I'm not sure if Tatra is the best truck producer (there are many others like Kamaz,...), although I am Czech, so it's expected of me to say how great they are, but yes I love 'em. It's like love at first sight. Those Volvos, Mans,... are great on road, beautiful design, but when it comes to heavy terrain, you don't want to get a scratch on it. And that's a time for heavy duty trucks like Tatra. Well, one might say I am contradicting, but I also love plain functional design. Tatra nezná bratra.
They pass only the Euro -5 test lol :-P In all seriousness, these are old trucks. The new ones manage Euro 5 with no electronics on the engines, only with AdBlue. Noone else in the world is capable of making a non-electronic Euro5 compatible engine.
@52111centrumcz Caterpillar engines and Cummins have strict regulations, and could likely pass these 'tough' tests. By the way, what are the strict emission percentages of Euro-5? oh, I guess I'll look it up.
It is likely that all these engines originated from the same design, air-cooled or not. I just can't imagine using an air-cooled truck in Siberia. This is my very violent respones # 2.
I meant as in Euro minus five, as in it is extremely polluting. Meant it as a joke.
These engines are actually very good for siberia, because the cooling liquid in normal engines usually froze and fractured the engine blocks. These as they have no liquid, you just put a thick cloth on the engine cowling to prevent air ingestion into the engine space (and so the air moves around the engine more, reducing temperature loss) and warm the engine up by running it for 5 minutes, and go!
@52111centrumcz Oh, a joke. I must take a leave of absence to recover. We are led to believe that Russian tech is antiquated, but they must have starships.
??? This is just a vid of an old truck showing that even though its more than 40 years old, with no maintanance other than change of braking fluid, oil and the brake pads its in very good shape. And furthermore, this truck is not Russian but Czech.
Jinak Tatřička perfektní, řidič je machr. I do toho dvora pak jak zacouval, super! :-DD

he should have stepped down the gears before starting to pass thru the water. In muddy conditions couldn't have picked it up again, just bogged down to the backbone (these things have a central spine)
Yeah, it´s 6x6 with releasing front axle. But it ins´t all...It has differential locks for all axles and differential lock beetween front and rear axles. And many other perfect Tatra construction units. Just ask...:)

hey strt8hemi, dont we also call that a weeks worth of firewood? That "River" crossing looks like the access roads to the hard stuff here in the Wallowas. I like Tatras but my heart belongs to the Pinzgauer 6x6. Check outr the pinzy 6x6 crossing the pipwe in the washed out road.
Here in Oregon, we call that "river" a creek, so I would like to see one of these crossing a river, loaded of course. Don't get me wrong, I do like Tatra's, but I look for a little more in the video content.
Some people cant like something if it isn't from America,so they are doomed to a life of limited interests, racism and close-mindedness. Pretty sad eh?
Then search for a video "UMM power" that has a bunch of guys trying to start a gas truck (a gas loaded with a semi-trailer of gas tanks) with a UMM jeep. The result is a truck with a broken gearbox. And a UMM doesn't drink up gas like your pretty pickups.

TATRA means passing the river by way of through it, not by it. The Czech people probably think our trucks look strange and unique too. I wonder which would win an offroading trial, a TATRA or an American Motors deuce-and-a-half or Five-ton.
