"anti gay" So how do you spin positive the disordered sexual practice of stimulating your genitals on the digestive tract of a person of the same sex?
Same sex attraction is a disorder, just look at what the pro homosexuals have done to the Catholic Church. Saul Alinsky recruited Cardinals Dearden and Bernardin to destroy the formation of Catholic priests and actively recruit homosexuals into the priesthood. How many more priest scandals must we endure.

The problem is Washington thinks that shrinking Government is like severing an arm or a leg. Both parties fight tooth and nail to spend on their respective agenda's. The more money that goes to Washington, the more they run our lives, and it is that simple!
@Wildkat1, And I'd like to add that they didn't spend it in the right places when they had the money---like our bridges and aging infrastructure. New England has miles of crumbling freeway overpasses. Awful!
The Brown revolution? Hummm, the name sounds kind of unappealing.
People want the Big Government Republicans and the Big Government Democrats out. Who ever shrinks government faster will win, I hope. Time for a new "Deal With The People". Put it down in writing, express it clearly and then stick to the map.
Wasn't cato the green hornets driver? I say driver cos I can't spell the other word. You know the french one that means driver? Starts with a C? Like what Coakley is. That begins with a C too. Hey! Coakley begins with a C. WOW! So does Cato. So is the Cato institute a school for drivers? Uh oh. Too many one hitters for today.
And this is why we give money to the Cato Institute (a four-star charity, by the way). When will the Republican Party get off of the gay bashing and Bible thumping. Leave folks alone and let the churches of their choices save their souls. Of course, if they really stood for small government, low taxes, more freedom, they would be LIBERTARIANS!
You seem educated on Brown and MA. Tell me; how many times did Scott Brown have the opportunity to vote for a TAX CUTTING bill in MASS? Seriously? You need to bring a bill number w you!! We know where he is from and we will watch him like a hawk. BUT, you are laying out charges that are not resourced or backed up w anything of substance. I'd also like to see proof that he was the architect of RomneyCare.
The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men."
-Sir Winston Churchill (The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50. London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1899).
When Scott Brown said during the debate that it was not the Kennedy seat, but the people's seat. At that moment he won. All the rest is just window dressing. Both party's need to understand that We The People are sick of them doing things against our will.
The republicans just basically need to adopt liberterian views and philosophy into their party.
If Republicans do get control of the house and senate, the only way they will stay in is by not adopting a far-right agenda. Again they need to embrace the liberterian philosophy of high personal freedom (repealing laws that constrain individual freedoms and stop protecting special segments of society- we should all be equal under the law) and high economic freedom (low taxiation).
Because the politician should be a servant to the people not to his/her own agenda. Government is suppose to serve the people. Not dictate its citizens. Government is the servant and the people it's master. It's a politicians duty to do whatever he/she can do to make things better for his/her fellow citizens, not to protect certain groups, push legislation that subdizes special segments of the economy, and so forth.
The poster above is correct. National security issues were a big factor in Brown's win - not as important as opposition to healthcare but significant nonetheless.
The Dems won by the inability of the Bush administration to defend against media attacks, and on its inability to clearly communicate the goals and principles of its government. Its big-government expansion was clear evidence of those missing principles.
But worst of all was the constant, deafening paean of 'news' media attacks for its last six years in office, equivalent to billions of dollars of negative campaigning. Small wonder the voters wanted Republicans run out of town on a rail.
Brown did run on national security. It came up in the televised debate, it was in his acceptance speech, and he campaigned on it throughout the election. How could anyone paying attention miss this?
The only thing Reagan wanted to increase spending on was defense and even that level was lower that during Kennedy's spending. Reagan's problem was the Democrat control of both the House and the Senate and the double digit increases in the "war on poverty"
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I know Cato is a radical libertarian group, but you know it's not a "gov't takeover." At the very least tell the truth, no matter how bad the bill is. Otherwise we come off looking like jackasses.
Not a government takeover? The Federal government is going to tell insurance companies who they must accept as customers (outlaw pre-existing conditions), how much they are allowed to charge them (community ratings), and what benefits must legally be provided (essential benefits package provisions). Plus, they are going to tell us what type of insurance we are required to own
Boaz is right. The democrats were never elected on their ideas. They were only elected, because the republicans in power were running the nation into the ground with increased spending, more entitlements and bigger government all around. The democrats have been doing the same, but in overdrive.

It's not Kennedy's seat, it's the people's seat. Kennedy is dead. He was a blue-blood, privilaged drunk driver. Let's look forward and move on.

I like Boaz a LOT.
Yay, Cato!
Brown is a RINO. He is NOT a fiscal conservative. At least that is what his voting record in MA shows.
He helped design Romneycare for gosh sakes!
Seldom voted for a tax reduction. Seldom voted against a spending increase.
I hope he sticks to his campaign pledge to vote no on health care reform. What if he is a socialist plant!!!?

Hit the website for the centerforsmallgovernmentDOTcom.
Click on the link that starts:
"Conclusion: Warning to Tea Party Activists..."
Skip the text on this page and go to the bottom and click on each of the two links "Part 1 Warning..." and "Part 2 Warning..."
These list the center's reasons for calling Brown a big government supporter.
That's all I know about his record, and I trust the folks at the Center for Small Govt.

Brown is really an independent. Although, his views on many issues are right of center. A refreshing break from Ted Kennedy. I hope!

Any politician that has even rubbed elbows with Obama has a stench on them, and because of that stench will be soundly defeated.
Not only Massachusetts, but all of America has awaken.

Why would a career politician adopt views that will reduce his power?

Because the politician should be a servant to the people not to his/her own agenda. Government is suppose to serve the people. Not dictate its citizens. Government is the servant and the people it's master.
