  • Since the day this shit dropped Ive been bumping it!! Yungans study ya hip-hop for real, this aint no diss towards what you dont know but yall need to learn about those who blazed the way for todays silly ass rappers. Respect this culture all the way, knowledge is the key, these new rappers seem to be forgetting to teach you this shit!!!

  • I was listening to this yesterday. Such a classic album.

  • even if i didn't have Irish blood, i would still love this (since every single album from The Roots is a masterpiece)...but the pipes in this just flow flawlessly w/ the beat / verses.

The Roots should be given a Grammy for a brand new award called "Best Artist(s) of the Past Two Decades"

  • I think with the lower pitch they may be Uilleann pipes

    For Ireland!

  • South Philly in the house yall

    DO YOU WANT MORE?!!!?!!

Boogie Down in the house yall

    DO YOU WANT MORE?!!!?!!

    So motivating

  • when crazy ass malik b was with the group----that's when they were at their zenith

  • haven't heard this song in forever..wish i never lost this album.

  • this shit is great

  • been lookin for this song forever

  • I remember I was a freshmen in high school, playing soccer, and played this for the upper classmen on the team to think I was cool. It actually worked. Ha. 13 years later it's still hot.

  • No way to get these In a little better quality Bill?

  • now thats f@*kin HIP HOP!!!

  • true good taste in rap dog

  • ill shit like a irish hiphop. i guess.

  • Blackthought is in my top five of all time.I can remember back in 93.At 1229 Mich. When i was introduced 2 the greats band of all time.Been a fan since.

  • this story is true 100% - peep dis- winter 94 on big acid-(lsd)- end of the night after flossin tossin dippin N tripping.on the cassete i copped a week or 2 before release thanks to mr. damon and an extra 20$ at damons records and tapes on the east side of detroit...im on bagley and cass corridor musics stopped and tapes playing nothing waiting to end and flip to the other side,,,and blam i hear this fucking beauty coming from my speakers ,for abrief sec i thought itv was from god.tylsd&root

  • My favorite Roots record of all time. Sooooooo good.

  • @probos1 damn right this album is so good it almost hurts

  • i remember taking a chance on this album at a record shop in venice beach in 95. i had had too much of a steady dose of wu-tang and mobb deep for a number of months and i wanted to try something different. i took a chance on it not knowing who the roots were. this song was the first one to convince me that the album was worth it. then i started liking the other songs on the album.

  • Dam,

I listen to this for the first time in 15 years,

    ....

and i can still remember every verse.

This shit is in my blood

  • Masterpiece!

  • Brooklyn in the house yall!!!!!

  • none y'all know shit....take a lesson

  • none y'all know shit...take a lesson

  • the roots had about 800 great albums

  • thx man for uploading i love dis song

  • Nice BASS !

  • Tairy for president...

All I can say is thank you.

These fellas aren't this pack of soul-men anymore....they have been swayed by current activities to say the least.

Thank you Tairy for bringing me back...

  • This is east coast rap no doubt on the flow and they are from Philly go look at a map kids... you kids probably live in the States and they burned your geography text books so google map that shit. And those are bag pipes

  • those are bag pipes not indian horns

  • wouldve been phat with a saxaphone n not the idian horn

  • @hiphopisdead34 lmaooo. true i agree it would be nice to hear another verse but it still rocks!

  • needs another verse, but illl beat

  • this shit is live.

  • amazinng its way too freakin short though

  • This is str8 ruff rugged and raw, when I heard this track, i was strung out on the Roots forever

  • first time i listenin to the roots...they rap style is like westsides to me,but they re cool.nice music.

  • West Side? Why do you say that? I´m interested; you may make me see something I didn't notice...

  • i talked about the flow.u know,it aint that steady like run dmc's and other east coast acts.its the type of flow i think exists mostly in westside.

  • Nah it wasnt a west coast flow...west coast was way more laid back then the East in the way they flowed(atleast more so then East not all artist but plenty)....the Mid west I think had that quicker flow...Bone Thugs in Harmony for example..but this song is classic non the less.

  • This beat is so tight. off the fucking meat rack. one of my favorite roots songs and albums. Oh how the years go by. Wont ever hear shit like this anymore. :(

  • never -

if u was noddin your head to this back in 1995, you had to be noddin to Blowout Comb by Digable Planets....('94)

very special time in Hip Hop - and as Henry said in Goodfellas, "and now, it's all over"....sucks real bad.

  • @Sagittariusrising74,

There was a certain pure essence that Hip Hop created back then that is truly absent nowadays :( but omg Blowout Comb is so ill!! Such an underrated album!

  • Yes, it really is...we are blessed to be recipients to real music man.

Not just Hip Hop, but the pure essence of Music period is absent...it's not Absent, it's not being exposed, marketed, and promoted to be embraced. Garbage is on the radio man. Blowout Comb is Timeless...if you haven't heard it as of yet, check out Trip The Light Fantastic by Ladybug Mecca...Hotness, it was dropped in 2005 and gets better w/time.

  • I want this instrumental T.H.!!!!!!!

  • same here. im lookin around and i havent found it so far.

  • Whut the fck! I never heard no sh*t like this. Where they been all my life.! Using bag pipes now thats talent! 5 stars!

  • Welcome to the wonderful world of underground hip hop.
