Funny thing is, Lewis Carrol's book were written several decades before LSD was first synthesized in 1938.

It was about the same decade as Disney's classics, but Disney's made those 'suspicious' scenes (Dumbo, eh) before LSD's effect's were dicovered, so it's most likely none of the crew were inspired by this or any drugs. LSD came into a much more common use during the decade that Walt died, after a natural alternative to the chemical was found in Mexico. And yes, they were mushrooms.

When I first read the book, I thought that the 'food effects' sybolized 'uppers and downers,' but then I later found out that they symbolized how during puberty no one feels comfortable in their body.

@nationalscene they found entries in his journal with him accounting his telling the stories of Alice in Wonderland to his boss's children, basing them off of true places and events in his life in his town. There is no proof of him using any drugs for the story, but there is proof that leads to his love of puzzles, and the possibliblity of a mental disorder that lead to a majority of scenes, along with the fact that even the most obvious puns, visual and verbal, are too outdated for us to spot.
