  • The butter gun example is from a vintage physics video. Anyone know where I can find the original?

  • Tedious. Why not simply compare images captured x and 2x units from the camera and show by photoshopping that the smaller image fits 4 times into the larger one? Why not go even further and question the search for a Grand Unified Theory? That is, if the similarity between gravitational and other force laws is merely geometrical, why look for anything deeper?

  • Thanks Ringo! You were a crap drummer but by God you know your physics!

  • Very Useful for my A level class, can we borrow your gun?

  • wow, kinda fail/ win for toast. ok I guess.

  • enormously genius example

  • What did you do wrong?... you could try using a butter knife instead of a butter gun.

  • that would be lame!

  • patronizing sob

  • This is great, an easy-to-remember illustration of the law. Thanks!

  • cool gun!...

  • Thanks

  • Thanks for that.

  • That was brilliant. If only someone could give me an explanation for electricity that would clarify it as well as this did for inverse squares, I'd be much more knowledgable.

  • @RichardRoy2 simple, you have 2 coils. One coil has an AC power source and the other has a load. If you double the distance between the coils then the magnetic field has grown 4 times the size and is 1/4 as strong. Also note that doubling or halving the voltage across a resistive load will have 4 times the difference in wattage because watts = volts x amps. I used to over-voltage the motors on my combat robots for competitions to get silly power at a cost of brief motor life (practical example).

  • very helpful
