  • 3:47 - I don't think that guy got the point of the movie. This was not a movie telling us we need to build more railroads. LOL!

Anyway, I liked the story & the realism of the technical drawings of the motor Dagny & Hank found but other times there was extremely horrible film making such as 1940's style windows in an office in a building which is a modern, glass skyscraper, people drinking morning, noon & night despite being set in the future, unnecessary landscape shots, etc.

  • Atlas Shrugged ....blueprint for use by the illuminati.

  • Someone said 2 me Ayn was racist. My response was Govenuer Morris may have own slaves (it maybe how I got my name) but he still wrote: "ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL. And so I don't repeat myself see comments at the review by Sedona Patriots. And IwroteHansmoleman please, Please, PLEASE. Watch the Fountainhead, then get the audiobook. I promise U won't get what some of the morons claiming to love Ayn Rand got.

  • I know in Colorado the minority populace is probably around 5%, but a dark face wouldve been nice. That aside, this brwn face love's Ayn's books, yet I feel a great many people didnt get what I got from it. U C, I am a creator, yet, I suffer what Ayn wrote of 3-fold. Watching idiots call it an indictment of liberals, & racist twisting it to justify whatevr rusty ax they got2 grind. & worst of all fools equating idealism w/ plausibl realism. I refer 2 myself as a Man others call me a Blk man.

  • Rand's dialogue was often heavy handed beyond belief. Unfortunately that tended to discredit her political concepts.

That is a shame, because her political concepts are absolutely correct. They must not be dismissed merely because her dialogue is badly written.

The film is not showing in the Far East where I live, so I can't really comment on the filmed version. But hopefully the fim makers have addressed this problem as best they can.

The positive reaction from viewers is a good sign.

  • Atlas Shrugged is KING : )

  • Armin Shimerman's in this film.. irony of the highest order.

  • They missed the triumph, the heroic!

  • They missed the triumph, the heroic!

  • The movie is great! EVEN THE SECOND TIME XD

3rd in the box office! Woohoo

When I got home, I downloaded and watched The Fountainhead. Good movie also.

  • look at all those white people. this video makes me want to puke

  • @GHOSTBONERZ racist troll is racist troll^

  • @yankeewh1te You're right. I am racist. I am racist against my own race. White people are the most self righteous assholes on this planet and they make me ashamed of my own skin.

  • @GHOSTBONERZ Get out the word. More black folk should see the movie!

  • Can see why movie is being panned by MSM and those pushing altruism rather than value for value in human interactions, including buisness. The movie message is so good and shows the mess that altruism is making of US and most of rest of world. Highly recommended! And good to see this interview of audience - hope some others do it elsewhere! Would have liked to tell others in Tempe AZ when seen there yesterday :) Greater Phx - are you out there?! Go watch it!

  • First read AS about 44 years ago after reading Anthem 50 years ago when 16; I've read AS 2 more times since, last over 10 yrs ago, plus all her other books. Movie was very good representation of AR's message even w/ the whittling down that becomes necessary when condensing a long philosophical novel. Good that there are the 2 remaining parts to come - looking forward to them. Also acting was excellent (glad they weren't BIG names) & cinematography very good. Highly recommended to everyone!

  • I'm certainly happy with the movie even though much of the detail that gives the book its unique feel is missing. I have also read Atlas and most of Ayn Rands other work. I think the movie will spark interest in Rands ideas. Those ideas could save us all.

  • As I've mentioned, I loved this movie! It boiled down hundreds of pages into a smooth moving narrative but I don't think movie goers who haven't read the book will be able to follow the story line all that well. Also, when the end credits come on and the cast if FINALLY listed, I wasn't sure who played what. I figured out the actors who portrayed Dagney Taggart and Hank Rearden but not the others. Maybe this will be better presented in Part II.

  • The bad news is: Atlas Shrugged has been translated in almost every european country, except in France. No french tvaluable ranslation has been available for the last 50 years.

The good new is: thanks to an american John Galt, a french courageous publisher and myself (as a translator), it will be available by the end of the year. When is the movie coming in France?

I'm so happy to hear about these reactions to the movie. Vive l'Amérique !

  • I just realized that there should be a law that fans of Ayn Rand be forced to get tattoos or something to identify themselves. How else is one to know who it's safe to talk to? :-)

  • @tubelarr

Perhaps a gold star to be worn on the clothing at all times, eh? I do hope you're joking...

  • @spacerconrad Yeah I was joking :) After I posted that I was afraid someone would take it the wrong way. All I meant was that it would be nice to know who other Rand fans are because they would be interesting to talk to.

  • Thanks for sharing the reactions. Regarding the woman who likened the film to "Dynasty". I recall thinking the same thing at one point. I think it was a scene with Dagney walking through the lobby or corridor of Taggart Transcontinental and runs into Eddie, who confronts her with a problem. Something about his expression and her reaction that made it seem soap-opera-ish. Still in all, I enjoyed the movie and the conversations I had with other audience members after the film.

  • Amen. What the hell does Ebert know? He's never had a succesful film script.

  • thanks for capturing these reactions!

  • More than we expected, perfect place to end it - one of my favorite parts. Excellent choice of actors. Was nice to let the characters come alive without star faces to confuse us. The girls got weepy twice - the running of the J.G. line and of course, the end. Scenery was gorgeous. More, more!

  • How come our liberal friends who make good money don't live minimally and give away all their extra cash to those more needy - in the name of equalization? Just a reminder that they don't live what they say they believe.

  • Man, thank you for this video! I think this is a great idea that you filmed people's reactions after the film! People need to catch on and make similar videos in their local theaters. I loved the Film myself. I have a video review on my page also. Check it out.

  • Videoguy, if that is what you think, then you really don't get it at all.

  • Dear Beethovens7th , I included everybody who agreed to be interviewed. Of course, as everyone rushed out of the theater, I was able to attract the attention only of a few. One lady who declined to be interviewed said she didn't much care for the film, likening it to "Dynasty." -Ari

  • Is this everybody that you talked to? Was there anyone there who had a negative reaction?

  • Loved this movie! terrific job by cast and scripwriters. I was very much surprised at how well it turnedout. Looking forward to Parts 2 and 3.

Only problem the credits didn't tell who played what part. ayn rand would be proud.

  • @jasonfury The cast member's names were shown at almost the very end of the credits.

  • "They kinda hammerd the left and you gotta respect that" LOL!

  • Thank you videoguy604 and DaWolfey for illustrating the poise, eloquence, and tight argumentation of the typical critic of Ayn Rand and her ideas.

  • I've read the book twice I can't wait to see the movie.

  • Maybe it will get a few businessmen to realize that they should be proud of making money instead of giving it away. I hope the book sells better this year than the half a million it sold in 2009.
