  • It's a sarlacc pit!

  • The thing just stood there waiting to be blasted by a dynamite.

  • @Saturn867 Remember, this is the second time it confronted humans, and humans are all different, so it never really knew how to adapt and how to attack the humans

  • I think the creatures in red dwarf were loosely based on the thing

  • when he turned on the light i said : " o seriously he will go there with that little shit ? "

  • cool

  • i swear, he had the stupidest looking hat

  • @13neirad Pimpest hat ever. It's like real-life Yosemite Sam - amazing.

  • 1:05 Oh, shit! I never noticed the human head attached to the rear of the beast's skull. Nice.

  • I was walking down the street earlier today and one of my neighbors dogs started barking at me and I said, " Yeah, Fuck You Too!!" the same way Mac just said it. When I did that it reminded me of this. Great Movie!!

  • Monster: rawrroarrawr u2 rocks!

    Kurt Russel: Yeah? Fuck u2!!!!

  • ... That's it?

  • we are the thing assuming direct control of this form

  • How can it move so fast and not even trying to attack McReady ?

  • @GamerHDP because it absorbed one of the dogs :L

  • we are thing and you are be assimilated daleks style we would kill humanity with one cell this inst war this is body control

  • What the fuck, that ain't dynamite. That's a fucking atom bomb. Dynamite my ass.

  • @ShizzlinJizzlin The place was filled with dynamite.

  • @ShizzlinJizzlin Well, they did rig the entire place with explosives. Chain reaction much?

  • Why did it just stand there growling instead of grabbing McReady?

  • NOPE... INCOMPLETE. The best part is when MacReady meets up with Childs in the end and starts pounding back J & B.

  • The thing probably said fuck you in whatever weird alien language it´s speaking

  • Hmmmm...I kinda think the last creature was kind a let down. I can't place my finger on it, but it just seems to lack the originality of the other transformed bodies.

  • @animehobo Originally it was just going to look like blair with a worm-like body and the dog monster crawling out with tentacles flailing around and nauls was suppose to be joined at the tail end of the thing.

  • @animehobo I might have the answer good sir. With this thing we see human and dog parts. " main sections of it are easilly recognised as dogs. Its using more teeth than any of the last and we dont really see mobility from this particular thing. Its either because we can see it cant move or because we start to see signs of desperation from this thing. Hope this is the answer your looking for.

  • @hoosmyster I agree. I think the reason why this form isn't as scary as the others is because it is completely alien, whereas it was far more horrific to see the horribly transformed bodies of former characters.

  • @soggycloth It might be the transformation itself, this one we recognise most body parts and most of the different 3 main segments maintained a body, lets take the guy who needed chest paddles for example. His stomach opened to having teeth then spewing tentacles. To see a kinda double whammy thing catches its audience by surprise but this one just kinda goes all out right off the bat. Thanks for the reply btw

  • @animehobo that things freakin scary, but i agree

  • Best Thing creature of all, it's very sad that JC couldn't make this scene like how he wanted to make it. I saw the script and the creature was suppose to smash 2 times with his tentacles. Also Naul's death was suppose to be in the movie but wasn't filmed because of lack on money and time

  • Leave it to one of the Oakridge Boys to exterminate an alien menace.

  • Nah, they weren`t wierdos at all, just very good at thinking `What if a horrible alien came form earth and attacked Humans in the most horrible way possible?`

then they made it happen. Any film maker or story writer has to be able to think creatively like this.

  • @seafireliv i thought they were weird because they liked making violent gross scenes. but i guess they have to to make them

  • Both the special effects in this one and the new are the best I've ever scene.

  • That was SO not questionable...

  • WHY DOES IT HAVE SO MANY TEETH :'3

  • @seafireliv one scream sounds like a chicken

  • Is this an R rated movie?

  • What ever happened to Nauls? ive seen the scripted.. but wish theyd have filmed it!

  • @cuddlesnstinker he walked off and left macready. probably died when the base got blown up.

  • @100mmatte No. the Thing got him. But you gotta watch the film from the start.

  • @seafireliv no wait, but i saw a scene where the explorers visit the burnt base. so the scene had to be at the beginning. idk i jus scrolled through channels and saw thescene.then watched something else.came back to the channel and it was the scene where they visit the burnt place

  • @100mmatte

Go and watch the full film. Buy it or rent the DVD. The way you`re watching it in bits on utube is confusing you. This is not the burnt Norwegian camp. This is their American camp they burnt to try and destroy the Thing later on. This clip here is at the end of the film, everything else happens before.

  • @seafireliv ohhh i get it all now. the norris and palmer scenes r freaky as hell.

  • @100mmatte Yep, scared me when I first saw it. the dog scene is pretty horrendous too.

  • @seafireliv the dog scene wasnt too bad, although i hate it when dogs die. it makesme sad. but the norrisand palmer sceneswereterrifying. especially when that guy got his arms chewed off, and when that guy got his head snatchd.

  • @100mmatte What amazed me at the time was how they got his head to fall off the table and still get it moving its face in pain- All that had me scared for weeks.

  • @seafireliv the people that made this movie were weirdos, but i'm impressed. and the head spider thing wasnt too scary. but seeing the head get removed was

  • Yeah fuck youtube

  • No one else could deliver that line as perfectly as he could.

  • the the movie "The Thing" reminds me of a old game called "Metroid fusion"

  • i liked the prequel lol

  • Best response to an eldritch abomination ever.

  • What is the thing?

  • @atom608 Alien life form that consumes other life forms and then imitates them.

  • We are the Thing. You will be assimilated.

  • @TheWabbajackX Scarface: not if my little friend here has anything to say about it!

*blows up Thing with grenade launcher*

  • What a fucking kick ass movie. I'm serious! I absolutely love this movie. 9.5/10. Just my opinion though.

  • It seems too big to be made of those 3 guys. Blair absorbed 2 guys, right? This thing(pun) looks 1000 lbs.

  • @marky2112

Yeah... it's an alien so I guess it's capable of creating itself out of basically nothing. Another example of this is when MacReady takes the hot poker to the little puddle of blood, and a massive arm jumps out of the plastic tray. Doesn't really make sense :)

  • @lundell100 It`s not a massive arm, just it`s blood jumping up in one great motion. think like a puddle jumping up like a sheet of paper. later we see it runs away like a puddle again.

Come to think of it, did they ever torch that running away blood? Or did they forget about it?

  • @seafireliv

Or worse: What if there was burnt tissue left over from The Thing that somehow managed to hitch a ride on whoever investigated the remains of the arctic base? If it did, it would claim even more victims and spread to more highly populated areas in order to collect more biomass. And then....Maybe it's best not to think about it.

  • untill someone else said this i never realised that the left side of the monsters face is actually blairs at 1:05

  • thatssssss a very nisssssee alien you have there.......... it's be a sssssssshhhame im something were to happen to it....

  • that alien needs a dentist

  • I bet that rattling sound effect is made from a cicada.........thumbs up if you agree

  • The people saying how the ship goes crazy and crashs because they think "The Thing" is just a random lone parasite or virus that attacked the creature flying the ship thus starting all this is right. I just wish I knew where the parasite actually came from and how the alien that got infected acted. Obiviously not as well as the other guys :P

  • oh yeah copyrights?

    fuck youtube

  • Jumping into a solid wall, thats (quack) ing smart!

  • The Thing : " Yaar yeear rawr roargh U2 rocks!!!"

Kurt Russel: " Yea?? FUCK U2!!!!!"

  • @Androandroandrica lmfao xD nice joke xDDD

  • @Androandroandrica hahaha good one

  • @Androandroandrica you sir win an internetz

  • @Androandroandrica does macready know that monster was blair??

  • @100mmatte I think he would`ve pretty much guessed it was Blair and also his two friends that were with him too.

  • things like this always makes my nipples hard

  • Kurt Russel is badass

  • lol 1:14..."damnit i wish i didnt shoot old yeller...should have just put him down"

  • i think that was the part of the dog creature that escaped into the ceiling earlier.

  • I wonder how the THING's civilization would look like. Would each thing be different or would they have a TRUE form like the one from from the spaceship? Also how can something so that has blood naturally dripping from it and so much split openings be so smart and successful to come to Earth!??!

  • @DerpinWin

Maybe it doesn't have a civilization, but was a rogue passenger to another civilization's ship.....it seems like maybe in the beginning the ship wobbles out of control from an attack? Ominous.....

  • @AceofDlamonds You know what i think? I don't think the Thing is even a creature. It could be just extraterrestrial virus-cells that have a "mind" of their own. They absorb and imitate other cells make the host a shape shifting alien creature which has no limited possibility in what it can turn into. The one they found on the ship may just be an alien host the THING invaded into to. Their civilization wouldn't be identical due to its different transformations but they know one from another.

  • @DerpinWin

Well "creature" doesn't really have a unambiguous denotation of its own, but I guess you're idea of it is fairly accurate.

Yes the one from the ship is, in my opinion, better suited as a member of another civilization who got owned by the thing before they reached Earth.

I wouldn't even say the "thing" is made of cells or even a VIRUS! Although virus is the closest term we have to describe it. It may not originally had cells......who's to say cells even exist outside of Earth.

  • @AceofDlamonds We cannot come to a correct conclusion unless the creator of the idea behind the THING says anything about such topic. Another question may be if the THING stores all knowledge of its host in order to survive since it probably did to fly the spaceship but failed somewhere and crashed down.

  • @DerpinWin

Sure, and call me obsessed but over the past 2 years I have studied this film in detail, grabbing every bit of director's knowledge I could find. He wants the audience to be the primary observers and concluders. We can conclude things based upon what the film provides and what the actors hint at us.

  • @AceofDlamonds If only I had the time to do the same as you because I am also obsessed with such alien life-form. Anyways we sure have came to many conclusions which makes the viewers hooked to the movie.

  • @AceofDlamonds As a kid i was stuck on the ending "I thought i saw Blair, went after him and got lost in the storm" yea right and you found your way back just to tell me that. (i would like to think that they got rid of it and survived in one peace) but then perhaps when Child's says "did u kill it" he was referring to it being the human MacReady, and they both know that they are both the thing. Who really knows? that s the genius of films like this, the speculation is infinite.

  • @taitoimpact

interesting observation. Although there would be a major plot hole if MAcready was the thing, so it's heavily taken that Mac is the only survivor and he even says "where were you Childs!?" with a peculiar gaze in his eyes, indicating suspicion. I think we ought to look with Mac's eyes in this case. =)

  • @AceofDlamonds There wouldn't be a plot hole if the thing some how got to Mac after the explosion, (i think thats what lingered in our minds in the end. If Mac really thought Childs was different to him (or a threat) i cant see him just giving up like that. not after all he went through.

  • @taitoimpact

I highly doubt that. The way this thing was filmed (no pun intended) was largely in Mac's POV. It might as well show him at the end ready to die.....there was no time at all for the thing to assimilate Mac at the end. After the "fuck you too!" line he runs like hell and there's the great explosions....then we see Mac walking the ruins in the bleak landscape. Just look at the flow of the script. And Mac's suspicion of Childs "where were you Childs!?"

  • John Carpenter is old school man, he's not like the other directors who plan each scene on a different day this last scene from "the thing" is the actual and last day they ever shot of "the thing" and you can tell it was like a last minute boom but it worked! I miss the old Carpenter!

  • @JohnMaynes213

Not really. They shot the scenes in the Nors Camp (when MacReady and the Doc discover the splitface) using the destroyed setting of the american camp in order to save money. So the boom was not the last scene shot.

  • why did it just sit there after coming out completely, instead of attacking Macready?

  • @Boogung This scene with the monster was originally going to be slightly longer. The dog in the chest was supposed to jump out (though still connected to the main body by an umbilical cord) and go after the main character. If you buy the old dvd of this movie, you can see the unused footage. The reason why it was cut was because the extended footage used stop-motion animation, and the director saw the animation being too unrealistic.

The artwork that was created for it is CREEPY though.

  • @elvampe13 I'm glad they didn't do that. That would mean MacReady would have waited like an idiot before throwing the dynamite to let The Thing attack him. People look at this scene the wrong way. The Thing attacked to get the plunger to the explosives and was unleashing the dog to finish off MacReady, it didn't anticipate MacReady would have a dynamite stick at the ready. It shows just how smart and strategic a person MacReady is.

  • These old school special effects blow the crap out of the new movie! CGI is trash in comparison.

  • @rippedlampshade oh ok. Now I see it.

  • Was that Blair?

  • @DrJonathanMM If you look to the side of the giant monster cheek you can see his face

  • They actually got away with saying "Fuck You to" on network television!!! CBS to be exact!!!

  • @panostsak you took the word right out of my mouth!! I love this movie!! :)

  • At 1:11 why is there a dog thing coming out of he blair monster? I've just been curious as to the significance and reasoning behind that...

  • @Jcc722

After the dog-thing killed off the other dogs, there was still one more dog left alive. Blaire was running tests through the dog with Clark in the room, asking Clark how long he was with the dog. And there was a dog on the ground breathing and being tested.

Remember? That was the only dog remaining and obviously assimilated into the Blair-thing

  • @Jcc722

Then when Clark went nuts, and killed the dog. Most people think Clark is infected when he went through this stage, so he could of infected the dog when killing it. Blood contamination?

    Idk, just a guess.

  • LOL at the end "search by Popular Occasion: LUNCH."

    :D

  • Kurt Russell = BOSS

  • LOL! I love that line! It was so necessary to say hahaha

  • 1:38 im surprised some1 hasnt made a WTF boom! with this

  • The prequel to this film is trash through and through. The only thing and I mean only thing good it added was that The Thing cannot replicate none organic material so if someone has anything none organic in them, plates, fillings etc then it spits them out and you can tell who is an alien because that person no longer has any metal in them

  • @Colton5 Yeah but it "Show me your fillings!" Didn't have the same suspense as the blood testing. It was just...oh...cool he has good teeth, very white. Good work. NEXT!

  • @applepie231 exactly.

  • @applepie231 i guess i didnt hit u that, that scene of the new film was VERY suspenseful (it was a letdown tho) imagine staring down the maw of something that inhuman, just craving for blood

  • @applepie231 it didnt hit u@

  • @applepie231 it kinda did because I was expecting something to come out of their mouths when they were opening them

  • @Colton5

What if I had perfect teeth and never had to get fillings? hmmm =)

  • @Kamissick they addressed that in the movie too haha

  • @Colton5

    Addressed what?

  • @Kamissick Some people in the movie didn't have filings and said "So I'm gonna die cuz I have good teeth?"

  • @DerpinWin yeah well they didnt get very far with that test

  • @TaintedPrinceps It only eliminated the people who had inorganic parts in them.

  • @DerpinWin huh? no it didnt

  • "yeah! Fuck u too!"

  • Personally, I think MacReady should have said, "Happy Bdy Badya Birthday you you you Thing from another world you" as he throws the stick. Followed by the Thing saying "Ohhhhh Thank you" then Boom! :)

  • @JMChladek Good thing you didn't write the movie then

  • why is everyone saying the 2011 thing is a remake ..its a prequel

  • So, it can move super fast, yet decides to just stand right there and stares as the dynamite explodes? Weird!

  • @Sumuois maybe it diddnt actually know what bomb does, but heck it has assimilated other people so the thing should have an idea what would happen but hey, what's done is done..

  • @Sumuois

A lot of analyzers suggest that it was a psychological attack on MacCready.. a distraction.....kind of like the Norris chest monster......because you see Blair's body and a grotesque monster mouth protruding from it........I'd probably faint if this was real. But you see, Mac is strong and has the will to live.

  • Saw The Thing 2011 when it came out and I gotta say, it is very good. But this is still the best Thing. CGI is great, but this stuff is amazing!

  • @Nikki1292 is it good and scary

  • One of my favorite lines in movie history.

  • well whatever u have your opinon and i have mine weather its prequel, sequel.or a remake its really doesnt matter but thanx for your opinon away

  • i garantee u its the movie there is nothing diffrent about the 2011 the thing the only diffirence is that there was no female on the 1982 the thing so if u notice the exact samething that i notice in that movie is still the same only with or without the girl to me i think that movie was a waste of film thats my opinon oh wow its been 29 years and your telling me the movie is different because of the distance of the years interesting lol

  • i garantee u its the movie there is nothing diffrent about the 2011 the thing the only diffirence is that there was no female on the 1982 the thing so if u notice the exact samething that i notice in that movie is still the same only with or without the girl to me i think that movie was a waste of film thats my opinon

  • @98zombielover the 2011 one is the "prequel" , not a remake

  • the first time I saw this scene I cracked up.

  • Now THAT is what an end-of-level-boss should look like!!!!

  • @nummulite99 you and me both lol

  • 1:33 to 1:36 Best. Line. EEEEEVVVVVEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!!!

  • 0:42, Macready! Jumping into a metal drum wont save you!

  • lol i have this as my profile pic on facebook

  • the thing 2011 is just a remake of the 1982 movie the thing i think its stupid to remake a movie with the same senrio i wouldnt even waste my time or money to go see that movie but for those who didnt see the 1982 the thing you miss a great movie........thumbsdown to all remakes like nightmare on elm,my bloody vatentine, april fools day and last but least 2011 the thing

  • @98zombielover i think the remake is actually based 3 days before the events of the 1982 film so it is a different film :)

  • @98zombielover Yeah I'm not sure about the remake but I'm goin to see it just because I love the moive back in the day. But it's really dumb how they put a chick in it llol not to be sexiest but they had a chick in 1982

  • @98zombielover

This movie was NOT the original Thing movie, have you forgotten there was a black and white version in 1951? this movie is a remake but a faithful re-adaptation of Who Goes There by John Campbell. The new one is a prequel.

  • ok so in the new thing its problt still a mutanting ballof fleash.

  • The new movie is disappointing by comparison.

  • Lolz... He also should of said "AND FUCK YOUR MARKER!"

  • 1 person is the Thing

  • @Shanethefilmmaker

    there's two now

..it could be you..could be me..

  • @DullVivid Nah, even if I was the thing I would push the like button so no one would suspect me.

  • @Shanethefilmmaker OH NO! MAKE THAT TWO!!! Its infecting others!!!!

  • The creators of dead space must"ve gotten the Necromorph design from this movie.

  • @luckycharmsfurlife - I agree, with all those "throw your spiked hands up in the air" Necromorph model.

  • @luckycharmsfurlife hmm... maybe visceral studio can make this movie into a game!

  • @luckycharmsfurlife There was a design in them?

  • @luckycharmsfurlife get your hands out of my mouth and stop stealing my words >:(

  • @luckycharmsfurlife Actually, the necromorph designs were inspired by this movie. So yeah they did

  • @luckycharmsfurlife Well, obviously :P

  • @luckycharmsfurlife Partially correct actually. They based one Necromorph (the Divider) off the thing. I know that for sure. Other wise i think they got the feeling of hopelessness and destruction from the Thing too

  • @anarcho2narco Which one is the Divider, again? I haven't played Dead Space in GOD KNOWS how long.

  • @luckycharmsfurlife The divider was the tall skinny one that made like wailing noises, and once you did enough damage to it, it's arms, and head+ spinal cord would come apart and start attacking you individually. The death scene is like the head wrapping around your neck and choking you to the point your head falls off and it attaches itself and starts using your body. It's quite brutal actually... haha

  • @anarcho2narco OMG I hate those ones.... ._.
