Nice AD. Too bad that isn't what has been reported by factory farmers or video's either. So you definitely are an exception!! As long as you keep all those innocent pigs as pets forever, then yes you are compassionate! But if you earn money off them and if you kill them when they don't want to die, then you are not compassionate at all.
It is nice to see a farm which is the exception. I still do not agree with factory farming. Your farm looks like you treat the animals better than most. Where are the videos of the mother in the farrowing crates? These were small pigs. What happens with the larger ones? More videos would be helful for all to see. Thanks!
@MrCristea thank you for your wonder ful comment; however, I wouldn't call us the exception. Most hog farms do treat their pigs well, we just see more bad videos than good ones. We aren't a farrowing operation so we don't have any sows. We have wean to finish barns. We take the pigs after they are weaned from their mother and they are raised in our barns until they are market weight. Great questions!
@islandmamma Farming isn't ALL about big business. There is no doubt that it is a business and every business must make money to survive but more importantly farming is a way of life. We aren't a bunch of fat CEO's sitting around raking in cash, we are a family raising pigs and producing pork. And that's no lie!
this is still wrong! too many animals in one place, and they are scared of the rattles and plastic boards. put them in a field and let them roam and root like they are supposed to. intended by nature.
And it's a well known fact that most of the people in the Nazi concentration camps were well cared for too. Give me a break. If your a real farmer, go grow some crops and leave the animals alone.
@squarkman We do grow crops, as well. We row farm corn, soybeans, and occasionally wheat. Thank you for asking. We also use the manure from the hogs as a natural fertilizer as oppose to petroleum based chemical fertilizers. You can see this in my Manure Management video and learn more about modern pork production by watching Modern Farming Traditional Values.
@squarkman Well cared for? Where did you hear that? Those people were starved, tortured, and experimented on. I've read autobiographies by victims, and I've heard a soldier who liberated Jews from death camps speak. They were anything BUT well cared for. Coming from an agricultural state and being an animal science major, I can tell you that the treatment livestock receive is MUCH kinder than what the Holocaust victims were subject to. Most farms are humane, you only hear about the bad ones.
@revolutionrocknroll Well said and thank you for your support. I have seen many comments that compare animal ag to the Death Camps of the Holocaust and I find such comparisons distasteful and disrespectful. I can’t imagine how someone can logically and ethically contrast the Jewish people that suffered horrific atrocities to modern day livestock. It's a really poor comparison and a completely inaccurate depiction of farming.

@squarkman Nothing wrong with eating meat or farming animals as well as crops. They are both here to be eaten.

My canibal friend says there's nothing wrong with eating people. He's says that's what his enemies are here for.

@squarkman Eating or killing a human is a crime. The animals are here for us to eat. We breed them for food. No crime in eating farm animals.
