Ooooh....I think I get what is going on :) It's pretty simple when you think about it.

They are trapped somewhere (not sure where) and the black guy represents their growing fear and possibly insanity. Hence the reason when they shove in him into the light, he disappears. The reason they start fighting each other is because they are still afraid and think the other is the black cladded man in disguise.

I think ^^" Not sure about the result of the fight and the end though.

After he was gone though they realized that the only thing standing in their way was each other, but when they had finished fighting dawn had approached and they were trapped together either way, so they both lost.
