  • The only things missing now is the flashing sword swing and the dart-like sound of Tristans throwing stars. Love this xD

  • this would have been good for a mega man game

  • Say what you want about the rest of the game, there is no denying one simple fact:

    The soundtrack ruled.

  • @WillRennar Also, the game ruled, too. I'm a huge fan of MQ.

  • if u know this ,u had an awesome Childhood.

  • omg

i remember this, i miss this game, when i think of final fantasy this never came to mind tho lol

  • Metal!

  • (drools in epicsy)

  • This is everything a battle theme should be. Holy shit.

  • I loved this game as a kid.

In the UK where I live it was onlt known as Mystic Quest.

It wasn't until years later that I realised it was a Final Fantasy Title.

And here was me thinking I only got into them recently with VII and beyond. When in reality I've been with them since the old days.

  • *thwap thwap thwap*

    BUUUUUUUuuurrrrrrr

  • Truely worthy of being a final fantasy battle theme :)

  • Oh. My. God. This game.

I loved this before I even knew what Final Fantasy WAS, haha! Gotta get my hands on a new cart somewhere.

  • @Aulakauss if youve got a wii, its 8$ in in virtual console.

  • @Phantommkll He meant remake with realistic graphics and updated music

  • @36256564874847848487 then why does he want a new cart? look if you mean wmenhar at the top comments then yeah, but i dont see anywhere from aulakauss wanting a remake. so i answered his question.

  • @Phantommkll Ow,I confused It.Sorry.

  • @Aulakauss you can just an emulator online and a rom and play it.

  • I like how the battles are almost like the ones in the Dragon Quest games. ^_^

  • It´s a epic game =) One of the beste snes Games

  • This battle music makes even the brownies epic.

  • this song is fuckin hard. but it dont got shit on megaman X

  • I remember fucking shit up to this beat. Rain on! =)

  • Megaman X anyone?

  • Aw man this is bitchin'!

  • This song makes me wanna bust out the SNES... :( I miss the classics like this, and Lufia... and Earthbound D; WTB Good Remakes!

  • Pretty cool battle theme. If you haven't heard the mix from Hellion Sounds yet, you should. It rocks HARD.

  • @Megatyrant It is incredible, but I can barely hear the melody in it...-_- *hides in emo corner*

  • This music even sounds awesome in turbo mode on any emulator. Yes. I powerleveled a lot. :D

  • Man just do a remake of all those epic games back in the days!!! The storylines and the game musics were far superior!

  • God this is such a memory....or at elast it woulda been had i not got it a few years back. I lost my first one when I was 4 and gone 15 years without it. If it wasn't for this game and all its epicness..........Gaming wouldn't even exist in my life

  • Odd enough the bad quality makes it sound much more awesome XD

  • LOL, when I was kid I got this game for about $15 at a flee market and it turned out to have one of the best regular battle themes ever.

  • For us young USA gamers this is what made us love RPGs

  • 0:00 - Your party has engaged in battle

0:27 - Your ally has fallen

    0:36 - Avenging your comrade

0:39-0:44 - "You're going to pay for that!"

    0:45 - No mercy

  • this game is rare? i still have mine.. wuts the value?

  • @OnePunch89 I don't think it's worth very much to be honest, I got a copy at a used game store about a year ago for around $20. However if you still have the box and intruction booklet it will be worth much more.

  • @cliffemall666 hmmm it funny because when i checked saturday there were two cart only auctions going for 80 w/out shipping.

  • @OnePunch89 20-100 depending on the buyer, also it depends on what edition ed 1 calls the mana tree the life tree, 2nd ed's call it the mana tree, and it thanks square japan for the use of their game Seiken dentsu(secret of mana, yes this game was the first secret of mana in japan, thats why n japan our secret of mana has a 2 aftr it)

  • AWESOMMMMMEEEEEE

  • "pump shotgun" lets kick some ass! lol i know , its totaly not fitting with final fantasy but the song is badass lol

  • i love this game to death :)

  • Back in the day, FF Mystic Quest was considered a "Crappy" FF game. I always liked it because it was so different from the others. Yea, FF3 is good and all but the music to this game does it for me :)

  • quality isn't that good

  • If I had known that this game was going to be rare years later..I wouldn't have sold it used to a game store for a ridiculously under valued price.

  • SNES guitar FTW.

    Again.

  • This is a very good battle song, and nice quality for a snes game.

  • Why does it sound so tiny?

  • Mystic Quest's legacy lives on Golden Sun..

  • @TheParnak No, Golden Sun is better :D

  • One of the best FF battle themes ever made. I miss this game... so easy at gameplay but so addictive and beautiful :')

  • i fought some epic battles to this music

  • the rhythm guitar chords are not common in this kind of playing.

  • I don't think the composer cared. It's just too awesome.

  • I used to have this game.. man I miss it.. *Balls uncontrollably*

  • This song sounds a lot like Rick Wakeman. Damn, that's a nice synthetizer over there! Love this song.

  • synthesizer* sorry

  • Very under rated game.

  • REMAKE REMAKE REMAKE

  • @wmehar2 Descendants of Erdrick.

  • @wmehar2 check out our uploads =) VGM tribute band based out of Austin, TX. We cover it on our album!

  • @wmehar2

    YEAH <3

  • FF XI isn't as much like a FF game as it is a social network, or at least that's the case after enough years of playing it.

  • i'm gonna make a youtube poop with this song!

    P.S: awesome music dude!

  • IMHO, I think this sounds more like a cool "Exploration" Song, more then a battle :)

  • you know..... for a game of this age... this music would be awesome... The main thing that makes it even more awesome is the fact this was from a LEGENDARY game that was on the SNES..

the first time i found this i was like 0.0

  • not quite legendary. that is reserved for Super Metroid, FF3, Chrono Trigger, and Star Fox.

  • FF3 and Chrono Trigger omg best games ever!!!

  • The series is legendary. This game; however, was not really recognized as a worthy installment in the FF series. The only installment that didn't feature music written by Nobou Uematsu (?spelling)

Definitely underrated composition though. This game as well as Megaman X, Star Fox, Secret of Evermore, and Contra reside in my top 5 video game music.

  • @noximputesta wut>? no super castlevania 4?

  • Thank you. Someone had to chime in and say it. FF Mystic Quest does not qualify as "legendary" by any means, though it is amusing and fairly entertaining for a game as old as it is.

  • If I had to compare this game's music to these legendary games, I would say that this one is definitely the winner in that department...maybe mega man x but not much else. Love that techno.

  • You guys are leaving out Lufia II. Probably one of the best, most underrated, unknown game with an AMAZING music track. I do agree with you about Chrono Trigger, I love that game, and FF is also awesome. ^.^

  • @orochikaishu Legendary? This game wasn't very well-liked when it came out.

  • i forgot about this game! its very diffrent

  • This music makes me want to kill something with my guitar axe combo.

  • COMBO BREAKERRRRRR!

  • This aint Killer Instinct buddy, ULTRA!! Ultra!!! ultra!

  • the best battle music FF ever had. what a sad decline that series had after part 6. *sigh*

  • Decline? in what, music? I hope you're joking, music..or games. FF7...9...and 10 all came during your so called "decline." Some of the greatest games ever made...not to mention my all time fav FF Tactics.

  • well, thats like... YOUR opinion man. :P

  • You sir, are a pompous airhead.

Of course FFVI is one of the greatest staple games in FF history, but that does NOT in any way suggest that VII and IX are bad. And no, it's not just MY opinion. It's a very commonly accepted fact. So eat it, dick.

  • tactics is a spinoff besides (I like it too). and saying that 7 or 9 are better than 6 is... well...your opinion man.

  • I never said 7 and 9 were better than 6. By reading my comment, you can clearly see that I that some of greatest games ever made followed ff6. IMO, (as you stated the obvious), ff6 is also one of the greatest games ever...but in no way was there a decline in the series afterwards.

  • there is no decline... in YOUR opinion.

  • Personally I think it was all over after 10.

  • Yeah... however, I definitely wouldn't say decline at FF7... it deserves credit, it has a large fan base, and is the FF with the largest amount of games that are not remakes...

While after 10... well... words can't explain it

MMORPG FF, Real Time Strat FF (FFXIII DS)

  • There isn't anything wrong with the "MMORPG FF" music or storyline-wise...

FFXI gets bashed entirely too much.

  • I agree whole-heartedly. They've been doing the same type of game for so long, they needed to try something new. And FFXI is a GREAT MMO. It's not trying to be Everquest or Ultima Online or a crazy combination of both. It is it's own game. Very well made.

  • And by 10 you of course mean "after 10 was made" (aka FFX inclusive). Always thought this music was the raddest, BTW.

  • Yeah, this is kind of like Mega Man X music. Really old and not very memorable.

  • Are you kidding me? Mega man X had some awesome music.

  • Hell yeah, ugly face. Megaman x6 had sick music.

  • EPIC BATTLE!!!

  • Huh. This kind of music reminds me of a piece from Mega Man X, what with the electric guitars and heavy beats.

  • Wow, this is pretty damn bitching for a game its age! Damn, man.

  • Oh its fucken awesome. Been playing it since I was 5 when it first came out in 1992.

Most of the FF Fanboys I talk to don't even know about this one because they were all hyped up about FF III and IV being released at the time.

  • FF III & IV have a better gameplay but the music from mystic quest is incredible, i love this shit :D

  • Damn, I Love the music in this game. Badass.

  • aaaah so good! excellent music! one of the best game ever...

  • Woot! I still have this for my Super Famicom! FFMQ Is awesome!! I played it recent ^^!

    thx for this upload!

  • Pretty bad ass, I remember a friend of mine had this, and I totally remember the music.

  • 0:28 or so reminds me of being poisoned or debuffed along with the sound FX.

1:03 if you ever reached this point, then you know the battle went on for too long, or you just left it to loop so you could listen to it, lol

  • My thoughts exactly with the poison

  • best battle theme imo :)

  • agreed ths battle theme will always be my fav. its been 16 years since playing this. i still own the game and the emulation. ahhhh great times of fun rpg freedom not like most rpg games nowadays that focus more on graphics instead of challenge factor and songs.

  • owned

  • lul

  • It's not old school 8-bit...?

SNES had a 16-bit drawing engine. The NES was the 8-bitter.

  • this battle theme fucking owns final fantasy VII's face

  • @DaMirrorLink I don't know about that, but this theme is still epic.

  • @DaMirrorLink yeah but this isnt really a final fantasy game, in japan this game was Secret of mana 1, thats wh our mana 1 in japan is seiken dentsu 2, this game was originally called seiken dentsu.

  • @DaMirrorLink

lol probably right.. Both are great though.

  • @DaMirrorLink The battle theme own the entire game? Highly subjective, but this has got NOTHING on "FFVII"s battle theme, which ought to tell you how good that one is considering how awesome this is.

  • I love it =D

  • I love this battle theme.

  • yeah the music rocks and the game rocks too you heard me critics this game rocks

  • thank you for posting this!!!!!!!

  • One of the best battle music themes they made.

  • i love this shit.

  • this ones nice
