  • The world got save by a song!

    this a nime's so weird..

    but still it's an anime..

    what's not to love..

    I'M A FAN!

  • Damn... After watching this movie today... I really got pissed off... Why....! Hayase should have been with hikaru in the series 2... I'm so angry at macross generally... They do it all the time... Alternate sequence of events same plot.... :/ I like macross 1 even more than macross frontier though...

  • this is one of my most fav songs from an anime

  • I grew up with stuff like this (macross, astroboy, gundam, etc.), anyone who says "anime is for losers" should be re-educated to open their eye and ears for a change. Macross, especially, has a substantial impact on many still very sensitive issues.

  • Misa Hayase: Greatest female anime character of all time

Minmay: I like her ok too :)

  • Dat animation! Wow.. Macross is the greatest. Hands down. :] I've yet to see anything that beats it.

  • Kore wa??

    Yume no Utau!!

  • Nice how they use amrds instead of dauntles and prometheus aircraft carriers

  • I was in an otaku reunion last night at the karaoke when this started to play in the giant screen. I cried. A lot.

  • original Macross is anime without par

  • Moments like this is what made anime so great. Macross is so Godly and it's songs.

  • the guy getting beheaded is totally anti-climax :]

  • yup, few anime nowadays even comes close to this :/

I also find it significant that the singer protagonist is half-Chinese :)

  • Watched this series up to the one about the rockstar girl (subs quit workin on me) for the very first time almost a year ago. For its time, it is one of the most amazing series I have seen!! Truly EPIC!!

  • Truly an epic climax to an epic movie

  • macross fan since '84! macross forever baby!

  • BEST MOVIE EVER. PERIED.

  • Best ending of any movie.

  • because some people think that this song was originally from macross frontier :P

But macross fans know that it was originally from macross DYRL and sang by Mari Iijima. it's one of the best songs from anime and a long one too.

  • what a song one of the world best ever

    a truly love song

  • I'm man enough to admit that this song makes me cry. Hell the ending to the original macross series makes me cry.

  • @TheLotusEater725 What about in ep. 21 of Macross Frontier when... (Cannot post as message contains spoilers).

  • @TheLotusEater725 Ya same here man. There's something about this song that makes me want to shed a tear. Maybe it's love :D

  • UWAAAAH! DECULTURE!

  • This sequence is awesome but i still prefer the television version.

  • EPIC PERIOD

  • It is the year 2010 this year, Macross :DYRL officially takes place around 2009....hard to believe...after so long it still warms my heart to hear this version...only one word can described it -

    -Deculture!

  • Ahh... I love this song. Great memories.

Also holy crap that dude died? What cave have I been living in? RIP

  • i dont know, but he always died, in the TV show, the movei, the Robotech Dub. but in clash of the bionoids when he dies you dont think, uh, the songs over, you think, yes, this crapy dub is over.( it got 2 stars and deserves it). i love this song.

  • @dave19941000

    ............what?

    I was referring to Kazuhiko.

  • @ElRegrs sorry, i thought you meant Badolza, you wheren't very clear.

  • I actually heard Mari perform this a month ago. She said it was the first time in a while she had sung the song in L.A. She is a very talented singer and so is Katou Kazuhiko for writing this piece. I thank them both for this song.

  • I believe that this is considered a movie inside the Macross Universe.

  • This song is really pretty :).

  • just finished watching the movie.. a slow start but gets interesting.. yes the song does give goosebumps.. i wonder why

  • Listening to this gives me goosebumps. I seriously love this song. It's amazing and Mari's voice is angelic.

  • I get serious goosebumps every time this song starts. It's so beautiful.

Do You Remember Love is a spectacular movie, and the song is one of my favorite moments in anime history over all.

  • The best moment from one of the best anime films ever

  • Muy buena.

  • Rip Kato.

  • RIP Kato Kazuhiko, the song "Ai Oboete imasuka" will live for ever.

  • I didn't know about his passing.Rest In Peace.and many thanks.Because of you I got a chance to truly understand emotional content in music. You will be missed.I thank you again.

  • 1:52 "So far the song seems to working great- OH SHIIIIT!!!"

  • Oh so sad...well peoples die, it's sad, but we'll get over it eventually, as the saying says "time heals every wounds"

Well that's what I think, and + this song, makes the whole thing sad.... R.I.P I don't want to die too, but it happens to all, when were old and our bodies wores out T~T...

  • love the new rendition of this in Macross frontier. Does this song more than justice- its like fucking amazing.

  • T_T

    Fav+

  • Rest in Macross

  • R.I.P He will be missed.

  • R.I.P Kazuhiko Kato

  • The passing of such a composer..

    Rest In Peace.

  • R.I.P. sira...

we thank you for this fantastic song. you will be remembered.

  • R.I.P. Kazuhiko Kato.

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P. Kazuhiko san. We will never forget that awesome you did for all us Macross and anime fans in general.

  • Forgot to put "song" between "awesome" and "you". Sorry.

  • RIP

  • RIP

  • R.I.P

  • When does the Beer can appear? I always miss it.

  • R.I.P. Kato Kazuhiko

  • R.I.P

  • just got the VHS off of Ebay. but have yet to watch it yet

  • Minmay's song has transcended the penal confines of time and celebrates the sublime where her song has reached levels of ethereal purity!

  • agreed her songs are beyond legendry ^^

sadly Mari Ijima well forever be known as the voice of Minmei reguardless of how much she tries to divert from that image.

  • Yes I do!!!

  • wohoo!

  • just rewatched it today :)

I wanna fall in love again...

  • love

  • Sweet, bittersweet memories. So lovely.

  • One of the best anime movies ever! I first saw it 17 years ago, and it's still one of my favorites. I used to rewind this exact scene and watch it multiple times. If you pause during his last missile barrage to get to the final chamber you will see a beer can and other stuff being shot!

  • Damn!my all time favour anime!!!!!!!!

  • the ending of this movie is the freaking best

  • Angel's Paints is awesome!

  • SWEET!

  • I remember seeing the entire series as Robotech when I was a kid when my friend loaned me the entire set of DVDs. Anyone know where can find the original series?

  • Check your message box dude because I sent you informations regarding your request.

  • Try Animeigo's website. Or, a little gem of a website where I got all the anime I saw growing up, Japan Internet Goods Company.

It's where I got my copy of the Macross feature film.

  • well it is originally called 'macross' whilst it is in Japan.

  • Is incredible how good is the animation of this movie, even when is a year older than myself. Its amazing than even with CGs today, they cant achieve such fantastic level. A lot of love (and yens) were put on this movie, thats for sure.

  • @LordZero666 yeah back then they had more budget since the economy was way better. what we see now is mix of the economy going to shit (budget wise) and dead lines to meet for seasonal release. so what we get are crappy stuff, but there are some that go all out. you can clearly see, by the animation quality.

  • This definitely ranks among the BEST of anime moments. Ever.

  • @Cashino0 yep I seriously think they should continue the Macross franchise. its one of my favorite anime of all time. the way they mix war and music it just cool i'm into that kind of stuff.

  • this movie made me want to take Japanese classes in college. Awesome

  • I love this song. It still gives me a shock every time I hear it.

  • i love this song

    n_n

  • Simply the best!!!!!

  • I love this song, even Macross Frontier version seems better music arrangement

  • can't be helped, its from 1984 but its still one of the legendary anime songs

  • Yes, All macross series have this song. except Macross Plus

  • "macross zero" doesnt have this song.

macross (tv series)(the first one) doesnt have this song, since it first sung in the movie.

i think theres another macross that doesnt have this song....

  • "macross zero" game (PS2) have this song, even TV series did not.

but this is the best macross OST ever.

  • T-T i love you so... min may

    woonderfull

  • This song was never played in the original SDF Macross correct?

    I could be wrong though.

  • Yup you are right. This was an exclusive song for the Movie.

  • Huhuhuhuhuhuhhuhu Thanks for stopping the war Lyn Minmay-sama T_T

  • PROTO CARUCHAAAAAAA !!!!!!

  • i couldnt stomach macross 7 but i liked the original and frontier.

  • Ah just like in Frontier how Sheryl sang on stage while the battle was going on.

  • Gorgeous aniamtion, great song... now THIS is the way to end an anime movie!

  • ヤック・デカルチャー!

  • I think this is from the Macross Movie "Do You Remember Love?"

Frontier is the most recent Macross series. They have the same song, but sung by a different character, in the memory of this one.

  • this is the first macross series

    macross frontier is the 3rd

i forgot the 2nd one but ivee watched all three

  • This is the movie by the survivors in the first series ... (no, really, there is a metaplot going on here)

frontier is actually the 5th series (assuming one doesn't count macross II as a series). There was:

    SDF Macross

    Do You Remeber Love

    Macross II

    Macross 7

    Macross Plus

    Macross Zero

    Macross Frontier

If you haven't seen SDF Macross, really, it's worth watching.

  • It's better if you started watching Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, because you will know a lot from SDF to Frontier. It's really a sequel. If you watched the past Macross series, then you will know a lot of information about the other characters from the new ones.

  • I cant help wanting to cry in the final scene of Macross: Do you remember love? T_T (Ai oboete imasuka?)

  • A-133, Z-165. That phrase is burned into my mind.

  • que buen video y para recordar y conoces sobre macross

  • Minn May, our eternal idol... we shall never forget the day when a love song won a war.

  • This is my all time favorite movie. If only my friends would get off their asses and watch it *COUGHMEJJENGROUPCOUGH*

  • i get the chills everytime i watch this

  • agree

  • As do I :]

  • Same here.

  • I get tears, cause when I watch this and hear this song it reminds me of Macross best anime ever made...

  • I can only wonder how the Tobey Maguire version of Macross could outdo this scene.

  • That version's Robotech so it wont outdo the original Macross!

  • Macross DYRL is the best Macross out there

Nothing can compare to it, a CLASSIC!!!!

  • the original Macross is the best classic anime of all time!

  • Time passes so quickly. Iijima Mari was 20 when she sang this, now she's 45.

  • I have a different version of the song :|

  • Oh crud... this song always gets to me... *sniff*

This is the absolute best anime song ever. No doubt about it.

  • sniff....sniff.....i tried to write something else....but i can't.....just "the best" anime song..ever...sniff....sniff.....

  • Only the Macross series can put Love song to War with great effeacts, especially Mech War!

  • Was there ever a love song? Was there a long triangle involved? I don't thing so. Even though it is a great show.

  • Evangelion wasn't a love song. The songs had nothing to do with that. In fact, the only lyricized songs in the entirety of the series were a remake of an American song (Which made no sense to the context) and a song telling "young boy" to rise to the "heavens as a legend." The latter led into EoE. Now, some bits of Gundam Seed I would say qualify, but Macross is the most successful, so far.

  • Meh, I prefer this one ;)

    youtube com / watch?v=2VlD7VRZcA

  • DECULTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lol. When I die, I'll be sure to scream that.

  • Does anyone have this song, and is willing to send it to me? D: I need it.

  • macross do you remember love I think is the best anime movie ever. I've watched it over and over

  • i BEG to differ. macross plus was awesome. suck my jigon

  • What of Macross Frontier? I think it is at least on the same level as SDF. As for 7: What. The. Fuck. An electric guitar for a Variable Fighter control system? Consideration: Some ideas should have had more. Never saw II or Plus...

  • Plus had Yoko Kanno score it, so that is automatic win. She's working on Frontier as well.

Macross II was mediocre, but if you know Shiro Sagisu's work on Evangelion, you know he can write some decent orchestrated pieces.

  • I watched some of all of them, and I only liked SDF and Frontier... (Does Zero count? If it does, I liked Zero, too.)

  • Zero was someone else, and it wasn't bad, but it didn't catch like DYRL, or even the original Macross Series that had Kentaroh Haneda score the BGM.

He did an excellent job as well. Zero just didn't have any music that stood out, in my opinion. Especially since the theme of Macross IS music, Zero just didn't deliver as well as past titles.

I refuse to watch 7. I don't even consider it canon. Lol.

  • I consider every part of 7 Canon, except for everything but Max and Milia having like 12 kids, and being stationed on the Macross 7. Zero was good, but completely lacking good music. At least DYRL had great music... I mean, that's the whole point of this video. Personally, I think 7 was just a stupid 90s idea. Guitar=Fighter controls? And I hate the VF-17... I don't even consider it a Valkyrie.

  • How about Macross Plus? My favorite one.

  • Hmm... Never saw it, so... Couldn't tell ya...

  • I've only seen one episode of Mac 7, but was definitely turned off by it. For the closest thing to a direct followup to the original Macross (I think 7 is the only other show featuring characters from the original series, not counting Zero) it seemed pretty unimpressive.

  • Very few people actually like Macross 7, but the main reason for that is because very few people manage to last past the first half of the series, which was a real disappointment compared to SDF. However, I think any true Macross fan owes it to him/herself to go through Macross 7, and when things start picking up in the second half of the series, they'll be glad they did.

  • Very true! I wonder why it took until the 2nd half of that series for it to start picking up? Maybe they should've stuck to making that one only 20-25 episodes long or so instead. There were so many filler episodes they couldn't done without.

  • Yeah...it's true.

  • I love how she does that one little double step.

  • Does anyone know where I can watch this in English subs?

  • try to search on Youtube or Veoh

  • try watch-moviesnet it is a great site

  • really nice, i think and feel this song is an unforget song :)

  • what episode was this on the macross

  • It's the movie, "Macross:Do you remember love?"

There is also the english dub called "Clash of the Bionoids." But...it's horrid, and edited to hell and back.

  • thanks saw the movie, it was a great classic

  • I agree... That "Clash of the Bionoids" was a mistake.

  • Its from the movie

    "Macross Ai Oboete imasuka "(1984)

  • I have been watching Macross Frontier on Veoh...pretty awesome so far. :)

  • "Top Gun" (1986) is Hollywood version of "Macross(Robotech)".

  • That can be true... but I don't think there's a love triangle there... (I don't exactly know., I just read a whole sypnosis...)

  • Cool. I love this song. Actually, I never watch this anime. But when my brother show me this video, that time I know that Macross is a really good anime.

  • Macross Frontier next week! The Frontier Fleet is heading to the center of the galaxy which was the last known location of the Megaroad-01 Fleet. Questions maybe answered.

  • I'm still getting chills listening to this song.

Shows that you can't beat true art.

  • #2 on 2chan's favorite anime song from the 80s list and #17 overall. I think the 80s songs should have been weighted since for people to still remember them after 2 dozen years shows how great they were. Anyway I personally like Ai wa Nagareru better from the same series.

  • Beautiful anime: great story, gorgeous animation and what about this song !!PERFECT¡¡

  • Still the gold standard. They don't make 'em like this anymore. Simply classic.

  • ヤゥクデカルチャー
