Inventive ending. I remember years ago,Gary "Big Daddy" Goodridge used this technique without the neck crank and pummeled his opponent unconscious within a few seconds with seven or eight elbows back in an early U.F.C. ( no. Eight I think ) . I like your version much better however.
Move is legal in folk-style wrestling as long as you don't crank the far arm up. You have to keep the final position (legs on close arm, one hand pulling far arm) and keep the other guy's shoulders down on the mat so it's a pin. The more he tries to avoid the pin, the further you FINGER WALK your hand into the submission. I've done it B-]
God, i tried crucifix once in judo randori against much stronger opponent, and (somehow) he slamed me on my face. Didn't want to leave the crucifix so my noce was pretty bloodied up. Btw, this is one nice tutorial!
Good technique. I tried it as a white belt and caught a purple belt at my gym. I couldn't finish it though. Interesting finish. I usually use a neck crank or a collar choke if possible.
ive seen it done where you pull the other arm around the back of your head and use both of your hands to crank their head/neck. idk if thats better or more efficient, but it seems easier the way i see it. but im no expert nor am i claiming to be. would maybe like to hear from someone who knows what they are talking about to tell me if it would be equally/more/less efficient than the technique shown in the vid
Master Odie Neto- a well respected vertran of this game, is a passionate professor of this great art. It is truly a treat and a privilage to learn from this man. He's as genuine as they come and so true to the sport/art. Thank you for being a catalyst Odie! Looking forward to the future. Best regards.
Mocking our savior is a sin and may the maker of this sinful video be punished by our God. It is up to God be putting his people in a crucifix, not a man filled with sin. This video is intolerant it needs to be deleted immediately, I have already flagged this video for its hateful content.
@SAMFlSHER40l7 Hey man I'm just as religious as the next guy, and I'm not trying to interfere here and realize you're only expressing your opinion, but this vid wasn't a mockery of Christ. It is only called the Crucifix because of the final position the person ends up in resembling a crucifix. GJJ/BJJ was formed in Brazil, which is a very religious Catholic place, and Catholocism is the only religion that displays Christ on the Cross. Nobody is mocking Christ here.
@ArkAngelHFB I split my time between Gracie Combatives, which is where most all of my training comes from, and I go to my old TKD/JJ instructor to roll live with guys up there so I'm getting live feedback. I know a lot of guys throw shit the Gracie's way for the Combatives but its a really good course.
@mataleao1994 I honestly don't see why people put stuff down at all unless it's completely non effective.
I will be honest though... While have taken classes on bjj I hold a pretty anti-gi view... Gi's are great but they let you slack off in some areas and force you to assume in other areas... what if a guy comes at you without a shirt on... collar chokes just went out the window... I just feel that gi's are fine but the majority of your rolls should be without... as if in a real fight...
@ArkAngelHFB I agree with you completely. Gi's can be ok to train in but you should dedicate time to no-gi as well so that you are prepared for a real fight. Nobody in 2011 is going to be wearing a gi, epsecially a street fighter.
@mataleao1994 yeh but dont forget people wear 'clothes' in street fights, the gi replicates clothes... people who train 'no gi' are usally interested in mma competition.
@mataleao1994 that depends, are you fighting a shirtless person, or is he wearing some kind of t shirt, or even a jacket. a jacket has lapels and a collar just like a gi, its almost the same thing.
@maynard243 the only way to find out is to practice. Sometimes you wont see an opportunity for a technique like this, but sometimes you do. You can force it as well. Leave a leg out front like you're just asking for a single leg takedown. I've got a judo technique very similar to this that gets alot of "ooohs and ahhhs" from my friends. Just practice man

This is a fairly advanced Jujitsu technique... If you don't have training, I wouldn't waste my time attempting this move from a video... You need to train to get good at things like this =)
a few weeks ago i pulled this in an a nogi match but neck cranks weren't allowed and i didnt know what to do. could someone tell me a few submmision options from this positiion besides the crank?
you can use it but you have to switch to your stomach fast so you dont pin yourself. you cant make it obvious that the neck is getting torqued either. once the ref is belly down lookin for a pin... then torque the head, you will definetly pin him and the ref likely wont notice
There is a different crucifix in wrestling. I wouldn't tell you to hit this move, and some refs can call it as you trying to apply a joint/pressure lock and give you penalties. Also, you could be pinned from this in a wrestling match.
in Freestyle wrestling, the crucifix is my favorite move. i hope someone video tapes me doing it in a match and posts it on the web because i dont have a video camera. great move! i give this vid a 5.
haha wow! this is kinda cool because i had created a POS submission wrestling move that was easy to escape from called the crucifix... the offender laid across the defenders back bellied down and scissored the opponents arm, and grabbed a tight lock around the remaining arm... then they streched. i don't know if you can visualise this in your head by reading this but it's incredibly similiar to this move above
I used to see a banner for ntacademy on el cajon blvd where the sports park is up on some stairs. I recently passed by the academy by accident and did not think much of it. Seemed like yet a nother jj academy. But man this guy has a lot of moves you don't normally get taught. It seems like even some of the neutral positions he has something to nail your ass with. I used to like it when almost no one knew about BJJ...
no at 47 he would and there is a better way to do that when he got ur leg do like u would to the head with the geatine and roll back to ur shoulder but thats for wrestling.
LOOKS cool?!?! This move IS cool... They were gonna name it cool, but that word was already taken... By the god damn penguins... dammit... I'm go club baby seals and what not...
