@sirAthrus I believe it's because the player character is the descendent of the Furtive Pygmy who found and hid the fourth Lord Soul and therefore cannot die permanently and never becomes Hollow. Whereas, other "regular" Undead stay "dead" when killed again or descend into madness and become Hollow after a period of time...I think..
@Omnicronify Yeah but when ever you use a Bonfire the other hollows and monsters respawn, so it stands to point that he would just come back again at a bonfire or something?
Unless he isn't a undead?
Does he ever mention that he is undead cause I can'r remember him saying it in any dialogue?
@sirAthrus Sieglinde mentions at the Ash Lake that she killed her father because he went Hollow ("My father...all Hollow now...has been subdued"). Working backwards this means that he was always Undead because only Undead eventually go Hollow.
As for the bonfires; I personally think that's more of a game mechanic that keeps the game from being too easy by re-spawning enemies (it's worth pointing out that NPCs you've killed don't re-spawn) rather than an integral part of the storyline.
It says, "Bone fragment reduced to white ash. Return to last bonfire used for resting. Bonfires are fueled by bones of the Undead. In rare cases, the strong urge of their previous owner's to seek bonfires enchants their bones with a homeward instinct."
@sirAthrus haha! I know what you mean; it seems almost everyone ends up dead or in depressing circumstances. I imagine it ties into the whole "Dark" atmosphere or something..
@sirAthrus I don't know if this has been resolved already but the reason you come back and Siegmeyer doesn't is because you're branded with the darksign and he's not. Both can become hollow though.
I find this touching for some reason... does that mean I have played too much dark souls?

What I don't get is this, if the NPC's in the game are undead like your own character.
How come Siegmeyer doesn't come back?
BTW what armout is that?
Not the Catarina armout, The armour the character is wearing?

@Omnicronify Ah but the lore you read in the description of the item Homeward bone, say that all undead will return to the last bonfire upon death.

@sirAthrus No it doesn't o.O
It says, "Bone fragment reduced to white ash. Return to last bonfire used for resting. Bonfires are fueled by bones of the Undead. In rare cases, the strong urge of their previous owner's to seek bonfires enchants their bones with a homeward instinct."
I think it can only be used by "living" Undead.

@Omnicronify I must have mis-read it then.
Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to pick fault with the game, I love it.
I'm just a little annoyed that one of the best NPC characters was killed off like Solaire.

@Omnicronify Would be nice if you could bring them back like the Firelink Shrine Fire Keeper.

Lol it isnt Siegmeyer, but his daughter Sieglinde. She is crying because his father, Siegmeyer, died. None of them is fat, it is just the armor.
