000 dollar grant for his innovation. I personally think this music is hard to listen to for any length of time without going insane. But then again i think the same thing about Rap and simple stuff too. Its so radically different from anything pleasant on the ears that I dont know how to like it even being a musician who is interested in complex music.

  • @perfectoblong

The difference between your comment and some of the others is that it's well reasoned. I understand that appreciation for this kind of thing is highly subjective, and you seem to get that as well.

  • @deluge71 I have made a conscious effort to understand this style of music and I see it as sort of a challenge. Its like reading a book that is hard to read.

  • @perfectoblong Exactly. Listening to this stuff for a few seconds then writing it off is like speed-reading Kierkegaard and deciding that it sucks.

  • @deluge71 Well put :)

  • @deluge71 yeah man! I remember when they were at the che caffe on the sdsu campus. a lot of the shit heads tried to be all gay and yell out stupid shit and mosh but enevitably sucom to the awesomeness and stood there in awe at what was happening in front of them.

  • I'm glad for your support! I unfortunately missed Orthrelm the one time they played in North Carolina. I envy you for having witnessed them in a live setting!

  • @deluge71 Some people just don't intellectually get it. They hear a string of notes played as fast as humanly possible, all treble/no bass, and can't think of it as music. It either sounds like dicking around or people just putting together exercises into songs. What they don't realize is what sounds random is actually fully composed, if statements from these bands are to be believed. Which, think of what a massive undertaking that must be. These bands can do over 100,000 notes per album easy

  • @michealdark/perfectoblong: I hear you. It's taken time for me to understand that people who don't "get" complex music aren't necessarily ignorant or lazy. I love abstract philosophy, but can't "get" Derrida to save my life. So by some standards, I'm the one who is shallow. I was just calling out the haters, whose criticism is largely simple-minded and pedantic. I'll just shut up and let them get back to their Six Feet Under albums.

  • hahahahaha he said sand nigger. hes smart

  • tacobell has done wonders for your PEDESTRIAN EAR.

  • WHAT?? Listen to Iorxhscimtor these are songs 3, 4 and 5 from that album. How can you think it's made up on spot!?!?

  • WOW YOU SUCKS

  • You obviously haven't heard John Zorn then.

  • you have no idea what you're talking about. lol

  • hes gotta' be like a robot or somethin'

  • fuuuuck yoou henryslimdix lol fuckin' guitar player hater

  • haha yea it's pretty unbelievable.. everyone is jealous of what these dudes can do, then seeing them live and hearing the drums and guitar amps actually MAKE sound !!

  • SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK

  • i saw them live a couple years ago, and I'm still having withdraws!!! i really like when they do the "clean" guitar stuff! they need to do an entire album without distortion, that would sound awesome! it's weird that someone said this was fake, since you can see and hear everything they're doing...

  • Ha, um... have you seen them live? They are DEFINITELY not playing to a pre - recorded tape! When you are standing two feet in front of them I will then let you decide what you think of this band... Also, do you realize they are playing the same thing on two different instruments? Very meticulously and ridiculously thought out music...

  • lol, that's the dumbest shit i've ever heard. fuck off.

  • it might be a paradox, but these guys are more insane than ruins, cheval de frise and behold... the arctopus put together.

  • whats with that girl??

  • This band makes me shit, and the shit, being provoked into excretion by this triumphant fucking band, is a delicacy in many eastern-block European countries, and used for research by NASA in attempts at faster-than-light travel.

  • ok no can fucking get that comment u smart ass

  • Wow, you're intelligent. May fate intervene and severe your testes before you get a chance to create offspring and spread your ignorance.

  • asdj9f8asdjfoaj39fjaj392jf[jj a;sdflj; !!

  • wow that was insane.. the band must have telepathy..lol kinda reminds me of mahavishnu orchestra..

  • they're the best!

  • OMG!!!!! I love orthrelm so much. OV is definitely on my top 10 best albums. I live in south florida and know good bands ever come here, but orthrelm did!!!! Hooray!

  • This is the most technical band I've ever heard. I think they're more technical than even Painkiller,Naked City,Racer-X,and Hella. That's saying something. Mick's the most amazing guitarist ever!

  • Nice!! I saw them before The Locust in London.. 2004? It was a jawdropping experience. The Sound was amazing too floor tom wobbled the floor, bassdrum kicked your chest!! The crowd was a bit 50-50 though.
