  • Derry? You mean Tyrone... It even names the places in the full lyrics... Slieve Gall-i-on.

  • @b4u1i1 - I looked it up on google last week (Sleive Gallon) & it showed it as being near Cavan town. Slieve Gallion gave two results, one in Fermanagh, the other west of Lough Neagh - credited as being 'Near Co.Tyrone' lol (when I searched with Tyrone)

  • I'm from Slieve Gallion. It's in Derry. The back of it is in Tyrone. About 90% of it is in Derry, the parishes of Desertmartin, Ballinascreen and Lissan.

  • My great grandfather Robert Ferguson loved this song! He was born in 1845 at Lough Fea, & later lived & raised 11 kids in the Parish of Lissan on a 'parcel of land' in Letteran Road on the lower slopes of Sleive Gallon, before coming to N.Z. in 1913. Astoundingly his granddaughter married in N.Z. a McGarvey who also originated from Sleive Gallon!

Beautiful song...brought tears to my eyes as the tales of Ireland have been passed down to Roberts decendants on the far side of the world!

  • not heard this song before.but its superb as usual Tommy
