Well I was 6541 (Aviation Ordnance Technician) in the USMC from 1998-2006, so I don't know how well certain career fields can be applied to working for the police. They are more strict in their physical and ASVAB requirements than the Army, but you can only go through boot camp one time nowadays, so don't screw up. Now you can be an MP in the USMC, that would really help in starting your career in police work. I'd suggest doing a term of active duty rather than starting with the reserves.

My father faught for our country in Vietnam in the Marines, you don't learn to LOVE killing, you learn to TRY to live with it while doing it and a lot of Marines have a very hard time living with it even if it's neccessary. My dad did some killing in his tour in Vietnam and he doesn't feel good about it at all. That's why you hear about PTSD when soldiers come home from duty.

Marines are trained to kill, yes that's right and i get that but they are also trained to recognize who is the enemy and who is friendly. They know what to look out for that is harmful for them. Well I was 6541 (Aviation Ordnance Technician) in the USMC from 1998-2006, so I don't know how well certain career fields can be applied to working for the police. They are more strict in their physical and ASVAB requirements than the Army, but you can only go through boot camp one time nowadays, so don't screw up. Now you can be an MP in the USMC, that would really help in starting your career in police work. I'd suggest doing a term of active duty rather than starting with the reserves.
