  • man it took a long time for them to make up their minds. OF COURSE YOU'D PICK RAY DAVIES

  • At 1:41 one man's heart can't take the beauty anymore and left.

  • I started listening to elliott after he passed and it still hasn't sunk in that he's gone.. perhaps he lives on through his music.

  • i used to live about 15 mins from fargo, i kick myself in head for not going to this concert.

  • love the Kinks, Love Elliott. this is like the Reese's peanut butter cup of music

  • You were a great person...and i am happy you have such good music to enlighten our live's... we miss you R.I.P

  • ;_;

  • This is really insightful just to see Elliot playing to such an unresponsive crowd, just goes to show that it takes strength to recognise when you are in the presents of greatness. x

  • this exists? omg

  • Even if I've never been overly impressed by his songwriting, the man just had the greatest taste.

  • This just tears me up inside... He is so fragile and beautiful and there's something haunting about his quiet voice repeating the words.... "I am in paradise" : ( How I hope he has peace....

  • thank god he picked ray davies. love it.

  • The image of this quiet, sensitive young man stabbing himself to death is so terribly disturbing, and the loss of his presence and musical spirit here on Earth is one that affected many, many fans and musicians in ways too immense to fully understand. R.I.P. Elliot. :7(

  • He's my hero

  • @breeeegs amen to that, friend.

  • Amen

  • a couple months later he plays this song much more smoothly.

  • If anyone one knows what tuning elliott smith plays this in and what chords/tab he uses I would be so grateful to you if you could tell me. Thanks

  • hello again. haha yeah sorry both are half a step down from standard. its an easy song.

  • haha love the start "hank williams or ray davies?........ray davies" do do di do dooo....

  • I was too young to know about Elliott's music when he was alive, but now that I have discovered what a beautiful and rare talent he was, he is greatly missed by me and the countless others who were blessed by his amazing music. R.I.P. Elliott. You will not be forgotten.

  • aww, he did a beautiful rendition...

  • Rest in peace, Elliott.

  • It is really sad to see people comment on Elliott like he is still here. They assume he is just some guy posting stuff on You Tube...kids need an education in this man.

  • wailer is true. Elliot was a loner-man who had a particular distaste for percussion. If anyone believes in an afterlife, we can assume he is jamming wif all the greats, Keith Moon, you name it.

  • LUMP-a- Go-Go.. whattya mean, Elliott had a

"distaste for percussion"?? That doesn't even make sense. Elliott just happened to be a

really good drummer, in addition to all the other instruments he played( basically ALL of

'em) One of the ALL-Time greats, no doubt about it.

    STill Miss the guy.

  • tim: Most of Elliot's Smith stuff was acoustic; of that there is little doubt. 'No Doubt', in truth.

  • @timjmoran Good drummer indeed ! Pretty sure he played his own drums on Ballad oF Big nothing.. and a lot of the early stuff

  • @lumpagogo lol hey man forget keith moon. he gets john lennon

  • can anyone tab this out? please

  • perfect.

  • Another performance from elliott that makes you stop in your tracks. hear how quiet the room is- he just captivated people... terrible loss.

  • thx

  • raited 5 *

  • dood yr such an awesoooome player

  • lol you do know who elliott smith is right?

  • haha
