  • forget your edward van halens and your steve vais, these jazzers are a million times more acomplished, long live jazz

  • @razzamanaz79

Forget your Jazzers, Classical Musicians is even more accomplished..

See that your argumentation is nonsense, Music isn't only about skill.

  • @MeinKomponist well a valid opinion and I would side with you also, but I eventually heard that Segovia was utterly impressed with Django Reinhardts improvisation No1 so there is some impressive stuff going in jazz, even to an accomplished classical guitarist. Classical needs far more training than almost any other profession however. I wouldnt really forget my jazzers, though, it must be easier to teach youself...

  • What model is that dark-colored Gibson at 1:55?

  • This man is my hero

  • Mr Conti I love you and your music so much thank you for the lesson love you heaps.

  • guys like this are 1 in a million ^ most people AREN'T able to play like this without learning about chords/scales.

  • @maxpowd3r

Yes, Robert is an excellent player. However, yes, others certainly can learn to play like Robert. Visit his website, see not hundreds, but thousands of student commentaries. Then watch and listen to the videos in the student gallery. In fact, enjoy numerous complimentary full length video lessons during your visit.

    Ben, Web Admin

  • ... Seriuosly, whow does like this? God this sounds awesome. I HAVE to start learning the jazz scale NOW!

  • Man, wouldn't it be something if it was that simple?

There is certainly no such thing as the "jazz scale".

  • There ya go again! Playing just like floating across the fret board. Your hand looks like a huge tarantula. I love the way you play.. could listen all day.. Reminds me I have to go listen to Mr. Twister's Fan Fare again!!! lol

  • Piasans, Never get the Credit they deserve, Folks don't even know, The D'Angelico, Was made on Mulberry St, NYC, With the Late D'Aquisto, Who I knew.

    I reside by little italy.

You remind me a bit of my teacher "The Late Sal Salvador" The guy that opened the door for me.

  • @roge69charger

Trivia For You: Did you know that Sal Salvador and Robert Conti were born on the same day and I believe the same year!

    Ben, Web Admin

  • @robertconticom Not the same yr, But , Maybe the same day. I recall when I spoke to his daughter over ten yrs ago, He went on Vacation and he passed away. I was very upset, I wanted to Study with Sal, Back in 1965, When my instructor, Mr Leon Atkinson, Said he wasn't any good! That's BS! He was Jealous! I always regretted not starting my studies with Sal, But, he really reminds me of Robert Conti alot, Not only was I a Student, But, We were good Friends too.

  • @roge69charger Some of the greatest jazz guitarist in history were WOPs, including über-greats Eddie Lang (real name: Salvatore Massaro) and Joe Pass (real name: Joseph Anthony Jacobi Passalacqua.)

  • @Hoopermazing Not to mention Pat Martino.

  • @roge69charger Interesting - I imagine that is why Larry Carlton wrote the piece Mulberry Street... perhaps.... anyone know?

  • Rob conti sounds like he'll sweep pick perfectly through a clean tone and then make you a boss ass hoagie

  • the only dvd's my guitar teacher has EVER told me to actually buy. does anyone know if stores sell them or are they just sold online?

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!! :-)

  • I already started with his source code, And I'm quite knowledgeable with theory, But, He Gets rid of all the jargon. Can't wait to order some more of his Courses.

I want them all. He's Great! No matter what style you play.

  • his left hand is flying on fretboard... :)

  • A wealth of information from a person who wants to share what he loves with anyone who wants it. His experience is vast, is not smoke and mirrors. It's how he see what he is doing. Instructors can learn a lot about how to present information to a vast audience. Super salesman with a product worth having.

  • does anyone know the scales that he plays in?

  • @njdkidd1231 He plays in all the scales.

  • yes, it is called chromatic scale, because it has all the colors: D

  • Met Robert Conti playing a solo gig in the mid-eighties. He was phenomenal. A true master of his craft. And he is a gentleman as well. A unique musician and teacher.

  • yeah! i'm buying his stuff! i wanna solo like that too :)

  • "The White B.B. King of Jazz" Any takers?

  • "may i have a d-7 steve?"

  • Robert Conti has more musical taste, talent and class in just one of those fingers than the idiot making fun of them. I have several of Robert's books and DVD's. Best Jazz teaching material in the world! You get your moneys worth and then some. He takes his time and teaches the material in simple terms. I'll own everything he sells, including one of his new Equity Guitars, in time. Keep kickin' ass and takin' names Robert! You are the coolest dude on the planet!

  • Fudge me! i used to think Kirk Hammett was everything until i wattched this video your f'kin amazing!

  • kirk hammett is not very good. you need to expand your horizons. good thing there's youtube! paul gilbert, buckethead, shawn lane, jason becker, george lynch, van halen, etc.

  • This guy is amazing! I'm getting his vids. Thanks, Mr. Conti.

  • Ham hands!

  • This man is a virtuoso/genious, in another league from the rest of us wanna be musicians.

  • I am amazed how many comments have nothing to do with the music. Hmm

  • like yours?

  • whoever made fun of his fingers is a douche ive got very thick fingers adn i play jazz blues which in my opinion probalbly the most difficult style you can learn it takes a raw emotion and expert knowledge of music theory so dont trash his fingers this man is extremely talented and very clean im really impressed with how clean it is.

  • I agree with you...the guy is incredible.

These morons can't see the genius.

  • seriously who made fun of this guys fingers , im in love with his fingers baby!

  • not in a million years ... it is not only about learning... the guy is a genius.

  • nice brooklyn accent or something

  • I never want to hear another aspiring guitarist bemoaning his fat fingers again.

  • Wow! Just when I thought I was getting good... Freakn' awesome.

  • forget it .. this guy is a pure genius and u will never play like himm!! even if u had ten life times!! i play so plz believe me!!

  • fiery personality here. Great!

  • I think he fried my computer with his awesomeness. He uses some hard guitar technique, is that sweep picking i see. awesome

  • master !

  • amazing jazz playing great job

  • Fantastic technique and feel. Beautiful! Wonderful taste

  • this guy is the best at what he dose its a known fact that to play jazz guitar u need to have a real grasp og music theory this guy foregts theory and just plays staight through feeling

  • Nice

  • great Robert Conti, all the Conti are great!...:) the best italian family!

  • amazing jazz playing

    peace

    connor

  • great, man :-) listen to my acustickakka :-)

  • 8:14 nice!

  • what a brilliant guitarist

  • The licks are so easy to detect on the tab sheet. You instanly learn pro level lines and runs. You can even just learn the licks based over the chords. This enables you to use the licks in different sitiuations to different songs. The chords are even listed to the song so you will no what chords they go with. So quite frankly you are learing to play the solo as well as the song all in one lesson.

  • good improvision I never seen a player at the top level break down songs and licks like this. Joe Pass, and other greats never broke things down this simple

  • very very cool

  • Robert Conti is great. You will never find a teacher like this.

I just finished the chord melody source code DVD. It made a huge impact on me. I just ordered the formula DVD and I will eventually get all of them.

  • He enjoy's it so much, that's the most important thing in music, just have fun but also work hard.

  • fantastic !!! Robert is Robert

  • i want to play jazz, but it'll be impossible to play like this...

    so awesome!!!

  • wrong. you will be, if you put effort and believe in yourself. all he does is explanable, except specific feeling, which is personal to everyone. but yes, this is just great!

  • que gordit hijo de su buena madre , me mando al suelo 10 años de estudio fuiuu, eso es un extasis musical casi imposible , pero bueno hay que darle

  • 0:21 is the best bit

  • I'm gonna learn to play like this... wonder how many lifetimes it'll take... I've just got Danny Gatton's Telemaster DVD too... why am I punishing myself like this!?!?

  • if you begin now,...first step is most important

  • Absolute fantastic Guitarist, man this guy is out of this world, unluckly i live in Germany where the music scene is in the 1898 ära,if only he can tour Germany and show these guys theres Music in the world,

  • Hmm, thought I already left a comment? Anyway, I just got his Blues 1 & Satin Doll DVD . They are just great! We're not talking theory or modes here. We are talking chops. Easily transferrable from one chord progression to another. I have been missing Joe P for years. Now I have a new fave!

  • where do you got the dvd?

  • Man, just got his Blues 1 & Satin Doll DVD. It is great. This is not about theory or modes. It is about chops. Easily convertible from one chord set to another. He my new #1 since Joe P.

  • Where's my doughnuts!

  • Wow, never thought a Jazzica and a Delta Blues would sound so good together!

  • this guy is amazing...

  • probably the most Underrated jazz guitarist ever. He is just fantastic .

  • good job

  • improvisation .....de best

  • dude i could never play like tht...only watch

  • Robert Conti may well be the best Jazz guitarist since Wes Montgomery and Pat Martino came along. .Unbelievable to say the least.

  • Great chops.. Love the Blues influence too!

  • great great great great great ...

  • great technic - greetings from cologne :-)

  • thanks

  • As these are instructional DVDs focused on teaching jazz lines, the emphasis is on playing the guitar. Please visit Mr. Conti's channel here on YouTube for videos featuring live bands.

  • I was quite mesmerised by this video Robert, thanks for posting. I think you have great tone and the kind of lines and facility that - to my ears - knock the socks off a lot world famous cats. I think I could learn a great deal from watching your DVDs, it's just awesome stuff.

  • EXCELLENT!!! thanks for the invitation!

check my guitar posted videos f you have time

    Peace!

  • who is this magician ?

bring him to my world now !

  • good stuff

  • YES SHAWN LANE and frank gamballe and aldi meola and lucia they are insane

  • Damn it! I'm buying this DVD!

  • Mr. Conti - I believe I saw you perform in RI in the mid-eighties, at The Gatehouse. Beautiful solo jazz guitar. I watched you, entranced with your fluid and brilliant jazz stylings.

But I forgot your name, and for years you remained a "mystery guitarist". Finally, I spotted you on the 'Net, thrilled to hear more of your genius. I, too, play jazz, classical, and country. But, I am in awe of your playing. Magnificent.

  • thats a thick electric guitar

  • idiot, thats a semi-hollow body guitar! which is 1/2 electric, 1/2 hollow/acoustic

  • your an idiot and obviously not a guitarist. If you were you would know that this is in fact not a semi-hollow body guitar, but a full fledged hollow-body guitar. A semi-hollow body guitar is significantly thinner. A good example is the Gibson es-335

So you shouldn't try to correct people on a subject you obviously know very little about, you hypocrite

  • its actually a full hollow body guitar, a semi hollow like a gibson 335 has a sustain block surrounding the pickups to cut back on feed back, that big jazz box hes playing has no such thing, it gives it that real jazz tone.

  • who is this? he's very good

  • This is Robert Conti

  • Great stuff. Thanks for helping us step our game up. I love playing jazz guitar. Mostly smooth jazz. You have a awesome feel bro. I have an Ibanez with one pickup in the neck. It's my baby. I play through a poly tone 15" mini brute. What is your favorite amp? Drew.

  • hey man i play groove/thrash/death metal and you just inspire to play thank you. add some bends, minors, and distortion when you playing and your got yourself some metal haha. thanks man i really enjoy your playing and style. something in the way you play it. thanks alot for posting these videos up and for teaching us your teqniques(im a crappy speller).

  • i love it....

i told my brother about you..

he wachtes it almostt every day!!

    nice work!

  • Thanks for the kind comment, we do appreciate it.

  • Uaoo !! Robert conti !! great great guitarist !! you very great jazz guitarist !!! thanks !!!!

  • oh so these are just samples of improv solos? so it's 15 DVDs of ideas basically?

  • This video is just a compilation of samples from the 15 DVDs. Learning the solos is a very effective way to jump start your mind into developing your own ideas for lines. Thanks for the comment!

  • he's a really good player - but is the DVD just talking notes? is it just teaching you solos? what does it teach you about jazz guitar? it seems like he's just showing the notes

  • These particular DVDs are entirely focused on learning great jazz lines which is one aspect of jazz guitar. If your interest is in chord melody, Mr. Conti also have an extensive line of effective learning products focused on that area of jazz guitar.

  • yeah I made a second "OH RIGHT" post but it seems it isn't here...so I take it the video is designed to show people a lot of different soloing techniques and give ideas to the player..alright

  • lol, makes me wana give up anyway...

  • Don't give up!

  • This is really great tutorial, Conti. Thanx so much for putting this up. I am from east asia, how can i get those DVD? Thanx

  • Hi, Mr. Conti's DVDs may be ordered directly from the main website RobertConti dot com (Youtube will not allow me to post a URL)

  • I give up - he's brilliant!

  • MONSTER !

  • weel, if im not wrong, blues is tonal and jazz is modal

    two different ways to play

jazz is more open to improvisation and tempo changes

  • Jazz doesnt have to be modal, but there are som examples, for example Miles "So What"...Dont forget jazzblues, similar to ordinary blues but with II/V/I progressions within it. For me, blues isnt less open to improvisation than jazz?

  • can someone help me?? mabe its stupit but, is'nt this blues???

what is the difrent between blues and jazz???

  • bravoo man im definately buying your dvd...do they sell it on guitar center miami?

  • Hi, thanks for your comment! At this time, the DVDs are not available at Guitar Center, however, we do ship worldwide from Las Vegas, NV.

  • What kind of amps & Gear you use to get that great sound?

  • For the DVD productions in a studio, he generally plugs the guitar into a small pre-amp (Blue Tube by PreSonus) and then directly to the mixer console. He also uses the Blue Tube with a Jazz Kat amp to get that really nice sound. Thanks for your interest!

    Mike, Production Manager

  • i want it!!!

  • blzau!!!

  • im wondering, how can he teach you note for note an improvised solo? i wouldnt be able to remember everything i played when i improvise. maybe some ideas and licks but not note for note.

  • He also can't remember the solo. So, to teach the solo, each DVD requires 3 cameras. After playing the solo, he watches play-backs of 1 -2 measure sections to see exactly what he played. Then, he duplicates each line of the solo in small segments for the viewer. It is a time consuming and very expensive video shoot. However, as you can see, it is very beneficial to the student viewer who is seeking this level of learning. Thanks for your interest! Mike, Production Manager

  • Really beautiful playing, Mr. Conti.

  • It's the end. My guitar goes on Ebay tomorrow...

  • this guy is good!

  • thats madd i want one bad!!!

  • Hey Man this is Will. Of Hurry Up And Play, and I'm very, very impressed with your knowledge. I love the Jazz improve through chord progressions. I feel like a person doesn't really know how to play until he can do what you're doing. I/m and bass player, but I play guitar as well, and I plan on getting one of your DVDs

  • Hi Will, Many thanks for your interest and kind compliments!

    Mike, Production Manager

  • Wow, YouTube really killed the quality of the video- The actual DVDs are crystal clear. Enjoy!
