You can not both be a fiscal conservative and want to be the world's policeman or build an empire with bases in most of the other nations of the world as we are doing now. Our occupation of other nations is the real reason why so many foreigners hate us and want to attack us. We are propping up the dictators that oppress them! End all foreign aid. US out of UN. UN out of US. Strong defense of the 50 states. Let the Muslims kill each other or better yet, make peace.

People are so wrong on Paul, he is the furthest thing from soft when it comes to security.

With him wars means war. If we are going to fight you, we will do it quickly and mightily. Build weapons, use the weapons, return home, and continue with life. None of this occupation and nation building nonsense. Destroy a declared enemy (by Congress not a President Paul) and win the war.

It is hypocritical to say that you are against big government but for big government militarism. I used to be a typical conservative, I would be skeptical about what the government told me regarding social issues but would eat up everything they told me about foreign issues. Then I realized the contradictions and became a libertarian.

We've cancelled numerous, badly needed procurements (XM8, EFV, F-22, among others), the MIC is not in charge of our foreign policy

The military takes up only a paltry sum of our GDP. It is not a source of our fiscal problems.

Jefferson and Madison (bigger authorities on the constitution than you will ever be) both launched offensive, overseas, undeclared wars. Iraq and Afghanistan are not unconstitutional.
