She didn't play a psychotic character in BR. If you're thinking about Mitsuko, the role was played by Kou Shibasaki, not by Chiaki Kuriyama. Kuriyama's character was attacked by a guy, she killed him and then she was shot by Shibasaki's character.

I just remembered her stabbing the boy who accidentally shoots her in the face with a crossbow.
