But you say, "Not at all! I only wish that my kids do not become bums, accustomed to a life of barbarism and endless selfish pleasure with no reward and no work!"
Yet we all wish to win the lottery, to live it up without little effort. You hate for other people to do this, but you secretly long for it.
If you are a truth seeker, search "Truth Contest" in Google and click on the 1st result, then open The Present and read what it says. Everyone needs to see this. The Present will turn this world right-side up if it reaches enough people. You will see what I mean when you read the first page.
@THESuperiormentality Lol you use the word genius to insult me. Yet you fail to understand a basic piece of literature. For starters have you read any of his other work? DO you know anything about the author?. How about instead of googleing or ask strangers for a quick answer you find out for yourself. Literature is supposed to be objective, people have different views of different art. Jesus you want me to explain Picasso too you to. Wanker.
@goodvibesallround i see you are the type that sees genius in the campbells soup photographs Andrew Warhol did and shit like this. which let me tell you actually does damage to real artists who are starving and actually made something astonishingly wonderful half the art world is full of those types who see a squiggly line and say OHHHH MY GOD A MASTER PIECE..this is exactly what im against not just in poetry not just in art but in music as well & i did c his other work, this is why i ask,
@THESuperiormentality Oh fuck you, you pretentious fuck. Just because something is simple doesn't mean it can't be powerful....not all art has to be complicated or on a massive scale to be good. And btw i'm not a huge fan of warhol but i like do like most contemporary artists. So get off your high horse....and learn to live with people liking different forms of art.
@goodvibesallround i bet you are probably a fan of the Splatters too, the people who drop shitloads of mixed color paint in together and call it art people who walk by and say (he is manifesting his anger in that painting) btw im not being a prick i just wanted to know what the guy meant
@THESuperiormentality If you can barley understand simple literature like this how can you understand complex art? I bet your one of those people who walks around with an undeserved sense of accomplishment...thinking your superior to everybody else. But in reality your just a sad little man, who will never influence people with art. Bottom line is I don't like a lot of different art....but i don't begrudge somebody for liking it. So get over yourself....
@tincan77 to call it indulgent or to compare it would be missing the point. Bukowski is a giant mine of information done through a unique way of writing. Trying to get a solid point, or answer out of this piece, or most of his writings, or art in general will block the absorption of it. I think it's genius. Call me artsy I guess...
They did infact destroy the man. They did do it. But they never got thier hands dirty by actually physically doing it. Thier poison was SOCIAL! The kids we imagine were just kids and only kids would think such wild things. BUT THE KIDS WERE RIGHT, AT HEART. The point. Our children see and they are watching us as well as our world. The purity of youth and thier honest little hearts. Thank you.
I find it interesting how 'Jane''s empty head turns into a brainless pool of water with goldfish swimming in it. Down get me wrong kids, I've been in love with Buks books for decades, but his contempt for women is something of legend now, no matter how amusing we find that now.
@TheAdultChild101 The type of response you gave me can't be called an argument. "Look at the evidence, it's there". "Look it up - it's everywhere". "It's really clear - can't you see it?" You read like an old book.
Fuck this is so good. The second time i listened to it i shivered and got goosebumps from the narrators calm emotionless voice. its perfect. I do find it funny that the shops name is chinaski after Bukowski's alter ego henry chinaski. The end also has so much meaning to it and makes me think about life for a while.
Wow... I think the man in the house was buk. That was truely beautiful, beautiful story, beautiful meaning, truely beautiful. I'm going to watch this a million times more before I die.
This was absolutely beautiful. This animation did such great justice to Buk, and in all truth, filled me with such joy. Very nicely done, I would like to see more of these.
I have recently seen some interesting animation based on Buk's short stories on Global tantrum, really worth a look if you remember the story of the little people in the cage and more.
Ashamed.

This is brillaint for two reasons.
One, it is simply a great film and piece of animation.
Secondly, it allows me to hear Bukowski's words afresh. There's no imagery associated with him and it's not his voice.
I'd just been thinking the other day how good it would be to read Bukowski for the first time again. That was pretty fucking close.
Love that. Thanks.
