@Pandmonium2k7 yes I did get them but it doesn't specify what kind of oil and whether or not to use soapy water the first time! Do u remember what kind of oil u used? And I notice u used Pam at the end of this video. Once it's cool do u cover and leave it til next time or do u do anything else? Finally, when u use the grill next time do u just heat and place food on the grill or do u need to clean, season then use? Sorry for all the ?'s but you're the only person on here with good videos.
Never use soap on it, just a wet rag or towel. I use vegetable oil now on it after cleaning applied while still warm with a paper towel then cover with my blackstone cover and thats it. When I use each time I just wipe off and heat up and cook as you would in a pan if you need oil for it to not stick do so. its like cast iron kinda you have to keep it seasoned to keep it nonstick.
Pandmonium2k7 when u first put the grill together before using it for the first time, how did u clean and prepare it for the first time use? I just got mine yesterday after watching your other videos and it's not dirty but I want to know how to prep it so I can use it.
I've been cooking with cast iron for 20+ years with the scouts. You can use soap on cast iron, but you just have to follow it with drying and with oil. Mostly, tho, it's not necessary to use soap. Just clean with water on a warm grill.
No good info on Wolfs website for cleaning. It does show how to season the griddle which I've done. But after making bacon & eggs, I scraped the grill clean but it's not really clean looking: all streaked black from food. Not sure if this is all part of the seasoning process. wondering how restaurants clean theirs so beautifully daily. I'm afraid to cook on it because it's such a hassle to clean up!
Well mine is not stainless steel and it gets discolored from use and im ok with that, im sure stainless is gonna get darker as its used too. You can search for a griddle brick or a stone its called, never used one but have seen them. Good luck
They use water and a wet rag at the Japanese restaurants so why not? You dont want to use soap though, theres no info on Wolfs website about cleaning yours?
I just sold it actually, I have a Weber Genisis 310 and the griddle would not get hot enough unless you kept the lid closed and you cant cook with the lid down. Other than that it was a good griddle, I wonder if it does better on a charbroil grill? Seems like they always run real hot.
@pandmonium2k7 I've heard that from a few Weber owners. Never anyone else. Our recomended cure has been pull the griddle all the way to the front of the grids to allow venting to go up the back side of the griddle and it has worked each time to my knowledge. Sorry for the inconvenience. John
I recently bought one of these 28" griddles for patio and camping and LOVE it! One thing like to ask about... there seems to be a dip in center of my griddle that I was surprised to find, as thick as the steel is. You don't have that on yours? Doesn't look like it. Also, did you buy a cover and if so, where? I agree...the drip pan is too small, as is the little hole on run-off. Will work on making a larger drip catcher.
@Roxanne71107 There is not a dip in mine, did it come that way or did it appear? I do know its not good to have the griddle on high with nothing on it,for a long time, it will probably warp if you do that.
You can get a cover from Amazon or their website, I have one and its built nicely.
Just bought the same griddle, getting it ready to take camping 4th of July weekend. Just want to let people know that are looking to get a great set of commercial stainless steel spatulas and griddle scraper, that after days of internet searching I have found that samsclub.com has the best price and superior quality. I paid like $15.xx for 4 utensils and that is including shipping!! Ebay was wanting that for 1 spatula. Check out Samsclub.com, you have to order them, they dont stock the stores.
Thanks for posting! I just got one of these grills and cooked a crapload of pancakes, sausages, and hash browns on it. It worked great, but now it's smelling up my garage. Wiping it down a little afterward didn't do the trick. Time to try your method. Might watch it again, just not with the kids in the room :)
Its best to do it while its still hot but usually that isnt gonna happen when the food is ready, but just reheat it up nice and hot and just use water and if you have hand towels they work for wiping up the excess.
You crack me up. Your other Blackstone grill videos helped convince me to get the griddle (you were having way too much fun)...so thank you for that. It is fun, isn't it? I also got the grill but haven't used it yet. I've used the griddle camping and w/ neighbors in the yard. The only thing I don't understand is why people should use vegetable oil on griddles before storing away (after cleaned). Vegetable oil turns rancid so why is that okay? Is it cause the first high heat will kill it?
You will have a blast with it!! Thats the main reason I wanted to make some videos of it because before I bought mine i searched and found only one video of it and i like seeing videos now of things I am interested in, like a welder i bought after seeing it used in a video. My griddle came just in time for my week long camping trip I went on and it made it way better!! As far as the oil I think if you use it once a week it doesnt need oiling and yes the heat should kill the nasties.

I thought you never use water on a steel griddle! I'm still unable to clean my rolled steel griddle (Wolf range). Any good advice?

That might be the trick, you would think as expensive as the Webers are it would work good. Its not the Sizzle Q's fault, thanks for the info.

is gas griddle better than electric?

I think gas is better because you can take it anywhere and use it. like camping and gas is better to cook with in my opinion.
