Great video man thanks! My bro killed a bunny a couple months back and neither of us knew how to gut it, we tried and failed. Now i know! I look forward to trying it out.
Hey your video is great, best one I've found on skinning a rabbit. But I have a question for you. Do you know how to break tier necks for killing them? I'm a falconer's apprentice and he wants me to break their necks once I birds caught a rabbit, but I've never broke an animals neck is all.
@HatchetFirelette very cool, i have always found the falconing process very interesting. I would say the fastest way to break a small animals neck would be to pull the head and body apart, separating the vertebrae. A fast blow to the back of the neck will also work
Quick question friend i saw you cutting the back foot of the rabbit to peel it off but i didn't saw you do that on the front feet and neck of the rabbit, do those come right off like that? or did you cut them i hope i make sense to what i am saying :)
When my dad used to do a lot of trapping, he had a couple of sharpened S-hooks on the ends of two short pieces of chain and had the chains attached to the rafters (it was in a shed with the rafters being about 6.5 ft above the floor. Each of the sharpened S-hooks would go through one of the animal's hind feet so then, having both hands free, he could easily skin the animal in a very short amount of time.
I raise rabbits and try to skin them right away.I always thought you had to let em drain right after killing. When you pick one up like you did, and it sits and blood pools, does it change the flavor?
@123456789mischief it tastes a lot like rabbit. lol, it really does taste like chicken, but the darker bits of the chicken. its not like the white meat
@JADEAV Observe, my dear Watson. It is winter there, therefore the young rabbits are old enough to fend for themselves. Mating season is in spring, and so the only time where it would cause any harm other than the shot rabbit is in spring or summer.
used to skin rabbits when i was young with my grandfather, but haven't done it for years and my mate has just dropped off 6 for easter that he lamped last night so thanks for the reminder. Cheers from the UK.
Great video Pat I had to wait till daughter wasn't around to watch we have pet rabbits. I don't hunt them anymore since then but if I survival citation I am not going to starve.
well, yes and no. It depends on where i shoot them and how the fur looks. If they are sub par i just use my quick and dirty method. but if they arent damaged i try to case skin them, grey squirrels but fox squirrels are TOUGH it takes some time to get it right
Good job...I do it pretty much the same way....I actually have a vid request about it but I am running out of time :) Maybe next week...thanx for the post 5/5
It would be difficult for me to skin an animal. I think I'd be too squeamish. But maybe it would be different if I was starving in the woods.

@HatchetFirelette one of the eiasiest ways to break a small animals neck is to tke the rabbit and snap its head back and forth in a quick motion

How do you cure the hide? Do you use burnt wood ashes if you can make a video on how to cure it that would be cool.

Every time you eat meat, you're eating an animal that has been taken from its 'family' orz.
