If you honestly can't put your differences aside and respect this NHL hero, then you are NOT a hockey fan in the least. I don't really even follow the Wild, im a Pens fan, but at the end of the day the NHL is a brotherhood between fans and players a-like.
I met him when i was in third grade. Now that i look back on it. He was the nicest guy i have ever talked to. He called me little man and we fist bumped:)
This man was one of the toughest SOB's to ever lace them up, but a child could melt his heart in seconds. This man gave more to charity, and youth hockey than most who call themselves elite. He made an impact where ever he went and I truly miss getting to watch him do his job. Minnesota is one kind man short now, and I know they feel it.
He had a job to do in the NHL and he did it well. Off the ice he was a tremendous person; kind hearted and caring. He would give you the shirt off his back. My sympathies go out to his family, close friends, relatives and teammates. He is sadly missed as an individual. The world is not a better place with Derek not in it. May you rest in peace Derek. Excellent tribute to him.

I'm 6'4. When a man towers over me, that is a cue not to piss him off.
