I don't think its tuned too high, its just not tuned very well. It has a really weird ring to it. Basically his overtones aren't controlled very well (seeing the lack of mufflers on the head, which aren't really necessary if you know how to tune, but he obviously needs it) , or his resonant head isn't tuned well at all, or both.
I agree, any snare would sound like that so tight, I'd also like to hear it's real sound. I think however this guy has chops, but his playing just isn't very tight right now. I love my K's, I got an 18" Dark Thin Crash and a 20" K Ride, I'm really looking into getting the K Hats, but they're so expensive.
everyone loves the snare sound , but it sounds sick casue its so tight , get a decent pearl snare and tune it really tight and you get a similar sound
Yeah, but when you get that sound with a pearl drum I find that's it's really good for metal because it has a clear and aggressive attack. When you get a snare from OCDP and tune it high you get a snare that's good for alternative or funk, you know?
that's an emperor X. Very recommendable head (depending on which snare drum are you using). I'm currently using that on my snare drum and it works great, best head I've used so far, and it lasts an eternity
snice kit . snare sucks to be honest mate you've bought a nice snare but fuck do you know how to tune it. check out tmd customs for some a cheaper option of orange county but with all the wuality if not more as it is only one guy.
hahahaha your arm gets all stupid when you play your tom yes i know flat feels good i prefer playin my toms flat too, but lift your seat to where your snare is at your waist that helps me and tune down the snare you can hurt peoples' ears and your own
try tuning down a bit and getting some fattness out of that snare. it sounds like popcorn popping. unless your in a marching band no reason to crack people's heads open
I hate it when people show off their drum set and they suck. Just cause you have a nice set, doesn't make you good at drums. Your alright, but the improv solo wasn't very good. It just didn't really flow well, like random beats over and over. Sorry. I feel like an ass.
Good video i love the tightness of your snare, just how i like mine. Can you please tell me where you got that snare from, I've been searching the web for ages tying to find an OCDP dealer in the UK? Cheers!!
the drummer in my band tuned an export snare really high and it has a similar sound to yours but has a little less resonance... i'm not sure whether i think that's a good thing or not yet.
ur snares sounds reli gud man although i get a cheap ass dixon snare 4 £15 tuned it up the f**k and it sounds just as gud maybe beta! money cant always get u a gr8 sound
man, you can make any snare sound like that if you tune it up like hell. you don't need an expensive snare to do that. and i can recommend you to have your ride higher, and not keeping your tom flat.
I have all zildjian cymbals. 19'' and 16'' A custom crashes. 14'' z custom bottom hat and K top hat. 20'' a custom ride. 16'' zxt china. Really need to get a better china and a splash plus zil bell!
Depends on what piece of hardware i would say. Tama have a better bass pedal and hi hat stand in my opinion. Pearl make really nice snare and cymbal stands probs better than tama. what you looking to buy?
Cheers dude. Sounds even better now. i need to get a new top head for the tom and it should sound good. Its as good as i can get a pearl export. Soon need to save a by individual custom drums. What kit you got?
dude that looks exactly like my OC snare. even the same head that i use. quad vented? you can hear my oc snare (but its not my kit or cymbals) if you search "introducing c-pez". that's crazy man.
Tuning my snare is a never ending battle for me. I like it tuned far lower than many people, because i really like to hear the resonance and depth of the drum. That said, my snare constantly detunes itself, given that the lugs are relatively loose all the time. When it's right though, it sounds INCREDIBLE. The problem mostly arose when i swapped out with a new batter head, so it should get better over time. Anyway, good job on the video.
its not like it sounds bad... but ocdp is overrated... and overpriced... phattie and Battlefield are the best custom companies in my opinion... and spaun makes some sick snares... and SJC gives the most options for the lowest price...
and to your playing, you got some wierd ostinato kinda things goin... theyre a bit messy but i like them
Yeah, the Battlefield drum company build amazing drums, and there are not that expensive like ocdp! I buyed one last year and the Sound is amazing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yea i really like that company... the best part about them to me is that theyre an hour commute... so i can pick them up myself and not pay shipping if i get a whole kit... even tho im still trying to get a phattie customs kit...
i have a 14" hollow body snare with claw mount wood hoops for my side snare... that thing sounds amazing...
yea its got a thick woody rinshot and rim click...
actulaly the rims take a bit longer since theres the relative tension form the claw then to the rim then to the head... theyre worth it for sound and appearance...
I wouldn't say that OCDP is overrated, they really are great sounding drums. I would definitely agree that they're overpriced though. A true custom OCDP snare (not one that you buy from a dealer) will run you about 1000-1200 dollars, which is ridiculous markup IMO.
just over 6 years now and im not in a band because i just love playing for my own enjoyment. Ye double pedal can make you lazy but sound great when you can use em right. I wanted a power glide but instead went for the rolling glide instead. Went to see Thomas Lang not so long ago at a clinic tour, he was mind blowing.
i own a premier cabria laquer kit, i have a zildjian crash, zildjian splash and zildjian ride also an ocdp snare 20 ply with 4 vents in and black powder coating on the lugs and rims cost me £370 of ebay. Finally i have an iron cobra double pedal (rolling glide) which is awsome.
Yer at the moment i have a single iron cobra power glide pedal. Its getting a bit old so will be getting a dw 9000 series pedal. At some point i will get a double but atm like sticking to singles and getting really good on them. how long have you been playing for?
There are 4 vents in it and its a 20 ply keller maple shell. yer it was just me mucking around. I will put some videos up soon of me playing to some songs. cheers for commenting. Roo.
yeah thats true, ocdp parts also btw are regarded by some as the best parts on the planet, and ur snare has such a....cant explain the sound tbh but i will say its awesome lol
