i need help please, i strained my knee before 2 months ago and went to my physical therapist to do some exercises, the doctor said that its definitely getting stronger but it hurts when i try to run, other than that, i have no pain at all. can some one tell me if i really have a serious injury or not?
Does anybody know the best option for and ACL injury in Mixed Martial Arts? Braces aren't an option, and this taping would be good but it looks like there's zero flexibility.
Just suck it up. After your knee has recovered from the pain/trauma. Your body will gradually start to depend on your hamstrings more to stabilise your knee. I have torn cruciate AND shallow throclear grooves but would feel fine doing some kind of wrestling and controlled shorter kicks, I regularly do barbell squats which is very therapeutic. Running is the only thing that really sends my hamstring into overdrive and problematic.
Hi, this might be silly question but right up until the spiral taping to specifically reinforce acl at the end is all the other tape over the anterior aspect of the leg simply for overall joint stability? i tried this on myself and my knee felt very secure but very limited esp into flexion which could be quite limiting in a game of footy. Please correct me if i'm wrong but could you not apply the anchors and then do the acl spiral tape reinforced on either side to limited hyperextension? Thanks!
Yes the other taping is mainly for whole joint stability. However, this technique is not really intended for use in the late stages of rehab, when you are able to play football! It is more for earlier stages of rehab. You may find a knee brace better for you.
I have a torn PCL and acl elasticity I can see how this taping will help me my injury is 4 years old been in therapy that long to and seen by PCL specialist that says no surgery I disagree cuz my lower leg rocks back and forth!
i hurt my knee wrestling and im looking for a knee brace that i could wrestle with that could provide support and flexibility if you could give me any info it would be much appreciated
Look for McDavid braces. I have two types. One type has a tightening strip above and below the knee. The better (and more expensive one) also has four strips that cross and surround the patella, very similar to the taping technique shown in this video clip. I can still do sports but nothing is as good as my original knee. I also take anti-inflammatories and ice my knee later if there is pain. GOOD LUCK!!
Braces don't prevent re-injury. The ligaments used to replace the ACL are stonger than the actual ligaments, so another rupture is caused by going back to sport to soon or by being very unlucky and doing it again.
what is wrong with that guy's knee? Ive torn both of my ACLs- my knees do NOT look like that. and I wear a brace, then when I feel comfortable/have stability I tape my knees up right below the kneecap and right above it.
This taping technique is mainly for the prehabilitation stage (prior to surgery) and post-surgery rehabilitation. For playing sport a hinged brace may be more suitable
Great video. Was hoping for some advice, I tore my ACL around five years ago and had the repair around 3 years ago. Unfortunately due to the NHS only doing class scheduled physio I never did the necessary rehab so there remains a little instability in the knee.
Would this taping method be suitable for to play sport now without the necessary muscle support? Or is it for other purposes?
Is it possible to use normal athletic tape instead of elastic tape?

Which is the risk of gangrene, I mean, during a soccer game (90min + 15 min pause and 20 min warm up)?
JoaoPauloDupui 5 months ago
@JoaoPauloDupui Gangrene?! Highly unlikely, unless you wrap the tape so tight you cut off all blood flow!

Search for cjw1QvAzaSM in youtube.
It's a video showing an alternate method of healing a painful injured knee.
Speedy recovery to those who wish =)

Where can you find the cheapest prices on the Elastikon tape? $5.50 is the cheapest I've been able to find. Thank you for the video.

what are you talking about...
what ligaments are you talking about?
they use either patella tendon, or semitendinosus and non of them are ligament.... rarely they use synthetic or from cadava...
