  • NASA uses only Lenovo in outerspace.

  • btw did you notice that the keyboard for these newer version of thinkpads feel weaker and cheaper than the thinkpad of the t400

  • I like showing off those stickers

  • I was given this computer at work back on August 2010, and it was a weird issue with Wireless Conection, you sometimes lose conectivity and you wont be able to get it back on unless restart - (other colleagues have the same issue) - Besides this annoying fact or having a patchcord around, its a pretty good and solid one

  • @hermesmata out of curiosity, did your IT department configure Wi-Fi using Windows Wireless or Lenovo ThinkVantage Access Manager? In the past, ones I notice dropping Wi-Fi like how you decribed are often remedied by using the Lenovo's Wi-Fi manager instead of Windows. I know that sounds lame, but it is what it is...

  • hello thanks for the video i just bought my t410 but he dont have finger print what that mean ?

  • Hey dumb ass macfag fanboy, learn English before you diss the best laptop brand.

  • @putkat you calling me a macfag fanboy with poor English?

  • Most of the teachers in my school use this laptop. I like the look.of this laptop, idk why

  • @5thChairViolist This design basically hasn't really changed over many years and that tells us that the design has been solid and not a fad that goes out of style. I dig too. Although not the most sexiest looking thing ever...

  • Look like it came out of the 90's. The design is outdated.

  • @Scorxcho Lenovo doesnt do Design. Design-whores have to use Apple computers.

  • @Scorxcho And that's why it's a gorgeous piece of hardware.

  • Amazing laptop...now if only they'd make a custom aesthetically pleasing one for me. I like the Matte finish but it just looks too bland. Of course it's probably a trade off for being built like a tank.

  • It's a business machine... so who cares about the stickers?

  • Do you recommend this laptop?

Im an architecture student, and I want to buy this one, but I dont know...

I use Autocad, Revit, 3D studio, Artlantis and Lumion. This computer is good for this programs?

  • @darkcrystalnymph i would think you might want to go with the lenovo thinkpad W520 lol

  • Yes, defenitely a perfect laptop except the position of ctrl button....

  • Hey techgearguy I have a question. I am 2 days away from recieving the t510 I ordered during a awesome sale 2 weeks ago. I got a i560 with 4 gig ram, 320 gig 7200 rpm drive, upgradede wifi to 6200 and the nvidia 310, along with win 7 pro. All for $958 with tax. It is about 200ish more now and a similar t520 is 300 more. Do you think the 2nd gen intel i5 is worth the extra cash? I will be doing djing using serato scratch live and audio editing and mixing using Cubase 5 with a firewire audio crd.

  • i got one of these from school dude for free

  • @TheWatto96 wow...what school gives these away for free?

  • I hate Lenovo so bad the Lenovo G560 laptop trackpad suck big ball . Most of the time i bought Lenovo It was good but, this one product suck big ball so bad i want to slap Lenovo. Stay alway from Lenovo G560 laptop it a warning if you don't want a crappy trackpad.

  • thenoblequran (Ctrl+Enter)

  • Thinking of getting a lenovo thinkpad, but are they too business oriented. I want something fast and high performance not sure if its TOO business oriented though. I'm a student.

  • is it an "Near Perfect Machine"?

  • Christopher Walken reviews laptops?

  • @reverb508

if Christopher Walken was Persian then yes, it would be him reviewing laptops!

  • @rezz110 Are you insinuating I'm a Persian? I 've been called many things but a Persian, I am not.

  • @TechGearGuy

Since you've been called many things, then add that to the list. Don't be offended though as there is nothing to be offended by.

    btw.. Good reviews too. Thanks

  • i love this laptop i have it! [;<33

  • I like the fact that the Thinkpad review video, is made on a Mac in iMovie ;-)

  • Thats a ugly laptop!!!

  • Thanks for this review. I wish connect a LCD HDMI with Displayport, you know how?

  • whats so special about the computer compared to other regular ones?

  • accelerometer

    fingerprint scanner

    multi touch trackpad

push button (or wtf is that lame red dot pointing device?)

    windows 7

    intel core i5

pretty impress me at some point :D

  • OMG! This is the best looking laptop I`ve ever seen! Gorgeous :)

  • i like my g53's stickers....there like badges if anything.

  • why complain about stickers when you easy can fucking remove them..

another shitty gay review. thanks for wasting 8min of my life

  • OMG im used to seeing great reviews for the thinkpads ive had high end dell percision notebooks macbook pros.i have a $3900 clevo gaming notebook 11lbs.at one time or another have all needed a repair the macs battery went out after 1 month.but my 6 year old thinkpad.zero repairs still rock solid and it never leaves my worktruck the stickers come right off i used my fingernail and some orange oil for the residue left behind.

  • why is it so big?

  • Dude! has anyone ever told you, that you sound like Christopher Walkens?

Really you do! are you like his long lost son?

  • in my humble opinion this laptop is a beast of endurance and thougness the only other laptop you can compare with this is a dell latitude you can find a c400 or a thinkpad t42 or earliest mod and still running great thats my people is a perfect example of endurance and thougness.

  • Whats the difference between L412 and T410?

  • Why was the rubber coating on the lid removed?!?!?! Now it feels cheap :(

  • No smart card reader on this one? How are you pleased with the speakers? In your opinion would it be possible to watch movies on this laptop, or the sound is too quiet?

  • good review. agree that the stickers look a bit cheesy but not a big deal...can easily peel them off.

  • thinkpads are great i hav eone tht i have had for as long as i cn remember im 15 wen my desktop brokedown like 3 weeks ago i took this one out n like blew off the dust and it works better than the newer desktop. the laptops are great i have a IBM Thinkpad T20

  • man i was really looking forward to the magnesium roll cage but they removed it wtf...

  • does it survive drop tests?

  • nice review thank

What I wanted to ask is: is this pc quiet enough compared to a macbook or macbook pro?

I mean: can you hear the fan, is it annoying?

it is a critical factor for my decision, thanks

  • FUcking ugly yet, it packs a punch.

i really want one and they have sleek skin design now

  • @sayswai it might be but maybe better than ur ugly laptop!

  • Lenovo's are badass.

  • Strange. I find them ugly yet I want one.

    Very strange.

  • your so right about the stupid PC stickers. I wish they would just put those stickers on the box

  • Lenovo sucks, new stuff sucks

    Old IBM Thinkpad's forever

    I own a T40

  • @DoReMiForever /watch?v=OxsDRI8At4Q&feature=channel go there. It is a new Edge, i have it and look at how tough they STILL ARE.

BTW: You are fortunate to have a T40

  • I hate the position of the Function key.... i always press it instead of pressing the Cltrt key

  • @libyannewking You can swap the position of the keys in BIOS now.

  • 1) How's the boot time?

    2) How thick is the unit (when closed)?

    3) How's the keyboard (flex)?

    4) How's the build quality?

    5) How's the textured track-pad?

Also, would you recommend this laptop? As for a personal need, how would this laptop compare to the X201 or t410s?

If you could answer these questions (written or recorded), I'd be most thankful.

Thank you, i appreciate your time.

  • What video outputs are possible? Is it only with VGA port? Other needs a base station?

  • @asumazilla The laptop itself only has a VGA port and a display port. If you want other things like a DVI port, you will get that from a port replicator or a docking station they put out.

  • @asumazilla DVI and HDMI is available using inexpensive Displayport adapters. For dual external displays you can use an original docking station.

  • 2:53 the USB ports look so weird... Its like its a Hub

  • Peel the effing stickers off if you don't like them, sheesh.

  • @manerac Well clearly it isn't about not knowing how to peel 'em off. It's about why a machine has to come with a bunch of meaningless marketing material blasted all over such a great machine? I've seen worse, but this was to be noticed.

  • @TechGearGuy I believe the stickers are there because Intel et al pays manufacturers to include them. so it is a way to keep costs lower for the end user. Check one of the posts on lenovoblogs I think I saw it there. If you think about it it would have to be some economic decision otherwise why would manufacturers put these ugly stickers on.

  • @manerac Yeah, techguy makes a good point. The stickers make the product, in this case the laptop, look less clean or in my eyes, somewhat "cheap" and immature, almost toy-ish. The cleaner style of the Macbook is one of the reasons why its so hugely popular (obviously its build quality and internal features also make it great) Anyway, awesome review.

  • @canadausa80 nope.

  • I was wondering if there is any stuttering on HD video playback at 1080p... and another small question... are the integrated and discrete graphics switchable?

  • @aveenPulimi There is no stuttering on HD video playback even using on-board Intel Graphics Accelerator. The test unit I used for the review did not have discrete video. Sorry.

  • I was really wondering whether the "no rollcage" is a big problem?? I wanna buy this t410, but only this question stop me making the final decision.

    Thx Mr.Techgearguy!

  • @Benjastina I wouldn't let that bother you. I have accidentally dropped my T410 as it slid out of my SUV and hit the concrete pavement dead square. It is a very solidly built unit.

  • how long does the 9 cell last on excel, word, surfing? thanks

  • Scii runs 1440x900 at med on my W500

  • absolutely agree with the stickers comment

  • Nice video! I'm considering buying one soon. But before getting it, I would like to know how the gaming looks like on this machine, especially StarCraft 2. Could it be possible to benchmark StarCraft 2 on this machine and show us the results? The beta is available as a torrent. The website "blizzardbeta" gives you details how to try the beta in single-player without a key. Thanks in advance!

  • honestly i think it would be kinda wrong to be gaming on the thinkpad, but i play starcraft as well was hoping starcraft2 would run smoothly on this because im currently heading towards the next step of education, and i need to get a laptop, took me awhile to settle down on T410

  • There appears to be a huge amount of flex in that screen, something that continually crops up in reviews...I feel that the build quality compared to the T400 has been decreased signifigantly in many areas, but is obviously faster and more "up-to-date" than the venerable and improved T400. I would prefer to buy a T400 than a T410, even if it is a little slower. If I want speed, my tower delivers. If I want longevity in both battery performance and the product itself, the T400 wins overall.

  • hey boss, do you know the approximate battery life on this badboy with a 128gb SSD and 9cell battery?

  • Sorry all my test units in so far all have old school SATA drive.

  • ah, what's the battery life with a SATA drive?

  • With everything working as normal, (no dim screen, WiFi blasting, iTunes going, normal activity as in mail processing), it's anywhere from 4hrs10min to below 5 full hours.

  • ah, sweet, thx boss

  • if it helps any, a 6 cell with everything blasted lasts barely under 3 hours.

  • That's not very good. Does it have switchable graphics? It seems like it should be getting more battery life for what it is.

  • hey boss, do you know what the approximate battery life on this badboy is with a 128gb SSD and 9cell battery?

  • Is the ThinkPad text on the right side also a sticker or is it permanent ... I'd love to remove that one too ;)

  • permanent.

  • Thanks for the nice Review of the T410! I have a question concerning the durability: I heard that the T410 does not have a Magnesium Rollcage (especially in the Displaylid). Have you ever removed the Lid of the Display? Or what do you think in generell about the durability?

  • It is true that the T410 is lacking the roll cage in the display lid side of things. I haven't had one which I needed to take apart but the laptop is solid. I had one actually slide out from my SUV backseat right onto concrete parking lot with decent impact but no scars no issues.

  • Is that the 9-cell or 6-cell? If it's the 9-cell, does the 6-cell stick out like that as well? I know the Thinkpad isn't about looks, but 6-cells at least shouldn't stick out like that.

  • 6cell battery fits flush. 9cell sticks out. Then there is the motherload battery that they call 27++ which fits like a small docking station obviously adding "heft" to the whole thing.

  • Can you help me choose between a dell latitude and a thinkpad. I want

    1) 13-15inch display which is good for viewing photos and videos.

    2)Good processor for my engineering

    3) good speakers and connectivity

    my budget is 1500 - 2000$

  • Hey Bud. I will PM you shortly.

  • the cd rom can be remove?

  • yes

  • Actually, I kinda like some of the stickers. On my t400 I kept the holographic Centrino 2 Vpro sticker on it cause it looks cool but who cares.

  • 2:23

It's not that there is no mic jack. They combined the headphone jack and mic jack into a single headset jack, so that one can use their cell phone headset (and many VOIP headset) on their T410.

    4:40

You do know that removing the stickers is easy, and won't void your warranty right?

  • You are aboslutely right about the jack. In such a hurry to get a review out, I didn't look at the jack carefully enough - that is my fault entirely. I take what I do seriuosly and misrepresenting something like that on a review is terrible. My apologies.

The stickers - I was talking about the initial presentation. I once saw a netbook that had 8 stickers on it and something like that is what rubs me the wrong way. I just don't feel like busting out a "Goo-Gone" when I get a new laptop. :)

  • In my opinion, build quality and sturdiness of the Thinkpad exceeds even Apples Macbook Pro.

  • You could remove the stickers btw.

  • LOL yes of course! Just didn't feel like running out to get a bottle of "Goo-Gone" Thanks for checking out the video. Much appreciated. :)

  • do you have W510? I want to see you review that one.

  • I don't normally get their W series but let me see if I can get one in. Thanks for stopping by.

  • hi! I strongly concur with lawpenner recommendation. that would be great if you would provide the viewers with your in-person impressions since it would tell us a lot about this legendary machine and if it is worth buying it.

  • Hold tight. It's coming. :)

  • Hi

    nice vid .

Looking forward to your extended review of this machine.

  • Hi! Thanks for checking out the video. I was trying to keep the review "factual" versus "opinionated". However obviously there is a lot of value in what you asked for. Earlier today I got a request very similar to yours and I will be addressing that shortly. I will send you a message when other specifics are covered within next 24 hours. Take care!

  • You have told us all the things that we can already learn for ourselves by reading the spec sheet and looking at online pictures.

Could you please tell us your in-person impressions, like: how do you like looking at the screen, does the notebook get warm/hot, what does the fan sound like-pleasant or annoying, what does the lid feel like-rubbery or plastic, does the notebook feel solid or flimsy, what do the speakers sound like, are the keys noisy or quiet, other impressions in person
