Watched a programme on nat geo last night. It said wtc was built to withstand multiple plane attacks. Imagine a piece of metal mesh if you puntcure it with a pencil. What happens? Just a hole. @isokessu the building was SPECIFICALLY built to withstand a plane crashing into it. if a collapse were to happen only the top of the building would have collapsed and the collapse would favor the side of the building where the plane hit. a pancake collapse would only be possible if their were precise cuts in the steel equidistant from one another cut simultaneously to bring the top crashing down evenly into its footprint

Theoretically they would resist the kind of impact the specific cases the engineers predicted and analyzed 50 years ago, but then you have construction errors, fatigue (considering that the buildings would sway up to half a meter or so), cracked concrete and so on. There is virtually no way to ensure that a complete building will react exactly as intended, even with modern equipment and structural analysis.
I knew that at some point some bitch is gonna say that steel is stronger than wood but it's not true. Wood is actually better against fire than steel, of course fire can spread through wood and not through metal but iron or steel is VERY weak against fire because it gets softer but wood doesn't get soft. Some metal structure buildings which has had fires didn't collapse only because they had concrete shield, wtc towers had just few cm thin concrete shields (and maybe more oxygen for the fire)
@isokessu so the steel got softer. this takes time! we wouldn't expect the steel to instantly soften bringing the top ten floors crashing down. common sense tells you that steel softens slowly so the two floors affected by the fire would fall slowly not having enough force to bring the building down. nice try though
@Dustencumbie At 400 celcius the steel has lost about half it strength, that doesn't take much time at all, considered steel has high heat conductivity. On top of that such heat will cause great additional strain on steel members and connections. I mean, there are so many factors involved here that the engineers can't predict 100% correctly. On the other side, how much explosive would be needed to bring down a building of this size, time to prepare, testing charges and so forth? Get real.

UM well Steel melts at 2500 F not 2750 F that's iron and just to weaken steel u need about 900 degrees F i know this cause I'm an architectural engineer.

I believe the Twin Towers were a deviation of standard skyscraper construction in that they did not have a concrete core. That may be the very cause of their collapse on 911. It seems to me that this innovative design failed its first and only test.

That is why all three of these buildings collapsed. Fearing collapse, fire department officials gave the order to pull out of building 7. They saw indications that the structure was failing. In controlled demolition, a series of small. rapid explosions are heard as the charges are detonated? No such sound at the WTC.

If Larry silverstein wasn't involved in the 9/11 plot then it has got to be one of the biggest coincidences of all time that he purchased the WTC complex 3 months before 9/11 and immediately took out a MASSAVE insurance policy against an act of terrorism. Additionally the WTC complex was demolished and cleared, from a monetary stand point, for little to nothing. So it is, in effect, building a ~$11b ($3.2b for the complex, ~$1b for demo and clear, $7b for the rebuild) building for $5.65b. I'd say he made off pretty damn well.

There are a lot of little factors, both shown in this documentary and a few others I've seen, that have led me to make my decision. I'm sorry, but personally, I think it was a conspiracy. An independent group of civil engineers isn't going to change my mind, considering there is substantial evidence showing that there is no way the impact OR the fire could have caused the collapse.

As far as I know, although the building WT7 also was damaged by the impact of debris of the two towers, its structure was more or less intact, even after the WTC towers coming down. This is indeed the most intruiging argument for a conspiracy that calls for a more extensive research, if this is possible at all, after now 9 years.

From what I can see, the building was pretty much destroyed. 911truth (dot) org is another site that I found a lot of information on. No matter which one of us is right, the attacks were terrible and should never have happened.

@polish77styles yes, a plane did crash into the buildings, a plane smaller than what it was designed to withstand, most of the fuel was burned on the trip over there and in the initial explosion, what was left was just a few floors taken out and burning. the structure is like a giant steel net, a grid when looking from the top down, it was designed that way so that it wouldn't fall down. that impact was much weaker than the onslaught of hurricanes it has endured

In addition to thermite, thermate also contains sulfur and sometimes barium nitrate, either of which increase its thermal effect. Barium Nitrate does not HAVE to be present when there is sulfur.

If U.S. Military Thermate was used, YES IT DOES, Barium Nitrate is as an oxidizer in TH3, if there is no Barium Nitrate, then you cannot say it was the U.S. Military who did this, because it's not their weapon.
Sulfur can be produced by items within the building, it's not a thermite sample, and it doesn't prove its use.
Barium Nitrate and Aluminum are the MAJORITY by product, if you cannot find them, it's rather odd you'd find other chemicals that make up only 3% of the reaction.

Further, after the "initial" collapse, over 40 floors of one of the buildings was still standing.

Explosion broke the concrete, fire made steel just little bit softer to weaken it, wtc towers were built very fast in a hurry so it would be possible that few parts aren't perfectly welded and nobody ever said that fire did that 8:08 ..it was gravity of course, every single skyscraper can easily handle force of Earths gravity but not many of them can when parts of the core snaps out. Only few 21 century skyscrapers don't crash from huge plane hitting them with high speed

@isokessu the building was SPECIFICALLY built to withstand a plane crashing into it. if a collapse were to happen only the top of the building would have collapsed and the collapse would favor the side of the building where the plane hit. a pancake collapse would only be possible if their were precise cuts in the steel equidistant from one another cut simultaneously to bring the top crashing down evenly into its footprint

Theoretically they would resist the kind of impact the specific cases the engineers predicted and analyzed 50 years ago, but then you have construction errors, fatigue (considering that the buildings would sway up to half a meter or so), cracked concrete and so on. There is virtually no way to ensure that a complete building will react exactly as intended, even with modern equipment and structural analysis.

I knew that at some point some bitch is gonna say that steel is stronger than wood but it's not true. Wood is actually better against fire than steel, of course fire can spread through wood and not through metal but iron or steel is VERY weak against fire because it gets softer but wood doesn't get soft. Some metal structure buildings which has had fires didn't collapse only because they had concrete shield, wtc towers had just few cm thin concrete shields (and maybe more oxygen for the fire)

On top of that such heat will cause great additional strain on steel members and connections. I mean, there are so many factors involved here that the engineers can't predict 100% correctly. On the other side, how much explosive would be needed to bring down a building of this size, time to prepare, testing charges and so forth? Get real.

I agree with most of this, except that it says that red orange flames are characteristic of a dirty, or uncontrolled fire. However, my boyfriend used to work in the Steel mills in Omaha, NE. back in the 1970s and I can tell you from seeing it myself that the melted metal in those big huge melting pots is glowing red/orange as well. And the film here says that a Steel mill is a CONTROLLED fire environment. Which it is. So red orange doesnt necessarily mean an uncontrolled fire environment.

I believe the Twin Towers were a deviation of standard skyscraper construction in that they did not have a concrete core. That may be the very cause of their collapse on 911. It seems to me that this innovative design failed its first and only test.

That is why all three of these buildings collapsed. Fearing collapse, fire department officials gave the order to pull out of building 7. They saw indications that the structure was failing. In controlled demolition, a series of small. rapid explosions are heard as the charges are detonated? No such sound at the WTC.

@vogonuts That's a very linear way of looking at it. He spent $3.2b on the complex and got $4.55b (as per Forbes, Gothomist, Times, etc.) in the resultant insurance pay out. Additionally the WTC complex was demolished and cleared, from a monetary stand point, for little to nothing. So it is, in effect, building a ~$11b ($3.2b for the complex, ~$1b for demo and clear, $7b for the rebuild) building for $5.65b. I'd say he made off pretty damn well.

yep, 2 things that suggest 9/11 was an inside job, 1, THE UNEXPLAINED (small fires bringing down massave buildings, WTC7 collapsing unexplicably, no evidence of a plane at the pentagon or in pennslyvania, hijackers turning up alive after 9/11, cell phone usage at out of range altitude, Rumsfeld's protocol switch in mid 2001 for scrambling fighter jets to off course jetliners) & 2, THE MOTIVATION that you mention for carrying out the attacks. 2 many smoking guns.

There are a lot of little factors, both shown in this documentary and a few others I've seen, that have led me to make my decision. I'm sorry, but personally, I think it was a conspiracy. An independent group of civil engineers isn't going to change my mind, considering there is substantial evidence showing that there is no way the impact OR the fire could have caused the collapse.

To believe that it was a conspiracy simply isn't enough. Either you have facts and evidence or you simply cannot make a judgement. A judge doesn't sentence so on his beliefs, but based on evidence that is not given here. On the contrary, you have a report of civil engineers that say that the claims of the 911 truthers are not founded at all.

As far as I know, although the building WT7 also was damaged by the impact of debris of the two towers, its structure was more or less intact, even after the WTC towers coming down. This is indeed the most intruiging argument for a conspiracy that calls for a more extensive research, if this is possible at all, after now 9 years.

From what I can see, the building was pretty much destroyed. 911truth (dot) org is another site that I found a lot of information on. I'm not telling you to change your thoughts, I don't think either of us can totally prove our opinion, but I recommend looking at the website if you haven't, even if just because it's interesting. No matter which one of us is right, the attacks were terrible and should never have happened.

I watched this conspiracy theory video thinking there might be something concrete and solid proof and theory here but as again, just pure speculations which would suffice a mediocre thinker to believe in and the so so scientific infos are elementary, "would fire have the strength to eject huge chunk of metals?" my ans - yes. so far till part2 not satisfied at all - disappointed, I think I know were this is video heading. Basically an explosive is used to render matter both solid and liquid into a gas. A propellant is matter: solid, liquid, or gas used to propel something. Used properly, a propellant creates thrust to push airplanes, rockets, cars.
Propellants are not used in the demolition of buildings. There's not enough energy to perform such a function. This is why explosives are used quite often and cheaply. Explosives like TNT, are used strategically to separate solid steel cores.

Now, granted the difference between propellant and an explosive are prevalent. But both have a commonality. The ability to move objects. A propellant is used for the purpose of efficiency of travel. An explosive is normally used on a stationary object. As the explosion occurs, it disentegrates, propelling the existing mass up and out of the position.

Wood is organic. It contains sap which heats and is rendered to gas causing an explosion. Steel is not organic and does not contain any flammable material.
