  • daniel2johns,

Hi brother, how'd you conclude that one ruler will sign the treaty at the beginning of the 7 years & another one will stop the temple sacrifices & set up the abomination that causes desolation at the 3 1/2 year point? I've always seen Daniel 9:27 as saying that one man, anti-Christ does both. His false prophet will play a major role, but the anti-Christ is the ruler. Other than that, I interpret things much the way you do. Take care.

  • Good question! Daniel 9:27 says the antichrist "shall confirm the covenant with many for one week..." Note the word "CONFIRM" (gabar in Hebrew, meaning to STRENGTHEN). In Daniel 11:22 the "prince of the covenant" is crushed or killed by the antichrist; so this "prince" may actually be a good guy who brokers a genuine (Mideast?) peace treaty. Or they might be in cahoots together, then the A.C. later stabs him in the back, Stalin-style... you never know. Keep the faith!

  • daniel2johns, Thanks for the reply. I believe the "prince of the covenant" was Ptolemy VI Philometer, the king of Egypt. The covenant mentioned is the treaty that was struck between Antiochus Epiphanes' & Philometer's grandfathers. That comports as well w/ any of the historical documents as any other interpretation I've seen. It may be as you say, the Ptolemys allowed the Jews more autonomy than the Seluecids did. It still doesn't seem to work well w/ Daniel 9:27 tho.

  • Have you never read the parable about the virgins and the lamp stands? and you say there is no rapture? BEHOLD I WILL COME LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT? How can a thief com when everyone knows he's there?

  • The rapture will occur; but only at the moment of Christ's return in power and glory, and only AFTER the resurrection of the dead in Christ. (I Thessalonians 4: 16-17.) For the Lord to secretly rapture us away, He would have to change our sinful bodies into our immortal bodies, which only happens at His coming. "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed." I Corinthians 15:52.

  • did u know that a theif in the night in those times were often loud and all knew of their comming sort of like vikings or barbarians

  • Good presentation!

  • AMEN!
