why is now a days all about performance......its not a race car..........its a luxury "hybrid" car. Its job is to make you comfortable, get where you need to go, and most importantly save your gas.
man this guy sucks... i drove this after the crz and bmw s1 on the same road and was very happy with it. its got class style and its very fun to drive :D and its a good car in big citi.
I sold my VW Scirocco & got a CT200h. Didn't pick Audi. Didn't pick 1-series. Didn't pick C Class. Test drove a lot of cars. Now having driven my CT for a month (1400+ km). The cabin is quiet. My gas bill much cheaper. There is no looking back. Having driven a Golf Mk5 then Scirocco. VW is just not reliable. Now I understand why Prius are used as taxis in Japan ...
Reliable, comfortable, quiet, economical ... what more could you want?
The CT is a slick car and I like hatches. But Lexus pulled a Honda and put a hybrid system in a car that weighs too much and is supposed to be "sporty" (ala CR-Z). Fail IMO. They should have a regular gas engine and then an optional hybrid version but make this car more sporty not just a mild sporty. Its supposed to compete with the 1 Series and a like but doesn't come close IMO. But its selling.
@TheLMMish Are you kidding me right now? For me, it is the exact opposite. The interior looks similar to a Prius while the exterior is just plain stunning! The hatchback shape with the beautiful LED's along with the nice rims make the exterior very nice. The price, the fuel economy, and being a Lexus make me consider having this as a first car.
@SuperMeatsause I'm not kidding you. I agree the interior layout is similar to the toyota prius. It's still a Toyota-based car nonetheless. It's a matter of taste kind Sir :) I like the 2012 Lexus GS, can't wait to go for a test.
@TheLMMish I want to test drive this car and maybe it could be my first car. I'm just looking for a balance between fuel economy/performance and price/luxury. I was looking at a Honda Insight Hybrid but is a piece of shit. The BMW 1 series looks good but it is too expensive and although it is very very quick, the fuel economy sucks. The last two option are the Audi A3 and the Lexus CT200h which looks very nice in my opinion. I can't wait to test drive it.
I test drove this, it drove fine. It didn't feel slow. Most people are not racing from stoplight to stoplight - no one drives their car's full 0-60 potential. I laugh at people who think they do. Only in their imagination. Go out and drive for an hour just for fun and see how often you're flooring the gas pedal. Are you now imagining it? -- or do you actually drive around an extra 3 hours every week just for fun? ^_^ I do and I want a 42 mpg car!
@geniegogo What are you going on about. Some people do flog their cars daily and for good reason. They don't put you to sleep when you mash the peddle like the Lexus. My car loves highway on ramps, mountain roads and deserted two-laners. In fact it enjoys going to the track as well where it has seen duty at the drag strip and on a road course. I suggest you drive a car with actual performance characteristics before you comment on how other people drive.
@g1981c Are you kidding? This might not be a power machine but even my Yaris does just fine on the highway. The 0-60 is approximately the same. It might not give you whiplash when you punch it to pass or merge but it gets the job done more than comfortably.
You all are concerned with the 0-60 times? If you are that concerened with it then why would you even be considering a hybrid? Sure you can buy a mild hybrid that has a decent 60 time but your not going to be getting 42mpg either. I actually like this car, just drove one yesterday.
@08nizmo I think the 0-60 would be acceptable if it could do a little better than 42mpg.
You can buy any number of diesel cars, or even petrol cars these days that can match that overall mpg, and destroy it on performance, eg VW Golf GTD. 0-60, 8 sec, 170bhp, 48mpg....oh and it costs a hell of a lot less than this car too.
For the price they are asking I would expect it to at least get close to conventional alternatives, but its nowhere near really. Shame.
I've driven this car and it was very nice. High quality interior, smooth and quiet ride, great attention to detail, build quality and looks amazing in person. 42 MPG bests most sub compact cars, but in a very premium, well built luxury car.
@slimecrazy552 Most European compact cars will comfortably do 42 mpg or more, and destroy this car on performance, while costing a lot less to buy. So I very much doubt it will sell over here.
@soundseeker63 Yes but those are mainly economy cars. Assuming this car delivers on the luxury (which by all indications it does), a luxury car with the fuel economy of a subcompact is very appealing.
@slimecrazy552 Not really. A BMW 320d will beat it for power and economy and costs about the same.
While an Audi A3 2.0Tdi sport will also do that and cost less. Both cars are "luxury" type cars. I Really can't see who's going to buy it. It doesn't even look nice.
@soundseeker63 The diesels will drive a lot different than the hybrid, in the end it will come down to preference for most. We don't get those diesels here in NA, so I'm not sure how they drive. My perception of diesels is that they're relatively noisy, clanky and not very luxury car like, and it seems I'm right: watch?v=7pCzGKfSu7g&t=2m40s
@slimecrazy552 15 years ago they were. Sometimes they do still sound like a truck from startup but once warmed up and on the move quite often you wouldn't know the difference. In fact a lot of people choose diesel BECAUSE of its performance, not its economy. The torque output easily beating petrol equivalents, making them quicker and more flexible on the road.
If you have no diesels on the market the case for this car makes sense. But in Europe we do and I am sure this car won't shift.
@soundseeker63 They've taken 1000 pre-orders for this car in the Netherlands, which is quite a feat considering only 700 Lexus cars were sold in the country last year. They also sold 2200 of these in the US in March which compared to 230 for the HS is also quite a feat. Personally I think this car will do very well, it's a lot more refined than any diesel. The only real draw back is straight line acceleration, otherwise the drive is silent, the interior is top notch and there is lots of tech.
@soundseeker63 320D does not cost around 30 grand. You're looking at around 45 for a diesel version of the 3 series. But yes, I would much rather pay for the 3 series for its driving dynamics than this pointless piece of shit.
@dukviper90 Actually the piece of shit is the BMW and not Lexus, BMW is so unreliable especially the 320d, try to see the european forums about this car...lol...Plus the mainteinance costs are exagerrated, aniway BMW is a car for idiots so good luck with that piece of shit. Said by an ex bmw owner.
@IwantaLexusLFA I am an infiniti guy. I don't really like BMW but be honest, I know you would rather drive the 3 then the CT. Just sell it when the warranty runs out.
@cumbas OMG! How lame can you be? You're a perfect envy french, you're envy of our car brands, our story, our artistic treasure. our HERITAGE! Everything is better in Italy. French sux big time!!!!!!!
@slimecrazy552 You're right,i'm from Italy and this car is already considered the benchmark in his class by the most important italian car magazine such as "QUATTRORUOTE".
How does Toyota do it making plain vanilla. Very fine plain vanilla, but Vanilla none the less. How about that 2 door coupe platform rear driver to spice it up that was previewed a few years back. I love Vanilla, but there are much more tasty cars in this segment for less. Keep working at it Toyota, you can do it.
For what it is and 42 mpg, it's not bad. I already have a Speed3 hatchback...so not interested. Life's too short to take 10.4 to get to 60, which is too dangerous on the highway for passing or getting out of trouble situations. OK conservative design, not inspired.
Let's see, do I want a Lexus that doesn't look like a Lexus, with an ugly blue Lexus logo, drives like a Corolla, but twice the price of a Corolla? Hahaaaaahaaaaaaaaaaaa!
Let me get this straight; this car is based off the corolla and feels like a re-badged Prius but its going to sell for "below 30K" I bet that below 30K will be 30K+ OTD the door with options. Why would anyone pay that much for a corolla based re-badged Prius? Save the money; buy a Prius.
Hey insideline can you test the 2011 Hyundai Elantra? I heard that it's the best styling compact car and fully featured. If people are driving on the city streets most of the time and want a luxury hybrid, then a Lexus CT 200h is good for them. On the other hand, if people spend more time driving on the highway with the car then the 40MPG 2011 Hyundai Elantra would make sense.
.. Youve got to be kidding.. Its like a half ass lexus. Baha i mean i guess its not bad for boring people. I mean its not a HORRIBLE car.. But its not very impressive in my view. A little on the ugly side to be honest hahhh..
Just like any other Toyota product, I absolutely will pass. They couldn't pay me to drive what I consider boring, bland, uninspiring and crappy vehicles.
@slimecrazy552 based on other cars on the market. Too many times, some of the styling of Toyotas and Lexus are from other companies designs. To me, can't do anything bold or stand out. They rather be bland and under the radar for styling and basically copy others. Furthermore, I simply hate anything Toyota does, period.
@shoelover10 Modern Lexus designs, including this CT, are fairly progressive and original. You can't find the lines on this car's front end on anything else out there, and neither can you with the RX and IS. They used to aim to be the Japanese version of Mercedes, but it seems Lexus for now has adopted an image of high tech refinement over traditional luxury. Maybe 5-10 years ago I would have agreed with you, but not in 2011.
@slimecrazy552 If it works for you, so well and good. However, I'm entitled to my opinion just like everyone else who wishes to voice them. As for me, even if Lexus or Toyota gave me one of their vehicles absolutely free, I would get rid of it before you could spin around. I don't like anything they produce. As for this new hybrid they made, it's slow, which they didn't make any claim for it to be a sports car. However, it's suppose to be good handling car and it's not according to the reviewer.
By the way, Im not being converted to a honda loyilist like u because weve had 6 toyotas with no problems. Ive been in multiple hodas, the crv, fit and civic and they had huge fit and finish problems. the seats were uncomfortable and all had misfitting parts. thats hondas new 'quality policie' for u as well as well as frexin ugly ass cars!
You are obviously a 15 year old child as it states on your profile. I have no interest in trying to convert anyone to Honda's I simply point out a cars flaws, I wont deny that Honda has flaws, every automaker does. I drive new Toyota's all day long at my job and they are all built soo cheaply now. I used to drive a Toyota and both my parents do and I still like old Toyotas but not new ones.
who buys a fucking hybrid for performance reasons, you all a whole bunch 12 year old fags who dont know shit about cars! most of you probably dont have a fucking car!! If I was gonna buy a hybrid I will take this over a prius any day, but if I want a performance car Ill buy an EVO on the same price range!
@xoquixxoqafxo you banned me from your channel. Asshole. the crz is even worse without a doubt. Reed motor trends review and get educated honda loyalist!
I read every car enthusiast magazine religiously. I also have worked in the car industry since 2007 and although I wont deny that I love Honda I also can like any car if its fun to drive and built well. I removed you bc I didnt appreciate the childish comments that you posted on my videos. Maybe you should grow up a little and if you have something to say be more mature about it otherwise people will continue to block you.

Just like any other Toyota product, I absolutely will pass. They couldn't pay me to drive what I consider boring, bland, uninspiring and crappy vehicles.
shoelover10 1 year ago
@shoelover10 Consider based on what?
slimecrazy552 1 year ago
@slimecrazy552 based on other cars on the market. Too many times, some of the styling of Toyotas and Lexus are from other companies designs. To me, can't do anything bold or stand out. They rather be bland and under the radar for styling and basically copy others. Furthermore, I simply hate anything Toyota does, period.
shoelover10 1 year ago
@shoelover10 Modern Lexus designs, including this CT, are fairly progressive and original. You can't find the lines on this car's front end on anything else out there, and neither can you with the RX and IS. They used to aim to be the Japanese version of Mercedes, but it seems Lexus for now has adopted an image of high tech refinement over traditional luxury. Maybe 5-10 years ago I would have agreed with you, but not in 2011.
slimecrazy552 1 year ago

@etoyotarockshsucks

Its a Toyota Matrix in Lexus clothing with a slow ass Prius engine... No thanks. For a sportier driving Hybrid, I'll take a CRZ 6MT.

@jrc2k CT200h (SE-L Premium) costs more than £30,000 in UK. Thats too much for a hatchback. You can get a XF for £30,000.
