@xXVikingninjaXx If you're looking to be a scratch DJ, go 800mk2s, and if you're more into mixing, go for the 400s. The 800s' platters are great for scratching, and the 400s can scratch and have additional features. :)
but if you dont have the money go for the cdj-400!
to be sure i have never seen anyone using frequently the LOOP FEATURES on the cdj800/850/900 but the hot cues i have SEEN A LOT man!
and if you dont use the hot cues on your 1000mk3 go for the cdj400 and you will be more happie because you will forget about your cds and you will turn into USB sticks!
I had a look at some second hand CDJ 400's in a store the other day.. and the jog wheels felt absolutely awful, they were really plasticy and felt loose. Same with the CDJ 1000 mk2's. I always thought pioneer was best of the best? Was this just because they were second hand?
would these be ideal for me if i want to use them for small parties and home practice to prepare me for playing with cdj 1000s and 2000s in clubs and bars ??
Question: When you say that the CDJ-400's can be used with DJS software, are you talking about VDJ as in Virtual DJ, and if so, what Ver will support the CDJ-400
im researching to get these cdj's and wow i think i learned a lot more watching this vid than other "reviews" ive seen here posted on Youtube, best hands-on review imo thanks!!
@HilaryB30 yes, but on the new cdj2000 & 900 they have a link feature. You just connect a cable into them & you can play music from just 1 source. USB or CD.
I'm having the same problem mate. Thought it was my ears at first. I've got a feeling it's to do with the midi settings that may have saved in the cdj system drive. And therefore comes through speakers completely off sync when in CD mode. Either that or a BUG?? can you restart these puppies? Or maybe update software or clean inside?
Hi, i've got cdj 400s and was wondering if anybody knows how to set it so that you can play an album from start to finish, without having to manually cue up the next track??
@HostilePro I dont have them myself but I saw a video on the cdj 800 & theres a button called auto cue. Just turn that on or off as you need it. Apparently it's the same on the cdj 400. Peace.
i have found the same proplem with my pioneer cdjs 400 that i got they keep skiping when i try to mix it is realy hard to hold a mix with the jumping that they do is any one eles haveing the same proplem like me and terbowilson and how can i fix it
I recently bought a set of these, and was wondering if someone could give me some help.
When i put a new cd in to mix. I cue the track ready and beatmatched, but then the tempo will jump. Say i have the tempo set at 125, it will jump to 126 for a example. Then if i try to adjust it, it will do the same.
I second Hsoutinho's question. Also where in the world can you even find advice on house music equipment? I am a very good researcher and I've given up.

@djuav The behringer DDM4000 is a great piece of equipment. Generally Behringer have really bad mixers but this ones a real work of art. at a quarter of the price of the djm800. Does more as well. For Christmas I got 1 CDJ 400 and 1 DJM 400. both are quality pieces of hardware, lots of fun to mess with and the fx are pretty sweet. i still need to buy another cdj though my parents only could afford to get me one.
You can still mix with only using 1 CDJ by using the mixer with the roll effect to create a 8/1 loop and then moving the crossfader all the way to other side, cueing up a new song and matching the beat and then slowly moving the fader back and turning down the roll efect knob
i h\ve the 499s and i will honestly tell ya i they r twice as good as 800s i used em both i like the feel of the 400 jog wheel r in my opion better haha this is no joke i prefer them to the 1000s even

hey johnathan, great vid man. i bought a pair of these decks last year after using technics for years haven't looked back!!!i'm just wondering do u know what the best usb device for these decks. got a great dvd from internet with 4 gb of tunes so burning to cd would take forever!!!tried meory stick but it sometimes hangs when searching using platter. any advice would be great..cheers
very good cdj .... and it's also great for beginners , i recommend cdj 400 instead of cdj 200 , because cdj 200 does not have vinyl mode and vinyl mode is a good way to learn...
Question: I know the CDJ400 plays MP3's off disks - and as far as I can read, does NOT support any other file format (wav, mp4, etc) from disk. However, when connecting an iPod, hard drive, flash drive, etc. - will it support the other file formats? or would it always have to be mp3? I buy mostly mp4 or wav files for better sound quality, and am wondering if I would have to convert my entire collection to use these decks...
Thanks for the vid Jonathan! I´m a vinyl DJ and tomorrow I'll be djing with this CDJs for a TV show but never had a go with them b4...u helped a lot mate! cheers
just a question, the kit i have now (not as good as cdj400) measures bpm quite well and shows it in tenths as well, eg. 128.4 bpm.
i noticed on this it only does whole bpm, does this mean it slightly changes the song to be exactly 128 from 128.4 . Or does it just show 128 when it is acctually 128.4, so when i mix a track that is actually 128.1 and the track which is 128.4 (both displaying 128bpm), they will be out of sync in a few second because one is slightly faster than the other?
i have a question. i just got my new CDJ - 400 and on the outside of the jogwheel the rim is a bit loose. However i also bought another CDJ - 400 and its the same. is this a coinsidence and should i send them back or is this with every CDJ - 400
what kind of loose? cause the wheel to fine tune ur beat matching is very loose and I feel it should be but take it back to the dealer if you are not sure if this is right...... didn't you try the CDJ before buying it? hope it works out for you
I agree. Much better than the CDJ-800. I am a professional Club DJ and own a pair of these on the side. Originally I was going to pick up a pair of 800s as I didn't have the budget for CDJ 1000s at the time and a few DJs were eager to sway my attention away from the 800s and onto the 400s. The 400s may not mimic the look of CDJ 1000s as do the 800s, but they allow much more hands on creativity and are by far more advanced digitally. So I highly recommend the CDJ 400.
I have 2 CDJ-800's and the DJM 909. by far.. this is all you need to be a professional DJ. Unless you get the. i got 50 effects built into this mixer (every DJ effect is in this mixer).. it's a 2 channel. and i don't need a 4 channel. check my video out
after burning cds after cds (audio is better to handle than mp3) i've come to a point where its so hard to remember which album has the cd i want and there will be so many cd cases.. i would go with serato and a macbook today.
By the way to make it clear the email addy below is if anyone is interested and from the uk only for jog wheel graphics.can be for any flat jogwheel. Soz for the spam if it come across that way just helpin fellow djs out lol
There is little in means of logos n designs for the job wheel but as I do signmaking I can make vinyl graphics ill try and put my email on here so it accepts it so ignore spaces. djdibz @ hotmail . co . uk. Gotta say love these decks and the vids are awsome help to get to know the kit
ive been busy mixing hardstyle now for over a month
just with a hercules midi controller and traktor 3 for mac
i wanna upgrade my setup to better gear and i saw a few complete dj sets with the cdj 200 + djm 400 or the cdj 400 +400 in a store nearby my living place from a pioneer dealer. which cdj would you suggest? i personaly thought the cdj 400 because i dont have alot of cd's most of em downloaded from mp3 sites but the cdj 400 is like 400E more expensive
i just bought 2 cdj 400. and im thinkin of buying DJS to go with it. can u pls make a video on how to set it up with the computer. pls pardon my ignorance. hehehe im still a new DJ. thanx
i watch a lot of your videos and i must say they are very helpful. i just want to know what dj gear u will recomend for an intermediate dj who wants to upgrade from american audio psx1. i like to mix and wants something with a good scratching feature... thank you
this is some very good dj equipment you got there would love to mix on that if i could afford it.

very good cdj .... and it's also great for beginners , i recommend cdj 400 instead of cdj 200 , because cdj 200 does not have vinyl mode and vinyl mode is a good way to learn...
btw, great video!

Thanks! Great video!

just a question, the kit i have now (not as good as cdj400) measures bpm quite well and shows it in tenths as well, eg. 128.4 bpm.
i noticed on this it only does whole bpm, does this mean it slightly changes the song to be exactly 128 from 128.4 . Or does it just show 128 when it is acctually 128.4, so when i mix a track that is actually 128.1 and the track which is 128.4 (both displaying 128bpm), they will be out of sync in a few second because one is slightly faster than the other?
dadams1988 2 years ago
The CDJ400 only does an approximation. It doesn't lock the tracks to the nearest 1bpm...you still need to use your brain and ears.

i have a question. i just got my new CDJ - 400 and on the outside of the jogwheel the rim is a bit loose. However i also bought another CDJ - 400 and its the same. is this a coinsidence and should i send them back or is this with every CDJ - 400
swaabinhio 2 years ago
what kind of loose? cause the wheel to fine tune ur beat matching is very loose and I feel it should be but take it back to the dealer if you are not sure if this is right...... didn't you try the CDJ before buying it? hope it works out for you

Unless you get the. i got 50 effects built into this mixer (every DJ effect is in this mixer).. it's a 2 channel. and i don't need a 4 channel. check my video out

quality man, i have a question.. is it worth getting serato with cdj's ? i can just burn songs from laptop to cd anywaay...
djtryout 2 years ago
after burning cds after cds (audio is better to handle than mp3) i've come to a point where its so hard to remember which album has the cd i want and there will be so many cd cases.. i would go with serato and a macbook today.

cdj400, its a pioneer. look at the build of the iCDX, its fully plastic, cheaply made.

Im wondering whats a better dj cd player the CDJ-400 or the Denon 3700. It would be my first cd players
bleak1021 2 years ago
depends on your set. denon is better suited for hip-hop because of its 9 inch platter.

Hi jonathan,
ive been busy mixing hardstyle now for over a month
just with a hercules midi controller and traktor 3 for mac
i wanna upgrade my setup to better gear and i saw a few complete dj sets with the cdj 200 + djm 400 or the cdj 400 +400 in a store nearby my living place from a pioneer dealer. which cdj would you suggest? i personaly thought the cdj 400 because i dont have alot of cd's most of em downloaded from mp3 sites but the cdj 400 is like 400E more expensive
Greetings
