We need a return to great adventure sci-fi in films, like star trek, a return to some real space action. And with music just like this all along the way, less epic, racy, choir, chanting music.
I love "first contact"! ^^ I watched it so often that I can speak parts of it by heart ^^ And I think it has the best soundtrack of all Star Trek movies :)
This theme really takes me back. From :40 on it sounds so much like the jupiter piece by i think gustov holst the plant suite not exactly like it, but very similar.. Both this theme and that theme are very moving
This opening theme by Jerry Goldsmith is absolutley fantastic, it is as good as the Wrath of Khan or Motion Picture opening. This and the Voyager opening theme moves me to tears everytime I hear it. I am about to cry as I am writing this. Goldsmith, in the context of Star Trek, has the ability to thrill, frighten, and move the audience with what he does in his scores for the Star Trek shows and films.
April 5, 2063 - First Contact to take place in Bozeman, Montana; I will be 74 years old then. If it doesn't happen, I'll blame the Borg. We're counting on you, Picard!
this is actually my fav movie (maybe nemesis) the new star trek movie wasn't really a bad movie or anything but there were huge mistakes in it. things like a single super nova wouldn't threaten a galaxy, black holes don't make you travel through time, the romulans run their ships on artificial black holes so why would they have to wait on spock to go get some red stuff to make one. things like that
romulas was destroyed by it but when spock was telling the story to kirk, spock said that the nova threatened the galaxy. besides as i said earlier romulans run there ships on black holes, the reason spock gave on why romulus was destroyed was that he was too late, the romulans could have just rammed a few ships in there and the problem would be solved
I saw a rather interesting video on youtube that was called "The Best and Worst of American History" set to this song. I'm considering making a similar video to it, the first part of nice music can be all the wonderful things that happened in the 20th century, the second, ominous part, can show all the ugly things.
Sorry for being slow, but please don't tell me that Jerry Goldsmith is no onger with us. His music has kept me going for many a long journey through europe in the lorry.
If this is the truth, RIP Jerry and THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I do not know about anyone else, but when I listen to this theme tune I feel as if nothing in life is impossible to achieve. I feel as if I could go as one man, and change the world.
Speaking as someone who plays this on piano, I find that it is more of a triumphant song than an inspiring one. It is inspiring, but it seems to celebrate a victory more than anything else.
It is impossible not to love a song where the instruments are practically screaming to be heard, like at the part starting at 1:33
Check out the video entitled Awesome Electric Violin - Ed Busking Chester as well. I promise that it will not disappoint. I bought all of the performer's CDs after hearing it.

The only possibility of even getting any technology near the ST series, in the same period of time as theirs, would be a world war. Look how far technology advanced during ww2.
Such a beautiful theme filled with hope. Now with scientists saying hyperdrive is possible....I hope we make it to the stars and meet Vulcans and others like them.
An end to war, poverty, famine, crime, disease....the idea could bring tears of joy to one's eye.
They should have used this for Enterprise, it very much echoes the idea of a noble pioneer on an early expedition.... and you can just see all the spaceship flyby shots fitting in nicely.
Most of the time I skip the intro to a movie because it just bores me. With this movie, I did not. The song just instantly made me think of how good can and will, always, triumph over evil.
I love this theme, it's so beautiful and it carried on through the years of growing up as one of the most memorable pieces of music. The movie is the best Star Trek movie in my opinion and at the age of 9yrs old, was the movie to introduce me to the Star Trek franchise....never had heard of it before that.
Interesting fact for all you fans of dear Jerry Goldsmith: He composed from 0:00 to 3:20 and his son actually composed the rest, the more chaotic part of the song.

I know everyone loves the first part but I really like the borg stuff afterwards in this too, you don't think that such noises come from instruments, deep grinding mechanical noises...
lol thanks I really thought Nemesis was a good movie any my favorite of the next Generation saga i think it got bad reveiws because star trek wasent as popular during that time I've pretty much seen all the shows except for DS9 because its never on TV.
You need to watch DS9. I grew up with TNG but DS9 is hands down the most bold show. I love anything Star Trek but do yourself a favour and watch DS9 :)
Well if the ever bring it back on TV i may start watching it again though my favorite crew is TNG my show that i've seen is Voyager but mostly i divide the movies and shows into old star trek and new star Trek, with old star trek series is probobly the worst of all the star trek saga but its still funny, The old movies are really good though and my favorite is the undiscoverd country. with new star trek my favorite show is Voyager, and my favorite movie is Nemisis.
DS9 was my favourite of the Treks as I like the continuous plot and the fact that the characters had chance to develop properly. That being said, my favourite crew was of the TNG.
For some reason I love to watch the first part of this movie, up to the point where the Borg sphere is destroyed.

I know everyone loves the first part but I really like the borg stuff afterwards in this too, you don't think that such noises come from instruments, deep grinding mechanical noises...

Finally someone who likes Nemesis! Good on us. :)
andyib632 3 years ago 4
lol thanks I really thought Nemesis was a good movie any my favorite of the next Generation saga i think it got bad reveiws because star trek wasent as popular during that time I've pretty much seen all the shows except for DS9 because its never on TV.

You need to watch DS9. I grew up with TNG but DS9 is hands down the most bold show. I love anything Star Trek but do yourself a favour and watch DS9 :)
oh and almost any Goldsmith track is superb!
