  • Josh Homme is so overrated.. Those two guys are the only reason why i've ever listened to quotsa!

  • @JimDHuggert yes and no.

  • MrSpitter Man i LOVE this song

  • I agree. Nick Oliveri's live shows are so much better than Queens now, he has all the good songs to play, plus he plays in small venues where you feel the vibe and intimacy. QOTSA play rarely at festivals where the sound is god awful.

On another note, look to the right>>>> Nick Oliveri's solo version of this is amazing, even though it is a tutorial at PlayThisRiff or something like that.

  • My comment posted three times for some reason!! When I view other related vids, I see the same comments about nick!! Course I want to see him live, would be brilliant, i want to see al the Qotsa family live again!!

Im just getting sick of fans of Qotsa constantly regurgitating the same old tired argument about nick instead of moving forward and allowing life to continue!!

The George bush thing was in reference to how know1 seems to talk about that character anymore but do whinge about Nick!

  • @dookie2kie

josh shoul'dt have kickt him out of the queens they suck now

  • What a great combination of musicians. Mark lanegan's voice has such a haunting presence. Pity Oliveri is no longer in QOTSA. Bloody brilliant song and even better in the acoustic form!

  • two of the best and very cool artists with a great song... thumbs up!!!

  • agree to but rated R and song for the deaf are the most It's a bad so his wife leave him and we play music that all.

And I think the voice of mark give an other dimension in QOTSA that's amazing

  • i agree with you and all... but shit... i like nick's music even though he's a fuckin drug- abusing , women- beating piece of shit. the best qotsa albums were recorded with nick. still i would kick his ass for what he's done to michelle

  • fuck you motherfucker, 4 thumbs up? michelle was never his wife don't talk shit if you don't know, fanboy, homme is a drunk ego fuck, in fact, everyone in kyuss was a dickhead (nick is obviously an asshole to)

  • michelle was never his wife.

  • every lyrics page says the lyrics are silent hell on the marble slab but here he says saw you layin there on the marble slab

  • It's what you are hearing, not that you had read :)

  • Wow, Nicks beard was rely huge ^^

  • Lanegan's voice is the BEST. His stuff @ Screaming Trees is great too, and his solo&collaborations! :D

  • Bobby Brown baby!! And many many more we dont know about!!

Get off the band wagon every one jumps on and listen to the music!! Stop regurgitating what the mass media say!! Its getting boring!!

Lets talk about the future, Brant Bjork, the bros, Dylan Roche, Josh Homme, Joey Castillo, Dean Ferito, Mark Lanegan, Yawning Sons, Collaborations, Explorations, Innovations and the fun side of music!!

Im excited about the direction desert rock is going!!

    Peace, Love, Death Metal! Trev

  • he got married when he was living in austin...now divorced.

  • Since when did he start beating married women? Also how does his personal life make him any less of a talented musician or any less of a singer?

  • please!!! he's beaten every woman he ever called his girlfriend and he beat his wife...he is an awesome bass player.i'll give him that much...

  • When did Nick get married?

  • it doesn't - but it makes him someone who other people don't want to be associated or work with no matter how talented. I wouldn't want a cat in my band whom I know beats on his women. Fuck that. That makes him a coward. Don't wanna make music with no cowards.

  • Nah I'm with you on that, if he did what people think he did, then those around him shouldn't support him by hanging out with him and allowing themselves to be part of the problem.

  • right on!

  • @dookie2kie Huh? You make no sense, what the hell is your comment a reply to? George Bush isn't Nick, and while Ws approval ratings were around 30%, that doesn't mean that any of those people knew shit, people are fucking stupid, and how he was ever elected/reelected is way fucking beyond me....he was and will always be a huge fucking cunt, and is a war criminal. So I haven't a fucking clue where you are going with that.

Now if you want to better explain that, feel free...

  • @dookie2kie I put this video up because I liked it. Yes it has Nick in it, I like all of the work he did in Queens, I don't really miss him, but I do love everything thing he did with them, Auto Pilot is one of my favorite songs that Queens has done, and it sucks that I'll never see them do it, but hey if I wanted to I could just go see him live. And that's just that, he didn't fucking die when he got kicked out of Queens or any other band for that matter...

  • @dookie2kie ....if you want to see more of Nick, don't be a fucking cock and whine that he isn't in Queens, go buy his new stuff and fucking see him live.

What I said before was that NOT that FANS SHOULDN'T, support him, but that if you are in a band with him and you think he is doing bad things, and if you are in the position to not empower him to do those things, then yes you should do that...IE if someone is doing bad shit and you don't want to be a part of it, then you fire them if you can.

  • too bad Oliveri wasnt backing vocals the entire time, would sound smoother

  • Mark Lanegan is a Rock Legend !!!!!!!!!

  • beautiful fuckin song man.....what a couple of song writing motherfuckers......

  • Lanegan is my hero !!!

    Is the best !!!

  • Fu€k ye$

  • holy shit...awesome.truly.

  • these guys are real rock icons !

  • LANEGAN RULES!

  • You said it man, what a voice

  • fuck yeah.

  • AT that time they were in Qotsa. If Josh IS Qotsa why wasn't he here? Because when you're in Qotsa you're Qotsa.

    Qotsa rocked

  • Beautiful unplugged version, i love this song

  • Long live to these guys !

  • Beastly!!!!!!!!!!

  • One of my two favs from Rated R with "Lost Art". Thank you for posting it.

  • I Love Lanegan's voice it's just one of those voices you can listen too constantly with out getting sick off... Plus he's rather pleasant to look at too lol

  • where can I download this version???

  • Go to the website on the info and from there go to the 91X music tab and click on X-sessions, it's on the second page.

  • Thanks! do u know if they have an mp3 recording of this version??

  • No mp3, but it shouldn't be too hard to rip the audio from the vid...I'd do it from the orignal source since Youtube likes....or at the very least liked to compress the shit out of the audio.

  • oh..nick wrote it?anyway its amazing..mark could have wrote it too..he embodied that so deeply..but thank you for the advice!!

  • O.O i got lost while watching this..

  • very cool...i love nick and mark's vox.

  • I wish nicks mic was a bit louder.

  • did they play any other songs in this set???

  • I only know of the two...but since I'm pretty sure this was a close doors thing with no one outside of the radio station I'm pretty sure that's all they did...Or at the very least all of the recording...I'll look into it.

  • Brilliant.

  • its a long time ago that i heard something that touches me in that place.everything fits perfect together, mark is the king of depth lyrics.

  • agreed... but nick wrote the lyrics

  • {sorry that was to shotterslife}

  • imagine mondo generator with lanegan singing...

  • @stereoskunk I think he has made some song with

  • Yeah,!!1 it´s this. xD

  • simply beautyfull

  • This is awesome, though it seems funny it is the two guys who are no longer in Queens.

  • lanegan is still in queens, he did vocals for era vulgaris

  • well yeah, he does work with them still, but he doesn't perform live with them anymore.

  • mark lanegan such a perfect voice ...luv him....nick awesomeee!!great great great great...

  • awesome version

  • hey lannegan's voice sounds different from the usual, but really good.

  • hes probably sober? lmao

  • Amazing voice!

  • This tuch the sool man.

  • Sorry soul.

  • Wow. This is actually really good.

  • Lanegan is light-years beyond QOTSA....and was their best vocalist- the other singer is pretty boring

  • not

  • Lanegan beats Homme hands down at singing. I wish the classic songs for the deaf line up would reform (Homme, Lanegan, Oliveri and Grohl)

  • I love them both, but yeah, Lanegan rules. Get his solo stuff and his Gutter Twins and Twilight Singers collaborations. And the Screaming Trees stuff. But not with Isobel Campbell.

  • I disagree about the last point. I became a fan with his solo stuff ("Field songs" to be exact and after that I went back and discovered the Screaming Trees and his previous solo CDs (all good stuff)), so I hope he will release another solo CD in the not too distant future. I love the CD with Isobel Campbell and am looking forward to their 2nd CD out in early May. But in the meantime, "Saturnalia" is excellent indeed.

  • Hmm, well let's agree to disagree on Ballad.. Broken Seas, but yes the Gutter Twins' album is great. Also try the Soulsavers album (It's not how far you fall..). Quite elctro, but one hell of an album.

  • Yes, let's agree to disagree, but sometimes I like male/female duets (I love the Nick Cave/Kylie Minogue duet "Where the wild roses grow" too). I have the Soulsavers CD too. Plus various bits and pieces he did on tribute CDs and with the Twilight Singers (it's certainly great to be able to buy just one track here and there from iTunes). He is certainly a very sought after collaborator. Maybe the best rock voice of the last 20 years. He's up there with Cohen, Waits and Cave.

  • Now that's an agree. :)

  • Nah I think the stuff with Isobel Campbel is the worst.

I found the songs a lot duller, and less going on than say, Whiskey for the holy ghost or Bubblegum.. Shoulda done more with PJ Harvey, she's way cooler. Isobels voice is a bit, well lame.

  • Yeah, that's what I thought. Apart from Rambling Man, but that's just one song.

  • qft :)

  • i fucking love this song , everytime i listen to it in a car on the freeway i crank it and forget everything else in life for a few minutes

  • They are awesome here but they sound so much better in concert, you can check that out on dabam's profile

  • i saw lanegan do this song with mondo generator a few years back, it sounded better than i ever saw qotsa play it.

  • Don't u mean Oliveri?

  • nope. lanegan came out at the end of a mondo (oliveri and friends) set, it was awsome.

i saw qotsa playin it just after R came out and again just before they released songs for the deaf. but mondo and lanegan just made it sound beutifull.

p.s who ever gave me a thumbs down, im not saying anything bad about qotsa.

  • thumbs up from me bro

  • Very interesting, only guitar and voice. The chords?

  • No he sings better technically as well, if you've heard any of his solo stuff you can hear it. Josh has a very regular voice on many songs, and he doesn't sing a lot of different tunes, scales and all that technical shit. Mark has a one of a kind voice but he can also sing very technically proficent, like going very high/singing light, that's gotta be a challenge with a voice that could market Jack Daniels wherever.

  • I THINK, u all think too much.....

    go outside, play football!

  • mark has got a great voice.

  • whoaah..mark lanegan is the king...hes the man..tht was awsome..and was cool too ,,yeah....hail to mark

  • my drink is all empty, need another round... awesome lyric's!

  • qotsa needs nick like peanut butter needs jelly. without eachother things just aint right...

  • I think its amazing when you look at how many years Mark Lanegan has been doing this r&R stuff, that he hasn't ruined his voice. The temptation to rip your vocal chords out must always be there... the man is just too cool.

He is too cool. That's all I can say. Mark Lanegan, you're great.

  • Couldn't agree more! :P Mark Lanegan = God basically. God after many near death accidents related to heroin and then some good ol Jackie D to get back on ya feet.

  • Lanegan sings WAY better then both Nick and Josh. But this session isnt the best for either, although I love it, got a certain charm to it.

  • Oliveri is awesome but I still mostly like him as a bassplayer

I saw mondo generator play and its weird that he hasnt got a better band together

I mean the other 3 were pretty boring musicians

  • I think this acoustic version is better than the studio one

  • agreed. the low harmony mark does in the bridge is brilliant.

  • awesome

  • This song is at it's best with Lanegan singing. Then again, every song is at it's best with Lanegan singing it.

  • funkyass he sings this song originally its an original lanegan song wadya mean he sucks at his own song? that josh or nick sing?

  • no dude oliveri sings on the album version of auto pilot.

you'd have to be a crack head to think thats lanegan on the album cut.

  • whoooooooooooo

  • I love Mark at the "songs for the dead"-live version, but here on "auto "pilot" he sux compared to Josh 'n Nick...

  • Nick and Mark should do a little tour together, if they haven't already. Can you imagine "auto pilot", "hangin tree", and the tunes they've done together on Mondo.

I have to agree that QOTSA will not be the same since these two left.

  • can somebody please give me a tab of this?

  • just look closely at his fingers, dude.. It's pretty easy. :-)

  • mark lanegans album "Bubblegum" is one of the best albums i have ever heard. saw him play in dublin with the twilight singers recently, he was great but they suck

  • when they sing "auto-pilot" it has a very similar sound to Bowie!

  • Beautiful.

  • Nadie como tu Nick Oliveri, nadie puede sustituirte, Nº1

  • NICK OLIVERIIIII ROCKKKKSSS

  • josh homme seems to be one of those people who are v.hard 2 work with/for.even dave grohl has said it(who had 2 deal with kurt cobain!!lol)...however homme writes some amazing songs and qotsa..rock!

  • do you have a link to back up the stuff about Dave saying that Josh is hard to work with?

  • 'Fraid not mate..it was on kerrang or something shortly after nick oliveri left(?) and dave was discussing it and he said "yup, josh homme is quite the job setter" and laughed nervously...or something along those lines..

  • josh who? I'll take mondo generator and MLB please.

Dude's good at being a rock star, but without these cats it 'll never be the same....and I was really into em

  • def check out lanegan and oliveri solo shit...Lanegan is fucking awesome...probably better than Homme, and I am a dedicated Queens fan, so that is saying alot.

  • nice vocals and also nick guitar work. i'm impresed.

  • Nick is cool man.

Everyone should check out Mark Lanegans solo shit.

  • <A href="http://www.magnetmagazine.com/interviews/desert2.html">Kinda here</a>. Not quite, but I'm sure I read one where he was a bit less moderate in how he said their relationship is.

  • is this before or after both of them have left QOTSA? lol

  • Well Mark never left them....he took some time off from the tour due to being sick...and as far as that goes...I don't know but I'ld have to guess before Nick was kicked out.

  • I think that whole him leaving for being sick is rather suspect. Hes been doing so much solo stuff lately.... and in all the interviews he says how J.Hommes is quite impossible to work with.

  • interviews?.....could you link some?

Not quite, but I'm sure I read one where he was a bit less moderate in how he said their relationship is.
