  • I am sorry but, "it's LIKE a civil rights issue" can we be a little more decisive please.

It IS a civil rights issue. On the other hand... the CONSERVATIVE news organization thought it ought to be repealed, that was definitely an indication that this country was beyond finished with the DADT law. Except for the honorable senator McCain of course.

  • Alexander the great was gay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Right on. This guy knows what he's talking about. I like his practical approach to this, as well as his sense of honor of doing what is right by the citizens of this great country.

  • Finally??? Obama is just talk!

  • @Simonet25 In light of Obama signing the law overturning DADT, are you ready to revisit this comment?

  • "it's like a civil rights issue"

  • Woah! this is fox??

  • WTF? how do gay people go to the bathroom differently? Fox news is really stupid

  • @erictarin hes talking about women serving in the military.

  • @erictarin He was referring to when women weren't allowed at one time either.

  • Don;t be fooled fellow Libtards!, Fox is phoney and was just testing the Pro-Repeal angle on their core viewers

Its called "floating a trial balloon".

  • @Rite4AReason

It's a moment of REASON on their stupid network!

  • It's typical commercialism at its finest.

They're saying this only to get more viewers!

Any smart military person would deny letting gays in. This guy's probably getting a nice kickback from some gay lobbying group!

Everyone knows gays have tons of dough, and they spend it to further their agenda!

  • you are a first class idiot.

  • @Rite4AReason Paranoid much?

  • @LibsMakeGr8Sandbags , when your concerns are based on bigotry and paranoia, then I only give a fuck about them regarding the damage they do to military effectiveness. If you can't work with your team, whoever they are, you should be out.

  • @rg0057 I'll be working with my team alright.

You have NO understanding of who we are.

  • You appear to be filled with rage, hate, paranoia, and self righteousness..these qualities put you in the WRONG, and automatically disqualify you from enjoying the society we live in. I'm not gay, but I have no animosity towards gays, as you do. I'm sorry for whatever gay attacks have been perpetrated on you to make you feel so angry about this issue. I predict that you will end up in a prison someday, because of your hateful, angry views. Prison doesnt have "dont ask, dont tell, either."..lol

  • I served as a law officer in the military & arranged some courts martial for gays

My COs could've just discharged them but wanted to discourage others from coming out just so they could get out of going to Nam

They were usually changed w/ fraudulent enlistment but the officers doing the courts martial considered it a waste of time & none received Dishonorable Discharges - they were all given General under Honorable Conditions

Most in the military I knew don't care if some1 else was gay or not

  • If a gay or lesbian wants to fight let them. I have never understood why people are so concerned about were others put their naughty bits.

  • America is clearly still stuck in the dark ages.

  • It is very refreshing to hear someone like COL David Hunt speaking like this. It is absolutely time to do away with this discriminatory, anti-American ban. Instead of enforcing this ridiculous ban, senior military leaders should address the very high incidence of adulterous promiscuity and STD infection that occur inside the services, due to unauthorized fraternization between heterosexual service members. How come they want to ban gays, but turn a blind eye to this very damaging reality?

  • I don't know about now, but when I was on AD we were expected to put service before self, speak when spoken to, and move out and draw fire when so ordered. The military will obey orders and keep adapting, overcoming, and improvising as they've done since 1775, regardless of any personal opinions or concerns individual service members may have. The military's job is to protect democracy, not practice it. Respect the uniform, and wait until you're back in civilian life to voice your dissent.

  • How is this a social experiment? The "experimental" aspect of this has already been done by many other nations with no diminishment in the morale or readiness of their armed forces. This isn't even an opinion of "certain groups", but instead enjoys support among a swath of people of many differing political beliefs.

  • @LibsMakeGr8Sandbags , it's not you who have no voice. Which law exactly tells you "Don't Tell"? Baby.

  • Don't be such a baby. Gay people do not pose any threat to you in the showers or in the same sleeping quarters. How many gay people do you know?

The fact is, gay people serve openly , without problems in all other NATO countries (except Turkey). Other people's well being deserves more protection that your hurt feelings - frankly it sounds like you should be the one being kicked out.

  • People only express their opinion with violence when they are too stupid or immature to get people to see their point by using logic and reason.

  • I'll enjoy getting "stupid" on the fags.

I hope you think it's worth it.

  • @LibsMakeGr8Sandbags Something tells me "getting stupid" comes easily to you.

  • Since when is respect for the civil rights of all a "social experiment"? By your logic, desegregation in the military must have been a "social experiment" too. You can make your opinion known when appropriate, even if it is as bigoted and prejudiced as you're making it out to be. It isn't appropriate for you to express your personal opinions in a public, controversial manner while serving on AD. I don't know how long you've been in the military, but you definitely should know better.

  • We should let white people vote if they want to re-institute slavery as well.

  • nfl, no that would be rules governing the population at large, not just inside the military.

It would be best to keep it non-sexual between the troops.

  • Fox finally read a few national opinion polls and found out that outside the standard FNC bubble, a majority of Americans, including a modest majority of REPUBLICANS, favor ending the ban.

  • What are they doing? They are ruining the script they have been serving the American Public for years!!!!

  • Clever like a fox.

  • Fox News gets a gold star for this one.

  • "How you go to the bathroom..."

Ummm....what does that have to do with the conversation? Do gays go to the bathroom while standing on their heads?

  • He meant women vs. men, I think.

  • nope

  • Maybe he was thinking of Larry Craig and his 'wide stance'. ;-)

  • The big argument against gays is that they would have to use separate bathrooms, changing areas and sleeping quarters. Just like in civilian life where public bathrooms come in mens, womens and gay, right. Oh that's right- it is a silly excuse, not a legitimate reason.

  • I think he means the differences between men and women.

  • Wow. That was a little unexpected.
