Plasma TV repair

I don't know if this is the same problem I have with my hdtv, but my screen has a type of "red fuzz" that borders the bottom and top of the screens and sometimes it gets really bad, then fades away but it always comes back. Super annoying, since it's suppose to be 1080p. It makes the picture grainy even though I'm using HDMI, only the very very center of the screen is unaffected.

increasing the drive voltage can result in ysus & zsus failure.

i would certainly check the psu voltage b4 any adjustments are made, voltage settings can be found on rear of plasma screen, eg va - vs. 60v/200v roughly. depending on screen size etc.

I have been called out to repair plenty of plasma tv's but twiddlers/dabblers have already had a go and caused too much damage.

If in doubt get a qualified tv tech and ask for a rough price first.

dont adjust that pot (variable resistor) all the way counter clockwise, first mark all the pots to indicate the original positions, adjust the pot slowly until the speckles (mal discharge) are reduced to a satisfactory level.

some chassis have a control pcb flash to alter the timing and reduce this but it isnt easy to do (if you get it wrong with the checksum or flash version it will destroy Y & Z sus on power up).All the pot trimming is doing is increasing the Ysus drive voltage.

i would say you voided its warentee but most of this technologie stuff is made to break from a day to a decade after the warentee goes out. they should make these warentees longer and if its broke by accident then they should fix it for free for any purchaser.

I have this problem on my samsung 50" plasma when ps3 is on, most of the visual distortion is on the backround colour on the xmb, mostly on the lime green, red, yellow etc......

I will try this and see if it helps

Yeah i had the same problem. Tried what u did and it worked. mine was in a different spot But worked just the same. That damn redish greenish haze or fog or whatever u want to call it got on my nerves. Thnx to u no more. ive been looking for a while on how to fix this little problem. This video was very very useful.

Took me 2 hours to do this. There were 4 screws. First one did little/nothing. Second did little/nothing. Third one turn the screen off once i got it 3/4 clockwise. Fouth one was the golden ticket.

However once fixing it, I unplugged the TV, put it together, then it was worse than before. So I took it apart, played with the screws, got it good again, and have the case off atm, seeing if it will stay good.
