  • All Turek has accomplished is to show that one has to strip-down and utterly reduce the theist argument to simple deism in order to make it even have a hope of standing up to rational analysis and criticism.

  • Only I who thought of Hitler as Turek ended his speech as he went from relatively calm to screaming in desperation because of the wicked pain from the big fat hitchslap he had just received?

  • This is, in my opinion, not Hitchens best work. I won't say that he prevaricated but he did meander and often his answers were so roundabout as to seem obscure or no answer at all. Turek's questions were always strawmen so perhaps it was best not to address them directly however I've seen Hitchens do an excellent job of clarifying a question, parsing it down to the core issue and answering with clarity and profundity. In this debate he seamed almost apathetic. He has done better, IMO.

  • @AtomSmashr I agree.. he seems to be doing little more than entertaining fans of oratory.

  • It's funny how religious assholes manage to be condescending towards people who know far more than them and who present it better. He should thank him for being allowed to listen to him and bath in his wit.

  • Why do the people keep clapping as if it asserts his point?

  • If we can all be moral and do all these things without god...why would he be needed? If you salvation why not just simply say all good people are rewarded in heaven for being good humans, and bad people go to hell but can be redeemed after paying their sentence and can be rehabilitated. Why not just be simple than mixing it all up with different faiths, it's far more rational and it would save more human lives.

  • God made Pandas to strip bamboo!?

    /facepalm

  • Turek, you don´t need to scream. Even because it makes you more ridiculous: it may work in your discourses at the church or among your fellow believers, but not in a racional debate

  • Stop shouting

  • All of the things he said doesn't preclude a god, it precludes an omnipotent, omniscient, and GOOD god.

  • HAHAHA! at 4:19 after everyone starts applauding for no reason, the woman in the front row wearing the polka dot dress has a bewildered look and gives the international sign for "what the fuck!?"

  • Why is Turok getting clapped?

    Fools.

  • Turek is a foolish oaf.

  • yeahh hitch put less than no effort into that debate

  • Did Turek say Hitch put effort in? Haha

  • Ultimate Stupidity indeed!!!

  • omg, i hate religion and like when religious people get pawned but this was almost painful to watch and i almost feel a bit sorry for that turek guy. Hitchens is just brutal and destroyes everything that they try to throw at him.

  • Oh, and Frank Turek is BROAD minded. Horseshit.

  • turek looks really worn out and tired to me when he gets up to the podium there to close.

  • Why do all religious people, no matter how smart they are, seem to think that if they talk louder they will come off as right?

  • @Zofar "Why do all religious people, no matter how smart they are, seem to think that if they talk louder they will come off as right?"

Why do some people, no matter how many arguments they hear from religious people like Turek, seem to think that if some religious person happens to talk loud due to his personality traits it means the personality traits is what counts over what the person in question actually says on behalf of his religious belief?

In order words, did you listen to Turek?

  • @MoonwalkerWorshiper Yes Moon walker, no one listened to the debate besides you. We are wrong about our opinions of how this debate concluded. You are right. Praise the Moon walker.

  • @MrBrational [We are wrong about our opinions of how this debate concluded]

See, you don't care for how the debate concluded. If Hitchens is present, you will per automatic say he won. After all, he is an atheist and he has got a british accent. And as he sits back and shits out a bunch of words that sounds impressive then he is automatically "slapping" his opponent. Whether Hitchens is actually addressing the arguments from his opponent or not, is irrelevant of course.

  • @MoonwalkerWorshiper Shut the fuck up you wild kook.

  • @AylaPersephone What's a "kook"?

  • @MoonwalkerWorshiper You're a kook. Shut the fuck up.

  • @AylaPersephone What IS a "kook"?

  • @MoonwalkerWorshiper a kook is a person who unshakably holds a belief that most of his or her contemporaries consider to be false. This comment is not meant as a insult I only mean to answer your question :)

  • "Maybe that was all a panda was supposed to do". He doesn't understand evolution. I'd suggest he read up and spending time trying to really understand it.

"God could exist, even if all of Christopher's assertions and complaints are true". True, but that's not Hitchen's point. Turek still doesn't provide any arguments to support the theist's burden of proof in conjecturing an all-powerful, all-knowing "God". Turek merely shows that he hasn't been listening. Not an impressive way to "wrap" up.

  • You're the MAN Hitchens - dare I say, sometimes god-like!

  • 2:20 All those with minds clap.

  • I like Christopher Hitchens, and I agree with him, but he didn't do very well in this debate. He seems to be too smart for his own good. If he would just answer the questions, he'd come off a lot better. There's no way anyone left this debate even remotely questioning their beliefs.

  • I'M LOUD! Therefore I AM RIGHT!

  • 2:45

Wow, Turek is actually speaking civilly and with his indoor voice. Is it because he's genuinely tired, trying to set a somber tone, or has he finally realized that constantly yelling like a 5 year old is fucking annoying. Watch his second debate with Hitchens and find out.

  • Wow, I take that back...you need only keep listening to the rest of his closing statement.

  • @MakeshiftEstablished "2:45

Wow, Turek is actually speaking civilly and with his indoor voice. Is it because he's genuinely tired, trying to set a somber tone, or has he finally realized that constantly yelling like a 5 year old is fucking annoying."

Neither of it. At that point, Turek just began his speech and that's why the voice is calmer. As he continues to speak he gets passionated about what he speaks of and his volume increases. It is like that for some human beings. Don't shoot him.

  • @MoonwalkerWorshiper Here's Moon walker defending the moron again

  • love how christopher is just so at ease sitting back kicking the shit out of turek. then when turek takes his turn he has to stand up to feel important or something.

  • Hitch won easy

  • turek "he says god isnt real and he hates him"

wtf, dont be stupid, you know hes talking about who the bible says god to be, not that he is real.

  • If you bought a car from someone who claimed that he was all-knowing and all-powerful, what would you expect if this claim was true?

You would expect a car that worked perfectly, that didn't degrade, etc. If that was the case, you would think there was something to the claim.

But if it didn't work perfectly, if, in fact, it worked poorly and made no sense, you would doubt the claim.

Why doesn't this work for religion?

    God works in mysterious ways?

  • @jessc1979 I like you're thinking, but, you're making the huge assumption that your all-powerful, all-knowing "someone" was a good "someone"! That said, I actually quite like your analogy, so much so, I might even use it for myself!!! Well Played!

  • @jessc1979 this is a solid argument against the intelligent design of our own bodies. intro evolution.

  • turek at 2:54, i do believe that was a backhanded compliment if my observation of him is correct, that is hitches being slightly drunk. lol. maybe he's a bit p'd that he lost to a slightly drunk man.

  • Stupidity comes out of Turek's mouth most hilariously/suicidally after 5:14. Haha the crowd makes this so amusing.

  • Turek only focuses on design and the creation myth. Doesn't go near answering prayers, forgiving sins, favouring sports teams or sides in a war etc. Because even his skewed pseudo science can't even pretend to offer any evidence of them.

  • Turek says: " ...there are many beliefs which are false." How does he know? Are not beliefs just that - a sentiment towards a concept - and unprovable at that? Beliefs differ from scientific fact. People hold religious beliefs despite the evidence of science.

  • hear hear, hitch
