I have purchased over 30 blankets and down comforters with most costing a buck. Just got a $400.00 tent, used twice for $25.00 and a screened room for ten bucks. Ice chest, a buck, over 30 lbs of candles probably cost me $8-9.00., fishing rod, $2.00, wheel barrel $5.00. Why pay retail when your neighbors are just about giving it away?
@TheLordSod I suppose some of them more or less collect them, but a lot of them are probably showing off. Oh and in a SHTF situation I suppose you could use them for bartering?
Those knives should make great barter/trade items in a SHTF event. I really enjoy your channel and am motivated to check out yard sales around here! :)
@FirstPlaceDelgado I agree with FirstPlaceDelgado; god will provide. god will provide as long as you go to work to make money to go buy food and water so that you can feed your family. And god will protect you too...as long as you go to work to make money to purchase a firearm and learn how to use it so you can protect yourself and your loved ones. god will provide. Thank god. I feel way better now, no need to prep!!
Jesus' dad rules!! Jesus' dad totally rocks!! No, seriously. Rules.
@ArizonaPublic Check your spectacles...they appear to be either gold or gold-filled frames....too good for using as a magnifying glass for sure...if they read "1/10, 1/12, or 1/20" 10k or 14k....then they are gold filled and just fair value....if they read 10k or 14 k and no fraction of "G.F." comment, probably good to sell and get more yard sale cash.
@ArizonaPublic yes..it's 12 karat gold filled...def worth saving ..as gold reaches new highs..maybe your future yard saling will turn up some more (watch the pinback service type buttons..10 yr service, etc as they are often g.f.). You can get a nice bid on eBay once you get a small pile saved. Just didn't want you to toss it in the trash, if you need the lense later lol. Good luck in your searches. I buy old pocket knives (bone handles etc) even in poor condition, in case you find others
@ArizonaPublic I think a mossberg 590 is a much better choice than the m1 garand. It holds 8 shots plus one in the chamber. Slugs are very devastating and accurate at about 100 yds I haven't tried anything further but it would probably perform. And a handgun just in case you might have to reload but don't have time. We are entering rough times and 99% of the sheeple have no clue.
You should remember, What if someone is " Diabetic " ? They shoudl have a supply to survive a 3-4 Month Period. Just a thought, cause I am in Medical my Great Friend ! LOL
Hey Mike looks like you had a good time shopping. If you will allow me I would like to make a couple suggestions that I put in my bag. For fuel, if All I can find is wet. I keep Birch bark in my bag. It's light and compresses real nice and it only takes a little to get twigs going. Then I have a piece of magnesium. Scrape a little onto your fuel and one spark from flint will ignite it.
Harbor frieght has some good prices for tools. Hand tools will be important in the future. Everybody should learn how to build, do basic plumbing, and fix cars.
@007wetz = Harbor freight sells cheap chinese junk for tools , Always much better to find good American made tools at yard sales for super cheap prices
But I like the angle of you using them as a way to make money or just to buy cheap stuff. After seeing what you got I might have to check them out in the future.
Hey Mike 4 lbs of scrap copper seems to be 12 dollars. Wow you could make a 12 dollar profit off that maybe.
That guy george4title interviewed seemed to be making a modest living at selling garage sale items at a profit. Have you thought of selling that copper? Why were they selling all that copper? very strange. You should get into yard saling and selling the scraps or products it on ebay or scrapping it on a profit.
I thought of that, I might do that too.. Today I saw a guy selling a 1940's M1 Garand .30 cal for $80 but...I dint have the money!...The copper I just added to my already big box of copper that I have been saving for many years.... :-)
Copper has gone through the roof and hit new all time highs. Now is a great time to buy any scrap copper and SELL. If I was going to a yard sale looking for aluminum, copper, gold, and silver would be what I would be eyeing cause you can sale that for scrap. Not really interested in selling items on ebay with all those fees and a good chance it wont sell + low margins. Scrap metals OR high priced items might be the best strategy for making good income off yard sale I think?
I think your right. I used to do ebay selling stuff like video games and old cell phones but by the time paypal & ebay took their fee's I didnt make much at all...Only use ebay to buy stuff now. This week as yard sales start to pop up I will be hitting them early. Saw a lot of Jewelery but didnt go through them but I will this next time for sure.
Great to hear. I think jewelery could be a good focus. Most people are really stupid so they will just sale jewerly at a much less price what they think they bought it when they bought it brand new years ago cause its used. But what they forget is that after inflation and the huge spike in silver/gold prices that jewelery is worth a lot more old than when they bought it used years ago. Even that scrap copper you got was valuable. Anything made out of metal look for
Nice finds, the copper was a great deal! I've been picking up $25 boxes of pennies at my bank and sorting out the pre-1982 pennies. They are 95% copper and have almost a 3 cent melt value so that's nearly a 300% profit! 30% of the box was pre-1982 so I picked up 5 pounds for next to nothing! Check out coinflation (dot) com, I highly suggest hoarding pre-1982 pennies and picking up a box of nickels.
Good advice, I did not realize that pre 1982 pennies are 95% copper...well, Looks like I need to do some research on that and looks like I have a new hobby!..
@skyding8962 I know it is illegal to melt pennies but hopefully one day it wont be, not only that but LONG term copper prices will rise, as does all industrial metals for the most part. When the third world countries start to develop they will need copper for indoor plumbing. Currently over 40% of the world is without ANY form of indoor plumbing. Could be used as bartering maybe? Finding some wheat pennies is easy in a box, those can be worth a buck or two :P
I picked up an antique American made potbelly stove in great cond for only $25 worth about $200. , A like new Pendleton wool shirt for 50 cents , A Winchester 22 cal semi auto rifle in exc cond for $120
Great find on that .22 Cal, I ran into a guy that had a M1 Garand .30 cal he was selling for $80 but I didnt have the cash and my wife was giving me a dirty look when I was talking to the guy....lol, But I did get his phone number... I might call him when my wife aint looking.
@ArizonaPublic = Them M1 Garands can be worth about $800.00 to $1,000.00 as i recall , check out the website known as gunbrokers and you can see how expensive they are
Wow, great find... The radios look brand new. I think this is something I need to implement into my weekends as well. Thanks for the heads up.
