It was quite obvious there is no non-Korean competitive Brood War, because all the foreigners (who traditionally suck at BW) will want to jump straight to the new, shiny game which gives them a fresh start (and hopefully a head start on Koreans who through cultural disinterest may be slow to move to SC2)

i don't really understand how you can justify sc2 skill ceiling by all the players being bad/washed up pro gamers and doing well. Of course those players are going to do better because they practiced their mechanic everyday for years. They couldn't cut it in starcraft broodwar so they desided to play the game that requires less apm and skill all around. If anything that proves that sc2 skill ceiling is way lower.

the timing of the rigged matches scandale while Blizzard was negociating exclusive rights with GomTV and blocking any agreements with KeSPA... was very suspicious.

Right before the beta came out. And now KeSPA has lost all credibility to run the progaming scene. Blizzard asked for exclusivity over pro-team replays, which makes secret strategies impossible.

Blizzard owes big time to KeSPA for keeping SC alive all this time. A sequel of a 12 yold game would never be a hit otherwise...

i have to say i hate that flash has "solved" brood wars. Kinda makes brood wars finally end with 1 dominant player. Guess it might sum it up well for some players but I don't want to give it up. Want it to still be competitive and in flux. Sigh. end of an era.

thanks for the news moletrap. but i dont agree with sc2 having lower skill cap then bw, sure its easyer to hit the macro skill cap then in bw but on the other hand its imposible to hit the skill cap in micro(for a human atleast) in both sc2 and bw, you cant control every unit individualy at the same time, it would be optimal but not possible. i could even se that you need even more micro skill in sc2 because units natuarly clump up so spliting your army becomes even more important than before.

Gom is a terrible exploitative service, videos are unwatchable unstable and overpriced, Blizzard's decision to pimp out their product has prevented pro gaming from going mainstream for another couple years in pursuit of the petty dollar

@sufilix Because real players actually play dozens of successful games to crawl into the higher leagues and stay there, unlike others who merely blitz their placement matches from beta experience to get into a league they're obviously not meant to be in.

And I don't know NA servers, but as an Aussie, i'm on the Asian one and it's damn competitive in Diamond.

@noamzilo lol i disagree, i think it was the stupidest thing he said in all of this events commentarys. Things still change, and units you thought were useless are suddenly viable. Then Terran starts meching versus zerg for a period of time. It keeps shifting. And its not like Flash determined the metagame, that was done by players WAY more old school.

Personally I hate SC2, not much you can do though. I s'pose it'll be good to see some big names returning to the scene.

I have to disagree with your "solving the game" thing, though. SC1 and SC2 are practically the same thing, just with enhanced graphics (not in my book) a few different units and spells. It would really just take a couple games to figure the building times
