@cjaister only thing i can think of is if your using a power supply get an isolated ground suply like voodoo labs power plus 2. If it's making tons of noise on 9v batteries then get a killswitch or something similar for when you are'nt playing.
I have a question, for the weirder sounding fuzz like the one at 4:21 is it still as loud as if you were playing it straight without the pedal? Like would it drastically affect the volume and with a powerful enough amp could it cut through the mix of a live 3 piece band? I love the sound of that "Velcro fuzz" but I don't wanna hit the pedal for a solo then be totally drown out. Thanks
if I have a zvex fuzz factory, which is a pedal that must be first in the chain, and the mxr blue box, that has an octave component, where should I put the mxr blue box? will it tracks well being after the fuzz factory? or will the fuzz factory sounds good after the blue box?
I have an old original and would never get rid of it but for me it's not very useful in a live situation. The sounds you can get are insane but require some pretty diverse settings, and no saves available here. Great great pedal but hard to take advantage of live.
Jezus, I just finished building this thing...this is a seriously f*cked up pedal :)) haha, it's a fuzz/octave up/random number generator/touch responsive/8bit/drone thingie. I love it.
i had exactly the same question before. now i've got both fuzz factory and fuzz face lol. i would say if you love vintage style fuzz or classic rock, then get the fuzz face. fuzz factory is sounded more modern and very diverse and suits more with indie rock sound like sonic youth, pavement or dinosaur jr....
Every time i see someone with a fuzz factory, all they seem to do is use the oscilation for the intro to plug in baby and leave it on for that, i dont see why people would want to get one if its all they use it for? LOL
Yeah sounds awesome. Similar to Fuzzgod 2 but more controlable. I think I'd have to go with the Fuzzprobe version though, it's exactly the same pedal with a metal pad that works like a theremin
is it possible to control the stability through a wah pedal rather than through the knob? This way I can change it while playing!...unluckily I'm not Muse guitarist!:-) Thanks!
This is the Holy Grail of Fuzz pedals today. Also, one of the most unique pedals out there. I have to tell you, I used to hate the fuzz sound, but this one completely converted me and I seriously want one.
@MrJaack it's true bypass. the non-painted versions are the same circuit, just less love went into making them so they price them lower. I've never used mine on stage (too unpredictable in the range of sounds I love most from my Fuzz Factory) but OH MAN it is fun in the studio. My favorite tone matching so far with it is a 2x10" Vox cabinet fueled by a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia, playing a lipstick equipped Silvertone beater guitar.
every tone, that's not whacked out, sounds like a buzz saw, even the lowest drive. I want to like this pedal, but I'm having a hard time w/ these demos.
it's hard to get a good idea of the actual sound quality with youtube demos. there are so many variables that are different when watching (guitar, amp, mic, your sound card, your speakers) they're all different for everyone and they all tweak the sound a bit. these demos offer more insight into the features and controls than the actual sound quality... go try one out somewhere or buy one, try it, and return it if you don't like it. that's what i do...
My girlfriend got me this pedal for Christmas and I thanked her by having sex with her while playing the John Mayer version of "Crossroads" simultaneously.
@HalfBillion - thats gayer than saying Elton John bought you the pedal and you thanked him by having sex with him while watchin the "devil wears prada" simultaneously
hey buddy. your mother bought me this pedal for christmas and i thanked her by fucking her in YOUR bed while playing YOUR John Mayer version of "crossroads" simultaneously!!
@HalfBillion H'mmm.. Something comforting about the fact a guy can play guitar and bang his ass off, but ask him to play and sing?? ... that's damn near impossible!
thanks for the detailed review of this pedal> It has the sounds I crave and will purchase one of these. I have a modded Russian Muff, but this pedal will fill in ALL the other gaps. NICE. I'm actually amazed at the interaction in this box. That Ripping setting is a nice emulation of an odd Cap or blown but barely working tube. So freaking cool..with a metatronix (sp?) type sound.
@lettherebewomenonthe get a cheaper fuzz pedal that has the option of an oscillator, cheaper option would be devi ever disaster fuzz which is like $100
@joed424 haha. I have a Big Muff. This is literally a zillion times better. You can pretty much create every fuzz tone ever, plus a load of crazy oscillations.
these zvex pedals are all just so different. you can get literally any fuzz tone from this pedal, and they actually bring something new rather than re-hash other pedals
they are all very different, all depends on how you wanna sound. I prefer big muffs personally, they are very good for the price, have good sustain and give (in my opinion) the best buzz
