I was born in Texas but I was raised in Mexico and came back to the states 5 years ago. I'm a Master-at-Arms in the United States Navy and very proud to serve this country.
I'm not taking anything away from Navy Seals but my question is, If Navy Seals are such badasses and everyone says they are better than Green Berets then why weren't they the first ones into Afghanistan from our Armed Forces??? If Navy Seals can do everything better than any other US Spec Ops, then why did Green Berets get there first? Why is the commander of all US Forces in Afghanistan a Green Beret? Why have the majority of SOCOM Commanders been Green Berets? Can anyone answer that???
the two groups are completely different. USSF is naturally going to go in first because of the fact that their primary role isn't as a direct action force. GB's went in first to instill revolution and unrest amongst the populace. Green Berets (contrary to popular belief) are more like diplomats in the field then a take no prisoner snake eating soldiers that they are commonly thought to be. And Gen. David Petraeus isn't a Green Beret he's a Ranger.
@09whiteout I was talking about McChrystal, not Petraeus...I know Petraeus is a Ranger. Green Berets....badass...they can do it all. There primary role isn't as direct action but they sure do it well. Beginning of Afghanistand and Iraq was all direct action and they were involved in that. Don't forget, a handful of Green Berets toppled the taliban in those mountains....that shit was nasty...
@redthreemike Special forces, including SEALs were in afghanistan directly after 9/11 and did a number on the Taliban. This was weeks before we invaded Iraq.

We gave SEALs a new acronym in the Raq & Stan. SEALs stands for Sleep Eat And Lift, that's all they do. Their mission is not as great as the one of Army SF. Navy Seals are not as diverse. Navy Seals are pretty much the Navys version of the Rangers, they really are, that's it. Let's not fantasize over movies and books guys, they have fucked up in about every conflict. Grenada, Panama, Afghanistan..training is not the only place where the attrition rate is high, also in real combat missions.
What Army SF? Green Berets? LOL- If you want to understand the depth and breadth of complexitiies related to SEAL missions and objectives review the missions for Green Berets and SEALs in Cambodia in the 1960's. If you don't know much or see much about SEALs theer is a reason for it.
Holy Crap! This man is Frank, one of my best friends.. I am honored to have this guy as my friend. I cannot say enough good things about Frank, its great to see him here! I am also from Mexico and I also served my country, the USA, in the Marines! Proud to be an American
I am also from Mexico. My family doesn't understand that we came to this country and it gave us everything. We have a way better life then we could have in Mexico. For that reason I feel we have to give something in return to this country. My grandpa was a SEAL and I will be one as well. Sorry family but its my life. HOOYAH!!!

I suggest we hand out more Green Cards to foreign nationals to join the US military. When we must turn the guns on our own population, to continue to feed the usurers, we will want soldiers with some emotional detachment. I'm not saying that foreign nationals are a murderous lot, though I'm sure they would like a chance to shoot-up the US for a change. Funny how the promise of a future -or at least a couple of bucks and a car- will put a gun in your hands. But then, you're zombies so ...
Why does it seem that there are so many people in this country so quick to bash our government and our troops. If you dislike how things are run so much why don't you find a new country to live in.
This is the Land of the FREE because of the BRAVE!!
In the navy Yes, you can sail the seven seas In the navy Yes, you can put your mind at ease In the navy Come on now, people, make a stand In the navy, in the navy Can't you see we need a hand In the navy Come on, protect the motherland In the navy Come on and join your fellow man In the navy Come on people, and make a stand In the navy, in the navy, in the navy (in the navy)
Tocayo! You are a prime example along with Marco Antonio Firebaugh, that Mexican-American immigrants come to the U.S. to loyally contribute and make this country even greater!

Navy Recruiters mislead naive teenagers to get them to enlist, so that the recruiters could meet their monthly quotas. They don't lie, no.. they adjust the truth.
To them they believe the truth can be adjusted, to get people to enlist. They should show the tedious work, cleaning, maintenance and being a line handler during an UNREP.
Anyone who does even a modicum of research knows that along with the pride and discipline of serving in the armed forces there comes the shit jobs....it ain't all guts and glory. In fact, most of it is fairly tedious work - cleaning, maintenance, etc. I'm glad I served, though - the military makes you grow up fast.
thank you, Senior Chief Montano, for your service to our country.

The Navy recruiters will only show the "best" they wouldn't dare show an FSA, SH, or an SK working in a storeroom a 100+ degree without ventilation
