Asia has a LONG LONG way to go before they can pull the influence that the US has in the world economy. US debt is an issue, however there are other factors that limit Asian success and will keep the US on top of the market for years to come, such as innovation, oppressive governments on China's part, cultural limitations and so forth. Asia will become more influential, but the US will still lead the way.

Inflation?? I dont care. I live a very frugal and modest lifestyle anyways. I eat out at resturants a few times a year. Sure I grab a few slices or a big mac here and there. I do not drink alcohol and my mom cooks pretty well and we dont buy exepnsive foods and soda and stuff. We don't eat lobster or crab or fillet mignon. I could care less about those who lived a hedonistic lifestyles and need to eat out, go to movies, buy v. games, drives lexus+bmw. I just care about my family and 2 nephews.
A lot of us have the same problem with relatives and friends not responding. I think it is because the future is too bleak and they don't want to deal with it. I try to tell them the future isn't so bleak if you prepare and preparing is a defense against being depressed over the bleak future. I also advise them of the ten virgins in Matthew 25:1-13 where the ones who prepare do not have an obligation to give to those who did not prepare.

I'm 26 and when I started learning all this (when I was about 21) it nearly sent me over the edge. Life is too short to be so worried about it. Actually, between $7 and $8 a gallon of gas (or about $180 per barrel of oil), it becomes cost effective to extract oil from oil sand and oil shale. Our problem is, at that range, many of the social effects George lists will start to kick in in earnest and we don't already have the infrastructure in place for processing and transport like the Canadians up in Alberta, nor the money to build our own infrastructure (no disrespect to Wyoming).
You know we're rich in oil here in the U.S. The powers that be won't let it happen. Alaska ships oil off to Japan because we don't have the technology to refine that very "crude" oil? Pardon? First rate country? It's all power play. We don't drill for oil because we'd be a unilateral power all over again. The new world government can't have that now, can it? :)
China has already made deals with the Athabasca tar sand mining region for the vast majority of their tar sand oil. We were asleep at the switch when they swooped in and bought it out just like they did Noranda. It won't be long before the oil crisis really starts to squeeze as less gets exported to the US and also the dollar falls further. This is going to get ugly.

US debt is an issue, however there are other factors that limit Asian success and will keep the US on top of the market for years to come, such as innovation, oppressive governments on China's part, cultural limitations and so forth. Asia will become more influential, but the US will still lead the way.

Inflation?? I dont care. I live a very frugal and modest lifestyle anyways. I eat out at resturants a few times a year. Sure I grab a few slices or a big mac here and there. I do not drink alcohol and my mom cooks pretty well and we dont buy exepnsive foods and soda and stuff. We don't eat lobster or crab or fillet mignon. A lot of us have the same problem with relatives and friends not responding. I think it is because the future is too bleak and they don't want to deal with it. I try to tell them the future isn't so bleak if you prepare and preparing is a defense against being depressed over the bleak future. I also advise them of the ten virgins in Matthew 25:1-13 where the ones who prepare do not have an obligation to give to those who did not prepare.

Just chill out man. Anybody that has started to wake up goes through what you are going though to a varying degree. I'm 26 and when I started learning all this (when I was about 21) it nearly sent me over the edge. Life is too short to be so worried about it. Actually, between $7 and $8 a gallon of gas (or about $180 per barrel of oil), it becomes cost effective to extract oil from oil sand and oil shale. Our problem is, at that range, many of the social effects George lists will start to kick in in earnest and we don't already have the infrastructure in place for processing and transport like the Canadians up in Alberta, nor the money to build our own infrastructure (no disrespect to Wyoming).

China has already made deals with the Athabasca tar sand mining region for the vast majority of their tar sand oil. We were asleep at the switch when they swooped in and bought it out just like they did Noranda. It won't be long before the oil crisis really starts to squeeze as less gets exported to the US and also the dollar falls further. This is going to get ugly.

Shale oil is a joke. If they attempt to mine it, it'll be a multi-state environmental disaster. Plus it's just an oil precursor, there's not real energy contained in it.
