  • I fucking hate that lens.

  • Do you sell this heli? where can i buy one?

  • Comment removed

  • That's an expensive camera to be flying around in an expensive helicopter. How pissed off would you be if you crashed it?

  • 3.14 Can't believe earth is actually so small.

  • Very cool! What model of heli it is?

    Congrats!

  • ...love it... One of the many reasons why i want the 5d even when it will get replaced with yet another camera that takes even cleaner pictures... Just out of curiosity what camera did you use to shoot the helicopter itself?

  • Hi, what lens did you use for the fish eye shots at the end?

    Thanks

  • which soundtrack you used in this video?

  • Excuse me, what helicopter do you use for that?

  • MAN!! this is amazing. Seriously good. I want to use this in one of my music videos

  • Wow, this is damn impressive! I only have one question: Did you build the RC helicopter by yourselves, or did you buy it?

  • good stuff. VEEEEEEERY annoying lens tho

  • I also used 5d2 with tripod for heli aerial shooting, but I found that there was lots of shaking problems that come from 5d2 structure. I have make a stabilization in FCP or AE it cannot fix.(It seems the image has distorted)

My friend said this is the camera lens structure problem.

How can you fix it? thanks

  • Hello

Alterations in the helicopter was that you did?

Seizing the opportunity, I liked the video, I also know that music used?

  • What fisheye did you use?May be 15 mm 2.8?

  • wow alot of engineering went into the balance on that chopper. I am having nightmares.. Im sure you will have a contract soon for Government security.

Are yoyu in the army? They use camera's similar to this.

Great Video though. I like it.

  • Golden Gardens!!! Nice rig

  • very nice

  • No HD version, seriously?

  • hey

i just discovered this video. could you please send me some tech. data on this rc helicopter. i am looking forward to do something similar and i believe that this model would be perfect for me.

    thanks in advance

  • Amazing WOOOWWW.

  • GREAT job guys, match made in heaven :)

  • Great flying guys and a top demo I'm out tomorrow to check this camera out.

Did you have the camera on auto?

  • I want one!

  • very cool!

  • pointless without 1080p

  • VERY NICEEEEEEE! GREAT WORK!!

  • Why is this vid not 1080p?

  • Fabulous film. What frame rate did you shoot this with?

  • what kind of helicopter is that?

  • I think my Blade400 would have some payload problems lifting the 5D! LOL

  • I can lift a "normal" handycam with mine.

Check out my "Operation Helicam" vid.

Yes I agree the 5D would be a bit much. :)

  • WOW!! :-)

    Peter

  • cool stuff bro! :) ..we do similar stuff too, but haven't tried yet our new fish-eye lens. check "AeroEye Asia" here in youtube :) we're the leading aerial photography/videography services here in the philippines :) cheers! xD

  • MORE SEASCAPE SHOTS!

  • yep just read it :D

  • music sounds like moby

  • I have same system but crashed two month ago. May be had RF problem.I used 2.4GHz in Japan. Can you tell me what the frequence you using it?

    Thanks.

  • wie geil ist das den!!!

  • This is what insurance is for :p

  • I'd be hesitant to do this.

  • grrrreat, where could l buy heli like that with the kit like one on the video

  • Great video, The 5dmk2 video's really great, The video's brillantt on landscapes/skies & low light! Just wondering did you get any frame skipping on the faster shots/pans on playback ? I've noticed this on shooting fast moving objects, not every time though....

  • Awesome.

I was in an other world during the whole video.

    These 3D trackings are beautiful.

5D makes very high quality images.

    Nice job !

  • really good idea....

  • I love it! perfect for any outside event coverage. WOW.

  • Fucking WIN.

This is ridiculously cool, probably the smartest use of the 5D yet.

Like a more fish-eyed version of The Shining intro., you need to get on this and do something that makes people cry with joy. 100% respect for this mate

  • what kind of helicopter is that?! nice work!

  • thats awsome dude, its like the vincent laforet fish eye he does over manhatten just without the really expensive helo ride, do wonders with this idea

  • awesome. but the fish-eye like wide angular capture sux....

  • Being a 5DM2 user myself, I'm impressed to see what great lengths you've taken to improve your shots. I don't think I have the guts to fly my cam up so high... or OVER water!

Nonetheless, you get great shots with the fisheye, though parts of it are a tad dizzying :) Thanks for sharing your experience. Time for me to go to flight school now!

  • awsome dude!!

  • i would like to see it try to fly with my 700mm lens on it. lmao

  • Nice. Which lens did you use for the shot?

  • what is the model of the helicopter?

  • I can. not. beleive you strapped your 5D MII to an rc heli man hahahahahahhaha

everyone here is raving about the toy heli, and I'm stressing about your camera/lens!!!

  • No doubt, I'm thinking the same thing.

  • It would be so uncool to crash that

  • Holy cow, nice!

  • WOW

    so nice, great vidoe!

it would be nice to have a video transmiter to a screen on the ground ;)

  • I am so JEALOUS!! what model gyro are you using??

  • in the scene over the water it looks like after anti shake remove filter via sofware pane and zooming

  • dope

  • I have a 30 series nitro heli, and I think i'm gonna go brushless dc, specially after seeing this! Looks like a great build you did there. Definitely a fantastic camera. Excellent vid!

  • Great stuff. What range does the remote control for the chopper have? Could you ascend to 500m or so for high up shots? I would like to see such a camera used by someone in an ultralight or para glider as well...

  • Very steady camera platform. Less shake than on a full sized helicopter! I also like your functional design and gimbal arrangement. Reminds me a bit of a dragon fly.

  • WOW! So Cool

  • What song is in the background?

  • I'm amazed.

I'm a pro photographer and always looking for new ways to make impressive photos. Putting your 5d Mk2 on a heli is just RIGHT!

Yes - you're incredibly brave to have done so, but the results are stunning.

I'll check your profile to discover more about you.

  • Very very great idea to put a camera to this RC helicopter :) We see our lands from above... I Love this video! :)

  • Very cool!

  • Great!!

  • this video have to get the CANON AWARD!

  • Great shots!

So.... what track under the movie?

Also what's your precedure of editing? When I film ( even quite steady) I have so much skew/wobble etc.... looks like a cheap mobilephone camera sometimes...

    Thanks in advance! :)

  • Track is Moby "flying foxes"

No special tricks in editing, just have to make sure the helicopter is running with zero vibration and fly as smooth as you can!

  • Thanks for the (amazingly quick) reply!

    Moby! I knew it haha!

Anyway what format did you render it to and in what software did you edit? I use Vegas pro... when I edit sometimes the skew effect becomes amazingly visible...

On the cam even when I shake it's not visible really, just at the pc...

So what format do you render it to?

    Thanks! :)

  • @aerialpan Easy said haha! Still that skew effect is... ugh causing me headaches. Been flying RC heli's now... would love to have one where I can mount my 5D and 15mm fishey haha :D

  • oh, God!

  • I used final cut pro using the apple Pro Res Codec and then used H.264 to compress it for web. I prefer to transcode to Prores since it is easier to work with then the native H.264 files the 5dmk2 creates.

    Cheers,

    T

  • @aerialpan It's always a pain to render H.264 in FCP ><

    I too use ProRES 422.

  • Nice! How about reuploading this in HD?

  • muy bueno, yo me arriesgaría sin dudarlo

  • focus on infinite I suppose ?

    Great video btw !

  • what it's this song ?

  • cool

  • that is so cool i would definytly take the chance you took to get those results!!

  • Thanks guys!

The Chopper is based on a Maxi joker 2 from minicopter

    gimbal is available from copterworks

    Cheers,

    T

  • Stellar shooting and flying!!

  • Bravo. Good music.

  • You Da MAN!

  • Wow, very very cool!

  • Great footage. I'd love to learn more about the helicopter and mounting equipment if you have a chance.

  • great stuff... really! I wonder if I would have the guts to put my SLR on the heli though... although I can fly... maybe in calm winds.. :)

  • amazing, nice job!!

  • NICE!
