@bonusbuff the new ones are poly, but the older macbooks are the unibody aluminum. Mine is a 13inch aluminum macbook, which isn't made anymore. The pro's when mine were new were only available in 15 and 17 inch. I bought mine a few months after the unibody aluminum models just hit the market.

@bonusbuff I would assume they went back to poly for the standard Macbook to reduce manufacturing costs. The new poly units start at $999, and the Macbook aluminum was more around $1,199 without a backlit keyboard. I got the upgraded model, which included a larger 250 gig hard drive which came with the backlit keyboard. The new Pro's now have integrated batteries which can last up to 10 hours, have a firewire port, and start at $1,199, and come with 4 gigs of memory, where mine has 2

in all reality you really won't see much of a speed difference if your an average user who primarily uses a computer for internet, email, music, videos, etc. However, if your a graphic designer, gamer or someone who uses programs that take up a lot of system resources, you'll definitely need the added horsepower.

I just bought a MacBook Pro 13" for $800 =D Its got a slower processor at 2.2GHz but it has 4GB of RAM and 250GB of HardDrive, so it's almost like this model. Won't be picking it up 'till next month though. I just reserved it for now =P

Unless you did a clean install of Snow Leopard on the MacBook and MacBook Pro before you made this video then the MacBook will be a bit slower. On both macs you should open Disk Utility, choose Mac HD and go to Repair disk permissions and then do the video again, they'll both be a lot faster

@i3loodhunte31181 I'd recommend a PC to you because Mac's are 1. Much more expensive (I'm sure being a student you'd like to get more bang for your buck), 2. Macs are much less versatile, and 3. Barely ANY games are supported and compatible with a Mac.

@delerious186 It's really simple to keep your PC running great. Weekly disk cleanups and monthly defrags will keep it running smooth. There are also free programs such as CCleaner that clean the registry and more thoroughly clean temp files. That's what I do. I reformat every year because Im picky about the slightest speed decrease, but realistically you could keep a single install for the entire life of your PC, just maintain it.
