Listened to this while driving PCH in California last week; top down, music up. Hadn't heard it in years, now making up for lost time. This song, Silk Pyjamas, and my favorite, That's Why People Fall in Love. Thomas Dolby, Eddie VanHalen, PCH! Good memories....
@nettiefitzgerald Had this as the B-Side of a cassette single, I Love You, Goodbye. Played this song infinitely more than the A-Side. Drove down PCH a few weeks ago... with Mom and George Strait :(... , Hard Top, and a lot of bitching... umm... can I come hang out with you?
This is such a great song, it's criminal that it's hardly known. It works brilliantly as a sequel to "Europa and the Pirate Twins" too, replacing the melancholy of the earlier song with hope for the future. It's a brilliant song in its own right, but that Van Halen guitar break counterpointed with the strong bass just bears it aloft and into excellence. I'm gushing a bit, I know, but I haven't heard this in years and it's just as good as I remembered it.
I remember reading in a interview in 1991 with Eddie Van Halen that he recorded 2 songs with Dolby. Thomas brought his computer over to 5150 & Eddie recorded on this song and another called "Close but no cigar". This was when VH was recording their F.U.C.K album. Eddie sounds great on that Wah Wah pedal!
@Barkmann44 But not by that much. And some of Dolby's shit is hard to find online. I'll take it where I can get it, thanks, since I can't find my cassette of this album
Dude u should retitle this, with eddie vanhalen in it. You know how many EVH fans that would appreciate this. Id heard this years ago took me 4ever to find here. THXS!!
Thanks for posting!
