So, what will power your precious bikes in the future, solar power? Extension cords? Oh, and the metal your bikes are made out of came from...wait for it.....mines! Yes, the area is beautiful, but, believe it or not, has a rich mining history. Mining, resource extraction and development can co-exist. What would you propose for work instead? Welfare?
I lived in Whitehorse for 5 years back in '88 to '92. I used to run a truck down to Telegraph from Whitehorse once a month. I was some of the most spectacular scenery I have ever enjoyed, especially in the winter.
If you guys had turned right off the road about 30 kms west of Dease, just before the road goes down to the Days Ranch, you would have gone up to a breathtaking area near the Golden Bear Mine....
By the way...run this area in the winter....its a surreal dream-scape...
I wonder if the Stikine River Song is still owned by a guy named Dan...I hauled 24 batteries, massive 100 lb batteries from Whitehorse down to Telegraph back in '90...got down there and Dan weaseled me into taking them to his newly built 3000 sq ft cabin...through snow drifts...so we chained up and gingerly picked our way across a one lane bridge with one half of the duals hanging over the side, and then skidded the batteries in with two guys and a shovel....
The Stikine River Song store is an old Hudson's Bay Trading Post...and there is a bush trail, used back during the days of the gold rush, that runs to Atlin, B.C
This is the area of madmen and marauders....look up and read the stories of Albert Johnson, the Mad Trapper of Rat River and then 80 years later, Michael Oros...AKA, Sheslay Mike....both killed police officers and both were almost impossible to track and catch, virtual super-bushmen, both were killed by the Law.
After your Arctic Adventure experience with the KTM 990, what are your conclusions about the overall reliability of the bike? It's obvious that it is one of the best adventure bikes, but is it a good daily commuter?
@TWadventurerider We have a full review based on the adventure on OneWheelDrive. Net. Long term reliability is something we can't speak to based on experience unfortunately, as we only had the bike as a loaner for a couple of months.
Two thumbs up!!! Bought an F800Gs this year after watching your Arctic Adventure series. Got me real inspired to get out and explore our beautiful province.
atv's are way better on a trip like that - haul more gear and fuel-- stable in the marbles and greasey mud -- i useto use big enduro's - but i switched to atv's
@sasktank Unfortunately ATV's don't really gel with the "getting there" part of this sort of trip. Need to be able to do big distances quickly and be street legal too.
Absolutely loved it. Longer format was very enjoyable, and the last couple minutes were the best. Great video. Wish I could give it more than five stars.
I'm now working on the Dempster which has some of the best footage of the series. So that's going to take a bit of editing. Right now it's about 22 minutes, which is the same as a half hour TV episode :\
Well worth the wait. I like the longer format, and don't mind the nature conservation speech at all. This is now on the list of places to visit before I, or they, die.
This road and the destination are so worth the trip. The Riversong, the only accommodation in town, was built in 1898 as Hudson Bay Company outpost, but was located approximately 10kms down stream. The outpost was later relocated to its current location. It also has some of the best apple pie in North America. Unfortunately that bit didn't have enough footage to make it into the video.
My MacBookPro died, it's very last render was this video, so I'm happy to have been able to post it at all. Also this video was a little more in depth and complex to edit, so it took a bit longer.

Might be rough going for a bit, waiting to hear how long my Mac will be out of commission. On a borrowed laptop right now :(
Will keep going by hook or by crook.

Nice!
Worth the wait. 10 minutes is far more satisfying than the previous video shorts.
Keep 'em coming!
Amazing scenery...I can almost smell the fragrance of the pine and river mist. I'll be back in country later this year...
Good quality video too.
And to "Choopdewoot"...these aren't "Fred" videos...this kind takes serious time to script, edit, compose and render. As I have discovered....

why is there such a delay inbetween videos?
