  • she was a class act but I disgree with her notion of if everyone were from the south it would be a kinder world or the question is kinder to who?

  • She was a trip!! Full of class. Very entertaining in every interview she gives :)

  • What a Great Great lady...

  • One can already see that she was neomg affected by her illness here, looking gaunt and thin. A shame, for sure. Loved the character she played in 'Designing Women', even when I found out that she was the antithesis of the Julia Sugarbaker part, not a liberal but a conservative. Also saw her in 'Master Class' shortly before it closed after Zoe Caldwell and Patti Lupone left and she really was remarkable playing Maria Callas. A talented women, indeed, and missed. Lost her at too young an age. RIP

  • GREAT ARTIST AND BEAUTIFUL LADY ...I'M SO SORRY...REST IN PEACE.

  • Wonderful lady, I loved listening to her and watching her videos , she gave me so much peace, thank you Dixie.RIP

  • So glad you uploaded this gem, Houston PBS. When I hear the term "southern belle", I think of Dixie Carter. Just a beautiful, kind southern lady. She is really missed. Someday when passing through TN, I would like to place some magnolias at her grave. I wish she was still here giving us great performances.

  • i love dixie carter! she was so genuine and full of life. i probably would have disagreed with her politically, but that actually makes her more appealing to me. i really miss her charm, class and eloquence. this interview gives me a warm feeling and good feeling, especially the part about her meeting hal holbrook.

  • DIXIE CARTER WE LOVE YOU!!!! RIP

  • God bless her!!! They'll never be another!!! She was THE BEST!!!!

  • I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post this, but I wanted to thank you for uploading this video of the amazing Miss Dixie. I had the amazing pleasure of having a special relationship with Dixie for the past 10 years. She was a huge part of my life and I miss her greatly! I remember when she filmed this interview, but can't say I have seen it in its entirity until now. She always speaks the truth,....she was SO kind, elegant, classy and a true one-of-a-kind! It's not the same without her!

  • Love You Dixie Rest In Peace

  • I guess heaven needed a little more class up there. Love Dixie. Will miss her.

  • A very delightful, classy and wonderful woman and I miss her tremendously. She was a wonderful actress and seemed so sweet and down to earth, a true southern lady. Even though I am a democrat, I do agree with alot of her beliefs. God bless, Dixie!

  • Such a sweet, kind woman. I'll never forget meeting her; I was trying to stay out of the way of the fans crowding to talk with her after she was a keynote speaker, just content to listen to her offstage for a moment, and she broke away from the crowd to come shake my hand and ask me my name. She was the epitome of Southern grace.

  • Just typical of a republican, more concerned about literacy than math.

  • @patsaxon You are why we (Republicans) despise you idiot Libs.

  • @mikesterSTLMO Indeed.

  • @mikesterSTLMO

And you conservatives are any better, you hypocritical self rightious bastard! I am a liberal yet I admire Dixie Carter, I may not agree with everything but I do agree with things going too fast these days. Dixie Carter seems more moderate republican to me, thank god! For a republican she is very open minded and I admire her for that as well.

  • @brejacks Who gave you permission to address me? Now off you go before someone throws a house on you too!

  • @mikesterSTLMO go to hell, Glenda!

  • You are the best Dixie! You will be missed... always.

  • Good bye Dixie. Thanks for being you. RIP

  • I love you Miss Dixie

  • how sad she has left us . We so need a show like Designing Women on the air today

  • Dixie Carter, you will always be in my heart. Much love and respect...

    R.I.P

  • Mrs. Dixie, you shall be greatly missed.

  • A true Lady and Star! In one episode of Designing Woman, "Julia" said that ten minutes after you die people will forget you. Dixie Carter will never be forgotten!

  • loved Designing Women..

  • Beautiful inside and out and with oodles and oodles of charm and a twinkle in her eyes. Hal was a lucky man. Heaven is truly blessed to have her.

  • Great interview. Can't believe it was done in January.

  • What a beautiful and charming woman she was. RIP Dixie Carter

  • rest in peace dixie carter. you were a wonderful actress and a very sweet woman. i loved your acting on desiging women. your work will live on forever.

  • RIP Dixie Cater

  • She is asked a first tricky question, but answers it well. The world would be a much kinder place if everyone was from the South. The world would move less rapidly, it would be a kinder world, a more literate world, and a better world for children. She did fight against the Southern stereotype which is still alive and well. Eternal Rest Grant Unto her, and may perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in Peace.

  • We will miss you Dixie....but you will always live on through your re-runs and movies! May your family find peace in this troublesome time. Live on Julia Sugarbaker!!!

  • Now this was a beautiful woman.

  • God bless you, Dixie, you shall be missed greatly by me and many others.

  • Great interview! She was a true Southern woman and an outstanding human being!

  • Thank you for posting this interview, as I just learned the very sad news of Dixie Carter passing today!! She will be greatly missed!

  • RIP DIXIE CARTER
