these fights are not instanced and take place in the main world to capture cities, destroy them, ect, right? Cause I just started to play and it would be awesome to run through a fight like this and stealthily loot all the dead guys and run away

@ all you noobs darkfall is meant to be skilled driven yes noobs are alot alot weaker than skilled up chars but thats how it is in every game you grind to get up there all it takes is about 3 months till ur rdy for good pvp just quit your bitching and actually try the game umberto is one of the best pvpers in DF you cant expect to join and be like him.. btw darkfall takes skills and real life game skills if you cant aim or know when to back down or how to build ur char ull fucking suck Smokey :P

face it haters, Darkfall was released, was successful, continues to grow, and will go down in history as one of the most influential and game changing MMOs of all time. get back to me in 6 years or so and see if you can deny it then. we're just a year into it. look at where Eve was after just a year. this is only the beginning of MMOs branching out and changing the ideas about what an MMO can be in the publics mind.

i bought an EU account and transferred the character to NA server, and I can safely say its not hard to play, or even skill based on that matter.. but then again i've played 7 years of counter strike so aiming is not an issue for me

@jimmydoonz who said anything about hard to play? why is your aiming an issue? thats admitting it takes skill to play the game btw. you are confirming that the game in fact utilizes that skill. and you use many other real life skills in the game as well.

I quit playing, but am watching out for more improvements and may pick it back up (money/time is an issue..) The one BIG issue that is hurting Darkfall is the difference in all the stats from a naked new char to a skilled up char, they simply need to narrow the gap so that leveling up will be more of a process of getting your new helpful spells and abilities rather than trying to skill up just to have a competitive edge or compete with already skilled up players..

@Clyaton i completely agree. wholeheartedly. i'd be playing on a regular basis if i felt i was anywhere roughly even in character abilities with other people. i even go as far as to wish everyone had the pretty much the same power (could differentiate people by giving them x points to spend in various skills) from start. Darkfall would be close to my dream game without the char progression (thus the imbalance).

thats the main thing that keeps me from subbing much (only subbed 3 months).

@Clyaton unfortunately, doing that never works. Just look at what happened to WoW when they started conforming to this idea.

@xxleaf00 They didn't do that in WoW, and WoW is an entirely different case. In WoW, you can't compete with someone with a 10 level gap difference. They'd show up as a ?? from what I remember. I'm merely saying, there is a MASSIVE advantage with only slightly higher stats, because it adds up very fast with each hit, and extra more powerful skills and abilities. They just need to narrow the gap so people don't focus as much on the skilling because they are vital with the right gear from day 1

@xxleaf00 An example of what I mean, is if 3-4 characters are several hours into play, as opposed to a character who has skilled up many things to 100 and has all his fire magic spells, the 3-4 players should have a chance to kill him if they know what they are doing (most new players don't of course, it takes time). The way it is, a fully equipped skilled up player can take out several newbs and a few butt ass naked. They HAVE been narrowing the gap since day 1, so maybe it's better now neway

I just can't get into Darkfall, it's extremely visually unappealing. If they redid the UI, smoothed out the animations, redid spell effects and do a complete overhaul to the character models+armor/items, THEN I would take a serious look at this game.

I've always been one to tout gameplay > looks, but in this case I take back that statement. A real deal breaker for me.

I quited darkfall.. best thing ever happened to me.. now i play mo" where actually playerskills matter way more than in df.. i have over 400murdercounts and way under 10 deaths in pvp sitsuations.. awesome game...

Remember 2 things

1/ This is a HUGE fight. Very few MMOs can support the number of people fighting in one place as well as Darkfall can.

2/ Because so many people are in one place and because the person recording the video doesn't have a super computer and because fraps is a resource hog, he has all settings turned to minimum

Mostly so you can maintain your momentum. E.g. While running from an enemy (kite) use archery to jump, spin around, shoot, spin back around - all in one action.

This was the best PVP I have been a part of since launch. It was the smoothest and most epic. The back and forth of the battle was staggering, every time I thought we had lost the city we rallied and pushed them out. Really was a phenomenal time. Nicely edited video as well.

umberto this is killah priest, nice vid dude but u do realise that "rage" skill health effect removes itself if u switch to staff or bow, so make sure u wait a few seconds to get all the health ticks from it before switchin again
