I am fucking sick of you people talking about mutants being around Pripyat, I'm only fourteen, and I haven't got much experience with radiations, but I at least know that radiation would rather kill you, not mutate you into some man eating zombie, go and learn.
ive played call of duty 4 and thers a map it got the town and i like this place i would love to go to this place its sad to see a how city gone its sad to see but very nice video man i really want to go and see this place
that is unfathomable how devastating the effects of this disaster were..the fact that 25 years later you had to be cautious of high levels of radioactive components...it appears like a place stopped in time, though its desolate..its preserved by peoples belongings..this is so sad
How can anyone dislike video's like this of disaster? it's almost like approving of disaster's like 9/11 and Chernobyl. My heart goes out to the families of those who lost loved ones and the haters.
my teacher had said that schoolrooms looked exactly like they did when the city had to evacuate and she also said that there was a carnival that is still there there even today just wanting to know some more information
It will be great times when pripyat is habbitable lots of people will be sad and not want to go from to many memories of theyre family members that used to live there when they werent born
@onemattsmith I am not also interested about finding out about the actual radiation levels in person by visiting the site. I also believe that there is a high probability that there are toxic metals, dusts and byproducts that were produced due to the fire, liquidaton and containment of Reactor 4. I feel that these toxins are still in the environment in and around Chernobyl and visitors are being exposed to that danger also.
@onemattsmith what's up with the sarcasm? I was only curious. Secondly, if I were to get an X-Ray, it would be necessary for me to be exposed to radiation for the sake of my health and it would only be for a few seconds about two or three 10 second intervals. I don't know how a transatlantic flight would expose me to higher levels of radiation? But purposefully exposing yourself to radiation to visit a nuclear disaster site does not seem like a good idea.
I was inadverdantly redirected to this site. I am curious. Why would anyone want to visit this place? You would not catch me anywhere near this place! Radiation is nothing to toy with!
Incredible video, well done for make this. It's incredibly amazing and sad to see this real life example of what happens when a city is abandoned for 25 years..
Really amazing video. Most of us think of this part of the world due to video games, but you actually walked the buildings and saw it first hand. Thank you for sharing it, it's very haunting.
Very beautiful video i gonna make a trip to Chernobyl/Pripyat later and visit. Is it vorth the money? Cause am a big fan of the Stalker games and want to visit.
@jonasv19 Unlike what movies and games show you, there aren't massive explosions when nuclear power plants(NPP) fail. What you're seeing is 25 years of abandonment and wilderness reclamation. Basically the buildings are falling apart because there is no one who takes care of them.
Wow what a beautiful place know it seems so weard not to see anything happening for such a big city it is amazing how destructive MAN can be to our suroundings My heart go's out to the people who lived there and aney where in the area it must have ben horrible to experience anything of that magnatude.
@MrQc2010 You can only visit with an official tour, i used Solo East ( Google them ) They then submit your details to the Ukrainian government and they have the final say which is always yes as they want the money. You will not get passed the the 30km zone without having these in place,
I have been there three times for research reasons and have to say you filmed this very well. The music (Sigur ros) helps make it more powerful. remember the people who are still suffering, not just ukranians but Belarusians along with Russians. Truly terrible part of russian history in another countries back yard and all only an hour or so from Kiev. Respect
This video is so interesting. Those gas mask's lying all over the floor really captures how bad the accident was. Did you take any thing home? Or did you refuse to take or touch anything?
@SnazzellFilms thank you, i didn't take anything home with me. The risk is too high plus the scanners might have picked it up when leaving the last check point. Ukrainians with guns don't have a sense of humour. The only thing that touched the floor was my tripod and my shoes which were binned.
I have some questions to ask. I really do not understand. How was radiation created. What does it feel like? How did it feel there? If we can create radiation why can we not get rid of it. Why not find a different source then radiation. If you go there can you visit anyplace? If you go there can you possible get cancer. With a suit? What about the car did it get radiation on it? Can Radiation move?
@DubstepBoyy Radiation is produced by radio active atoms like alpha, beta particles and gamma rays. Radiation is necessary for all types of life to survive on earth. You cannot feel it but people who were there when it happened said you could taste iron. Yes it moves, it was Sweden that sounded the alarm after they picked up the radiation in the air, many countries were affected because Russia was hiding it from the world. Certain places are off limits, you have a solider with you.
@onemattsmith Radiation is everywhere, where you are sitting now there is radiation just the limits are safe. An 8 hour visit to Chernobyl as long as you do as you're told and don't start digging up the soil, etc... exposes you to about the same as you would get from an x-ray. You and the car are checked at the final check point for radiation, you have to step into a machine that scans you.
The thing I notice, is that people were told NOT to take possessions because of contamination and they all left on buses. It is so clearly obvious that this town has been systemically Looted over and over again. If I went to a Garage sale in Russia, I'd take a Geiger counter.
Thank you so much for all your great comments, It was a very enjoyable trip and will be returning April 2012 for anther 3 day visit. I am still healthy as is everyone else who was on the trip, some friends had been the previous year and now have a healthy child. The radiation exposure is fine for short visits, they say you receive more radiation from a transatlantic flight.
@onemattsmith wish you have made comments on what you saw there I was just a kid when this happen now im married and im 31 people should be strong who leaved there and rebuild the city back in a another location
I would love to see all your footage if you have it. not just the neatly edited video like to see the raw footage with original sound. I will sub if you can thanks.
@odeseus77 Japan is sad, but it doesn't come close the devastation Chernobyl had. Three mile island in USA is another terrible nuclear accident which could have gone real bad real fast.
@skierdude95 Futaba was evacuated due to 90% of it being destroyed by the tsunami. Yes it falls into the exclusion zone but only had a population of 7,406. The Radiation that escaped from Japan was only 2% of what escaped from Chernobyl.
Jesus, its frightening to think of what humans are capable of doing to our mother earth, i was 10 years old when this happened and Im still struggling to comprehend it.
all the gas masks at 5:20 are kinda creepy...i was only 7 when this happened...been catching up on history during my childhood...there was a movie from the bbc out that i watched on this and it was all caused because of ignorance...so many lives destroyed...RIP Pripyat
Nothing but sadness all around and the spirits of those who lived there. I wouldn't be suprised if there anything paranormal there, such as unusual noises. I do plan to go there someday, but what are the procedures to getting in?
Not many people know about the four men who volunteered to do a suicide dive in order to prevent this disaster from becoming much worse... God Bless them...
@oShakeNBake - God bless all the men who gave their lives (knowingly or not) to stop this disaster from getting worse. Many died painful deaths to cancer. It really is tragic, all those lives lost.

@Tuan1092 This is based on how much dust is "poured" over the land to "sink" the radioactive elements on the ground, 600 years.
